Drop all training skills... Isk is the deciding factor in the game. This would lead to more pvp, more people staying with the game.. after almost a year, I still do not have the skills to be comfortable with pvp against 2--5yr vets. If training is needed, limiting skills to train like ships, trade, and manufacturing. The skill training reduction, would allow pilots to try more ships types. Without spending a ton of time training to find out that you are not comfortable flying a particular ship. I would believe this would have a positive affect on new peeps trying eve for the first time. Would not a population of twice or three times what we have, make eve better or not??? Just wondering... This is not meant to be a troll.

Not enough Sir, everyone should be given a limitless supply of every ship and module in the game, plus their own POS and errr, exotic dancer. Otherwise it's not fair on the new players.

Edited by: Meveil on 21/02/2009 15:34:45 You must be doing something wrong then. Cause when I was only 6 months old, I toke on a 3 year player in a sabre while I was only in a Vexor with tech 1 modes and tech 2 drones. While I didn't blow up his ship, he did run away with structure damage.

Its wrong to only allow players who trained hard to play on a pro soccer team.
Allowing people to buy a spot on a pro team would improve the sport, because more players would make more teams and more matches, thus by default making it much more fun to watch! Poeple would also not making the mistake of training for a long time only to discover they sucked at soccer.
More is better no matter what. Allways.

Oh right, maybe not such a terrible idea if ;
- You couldn't just reroll every 5 minutes to shrug off bad rep, sec loss etc...
- It not only made the old player foam at the mouth, it makes it 10 times easier for them to quit as their sustained investment in a character over time becomes worthless.

TBH it's good as it is. Real wars are fought without the belligerents having equal technology available. I can't really think of any conflict that would have had equally armed opposing forces involved. Well, obviously, why the heck would anyone attack someone that has about the same abilities as their own. That said, no army asset is invincible (unless we are talking about orbital bombardment of stone age people, but that's not the kind of difference we have in the game). Think of Afghanistan. Soviets moved in with modern equipment. A few guerillas were able to take down million dollar helicopters using RPGs. Or think of Vietnam where US soldiers with their x thousand dollar equipment fell into camouflaged holes, impaled by sticks. I almost hate to mention the magnificent Maginot Line :) Anyways, examples are countless. So, if you find a superior enemy, then you have to use better tactics. Should that fail then you gather people to help you. No enemy is undefeatable.

After 3 years of Eve play, SPs should start heading backwards towards zero.
That's the only way to keep it fair for new players.

That poor tempest... I know the fleet tempest isn't the best faction BS, but no reason to fit it with such a budget fit.
As for the rest of this thread, no... T1 frig budget fit - 500-800k T2 laden and rigged BS - 150mill+/- Frig living while BS does not due to being unable to warp - priceless
And that was the exact case back when I first started pvp(minus the rigs ofcourse), you don't have to have some high SP or uber fit/skills to be effective in combat... sure better is better, but anyone can be useful... somehow.
I don't think I should really bother much on this, but if this ever happened...

When I started playing this game in 2006 I was pvping after the third day. Back then I had about 60,000 skill points.
On the second week of my long pirate career me and and a fellow nub-pirate (Zenobite we miss you) killed our first 2003 player--a flashy red guy with a bounty.
Honestly, if you feel you cannot, after a year, fly against vets, you are doing something wrong. End of story.

As others have said, SP isn't as important as alot of newer players think it is. Train up for an assault frig with all t2 fittings. They can be mean little ships in the right hands. Get yourself a T1 cruiser for playing around, they're relatively cheap and don't need a ton of training. Get a BC, they're sweet too!
Get a couple of buddies together in AF's and go pillage lowsec, just stay off the gates and stations (unless they're blinky red).
