Currently: In the fitting screen select "load setup" which will open the fittings manager. You have a dropdown for personal, corp or locally saved fittings. You can select a personal or corporation fitting and export it to a local folder on your computer or choose import from the locally saved fittings. The location is the default location for all Eve exports in C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\EVE\fittings\tengu3.xml for example. If you select Import then it will look for valid files in that location.
Hopefully EFT and other community made fittings analysis tools can create compatible import/export actions for our xml format and folder location so you could export to eve fittings folder and then import into the game from there and vice versa.

Awsome, this will be very popular if the EFT guys get it to work. Good work CCP.

Very nifty Chrono. Thought it was just for quick-fitting ships, no idea it had the local copy ability ..
but a few grievances (isn't there always );
When exporting you have to write a file-name and it will save multiple ships to one file if more than one selected. Is there a performance hindrance to saving the ships with <ship type><given name> in separate files?
Also, on import the ship defaults to local files and has to be manually move/assigned to personal/corp, perhaps have it in local files and assign personal at time of import?
It doesn't actually save a fitting locally. Just tried export -> delete personal -> import and a single ammo charge was all that appeared as fitting .. *grrr* Is this a known bug or do you want me to report it?

Not exactly related to exporting/importing Fittings ... but i just wanted to thank anyone who had to do with the "Load" and "Fit" Buttons
Thats pure win.
Instead of 100 click/drags to fit a ship, just simply save a Fitting ... assemble new ship and click "Fit"
WIN \o/
Thanks so much

Fantastic stuff. This is going to be so useful on sites that have a ship fittings area! ================

Other community fittings?
Seriously?
Did you not want to mention the single most popular site: BattleClinic.com for sharing fittings?
We love you, CCP Chronotis, and we love CCP. But do us a favor and direct people here: http://www.battleclinic.com/eve_online/ship_loadout.php
You'll find by the statistics that more people create fittings through our interface and share them than EFT. Don't get us wrong, we love Grippen too -- he's done a great job with EFT. But we would ask that you (a) send people to us, so that all can benefit from a community perspective...oh and (b) watch out, because we have a very special surprise coming in March that we hope will benefit the EVE player community like no-one has ever seen! More soon...stay tuned.

What statistics are you referring to?
I find it hard to believe that you can accurately capture any usage data from how people use EFT (how many, how often, for what purpose, etc). So how are you able to say that "more people create fittings" through your interface vs EFT?

@jayseven
Based on our conversation earlier today, I'd like to take the time to clarify my earlier post here. Thanks also to Epitrope.
At BattleClinic, we look at how we can serve the community better by providing great services. When we realized we needed to update the fitting screen for T3, we jumped into some server statistics to prioritize our developer's time.
We had assumed that we would need to work on the EVEMon and EFT communication tools first because we thought that's where players were creating loadouts to share on BattleClinic. Indeed, they are, but actually, we discovered that more people are coming to the website and using our web-based tool to share loadouts.
We thought that was pretty cool :) But it also helps us prioritize how we continue the support. Since these free tools don't write themselves, we have to pay people (usually in ISK) to build them, maintain them, and man the forums for player support. In doing that due diligence, we noticed this and thought it was an interesting point to share.
