I find it quite amusing that because some members of the capsuleer community are flying under the banner of "unlawful" (which I use the term loosely) corporations as declared by DED that they have no nationalistic or patriotic values.
I suppose the fact that those that are in loyalist corporations feel the inclination to harp on about their recently-acquired wannabe patriorism while waving the flag at every opportunity goes to display how shallow and lacking their patriorism really is.

Exactly. I came within a whisker of sacrificing my own security rating for the sake of my people. It's a sacrifice I still maintain I would have made willingly and gladly, if it had proven necessary.
I'm glad that it didn't come to that, but...
...no, let's leave it at that. Being outcast is a very different thing than being hnolku. - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

There is a difference in sacrificing your security status for our people, your corporation, and the State and preying upon the corporations and the State. Or do you think piracy and criminal acts aimed at State corporations is patriotic?

I find it amusing who actually feels the the nessesity to barrage this. Not a single actual member of the opposite militia have bothered to voice their oppinion. Yet somehow few minutes of videofeed mannaged to spurr a lot of ourside influences into screaming "Epic Fail". All of them so joyous in going about doing whatever they feel like, yet somehow threatened by an oppinion voiced about something that has little to do with their lives. And whether or not i act like a proper little achuran girl. Well here's some Achuran Philosofi to sate your hunger "Normality spurs from the majority". None of you pirates part of the majority, so can it.

No, you were.
I have no idea where you got that quote about "majority normality," but the very term "normality" in part means conformity. Right now what we have is a political conformity that isn't healthy for the State.
But I'm perfectly happy to "can it" just for you and laugh at you when Heth falls.

Perspective and Motive are powerful things, Nederland-haan.
There are pilots who fight in the militia purely out of a desire to cause destruction and death. To my eyes, those pilots are no better than the kind of greedy, self-indulgent psychopath who stake out systems like Rancer and shoot at everything that moves.
Then there are Guristas who do what they do out of an honest and genuine belief that it is the only avenue remaining to them by which they can affect the course of the State for the better. I should know - I nearly became one.
Do the State and Federation wage war with each other purely out of a desire to harm one another? No, I don't think so - both sides have valid grievances against the other by now, old wounds that won't stop bleeding. We fight because we have no other way to resolve the differences between us. We earnestly believe that we are right, that we are battling an implacable foe bent on wiping us out.
The same is true for some - not all, not by a long shot, but some - Guristas. However delusional or accurate the belief may be, the motive itself is done out love for their people and an earnest desire to change things for the better.
so yes, piracy and criminal acts aimed at State corporations CAN be patriotic, if done for the right reasons.
That doesn't necessarily make it the best approach, however - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

i find it funny how so many of you can argue about the nuances of re-taking our homeworld, yet not one of you so-called kinsmen have considered the freedom fighters and their valiant fight against the occupying Gallente. They fight there still. yet no one commemerates or commends their efforts.

The Caldari Militia and State will never be fully subdued. I hope this war ends soon because now it is a waste of time and lives. The new EVE demands compromise from all parties to end conflicts.

Whispering in the corners says that this war is mostly being fought to support the Caldari Economy.. So far most casualties have been limited to the Capsuleers and their employees, I'm a practical man and while I'm no longer directly connected to the State, It could certainly use a good boost.
