Welcome to real life.
When I do my job really well, there are no problems, therefore it looks like I'm not doing anything and I'm not really needed.
When I do my job badly, there are loads of problems and everyone sympathises about my overpowering workload.
The only time I get any credit is when I go on holiday and someone has to cover for me. Then they realise that my job (1) is actually quite hard work and (2) I normally do it quite well.
I guess the moral of the story is: have a few beers at lunchtime...
This man gets it. The corporate world is awful sometimes.
