I would like to know what the minimum projected video card requirements for the new expansion and the one scheduled for the fall will be. I on a budget aned cannot make a substantial investment in my computer more than one time. I need to get an idea of what is coming so I only have to upgrade one time. can anyone give me a definative idea of what I am going to need?

A cheap 30$ or so NVidia 7300 should do just fine.

Edited by: Cors on 27/02/2009 04:04:32 Stop playing EVE for 4 months. take the money you would pay for your subscription, add in anything you can save over that time, and you'll be able to pick up a middle of the road videocard. NOT a Minimum.
You are playing an MMORPG. The hardware requirements go up constantly.
If you are unable to afford a new videocard every 2 years, you should NOT be playing an MMO.
Why people persist in this, I don't know.
200$ a YEAR will keep a computer up to date. That's it. That's what you pay for EVE. Or the cost of one pizza per month.
And just so I dont' come off as a TOTAL *****, Heres a 50$ video card that'll do the job.
EDIT: just in case you arn't technically inclined PC wise, make sure any video card you purchase use's the same connection to your motherboard as you have now. AGP, PCI-X and so on. Make sure the power requirements are low enough that your powersupply can handle it. Make sure your system cooling is enough for the card you purchase.

That said, until I have built that computer I have to make due with:
AMD Athlon 754 3400+ (single core) 1 GB DDR PC3200 RAM NVidia GeForce 6800 GT 256 MB
Think EvE premium client will be playable at low settings until I get my new machine? -----

From nvidia's web site on the 6 series of cards. SM3.0. Youll be good for next month, and the end of the year. Your performance won't be that high, but you'll be able to play.
I've got a similar system for my 2nd pc. It's a 7 series card, but I have a slower CPU. I DO notice it's quite a bit slower on thest atm then it should be. Main reason for me is the low ram. 1 gig with vista is just wrong, but it's all I have left that'll fit that PC.
Yours will do you till your new system is built this fall/winter.

If you have to ask, it's probably time to upgrade. -----------

I think the true requirement for Apocripha is a little higher than mentioned on the devblogs. Last week my geforce 8400 gs (= ok for apocripha) died a horrible death and i had to run the comp on a geforce 6100 (256mb ram) for few days. During that time i wasn't able to log into testserver, the station draphics didn't load, heard the station sound but got stuck at a black screen. When i then used my new geforce 9500 it worked fine, so it must have been the graphic card. So if you have a geforce 6100 or below it's time to upgrade i guess.

This doesn't help those people that play on Laptop's, where you can't just upgrade the GPU..
I think that list of the min Graphic card specs would help those people alot..
