I don't know if the removal of the left "wing" is intentional, but please for the love of god, give it back. You could already hide it if you didnt want it, but i found it a gift from heaven, being able to fit ammo, modules and stuff in one click. No longer having to have the items menu open -.-
So yeah, People who didnt want it could hide it already. A total removal was pointless. ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I would say a good compromise would be to hide it by default. Seriously, with the left pane enabled, fitting took up the entire width of the screen for those of us playing at 1024x768 or 1152x864
Personally, I *liked* the old fitting screen. I don't need to be looking at a graphic of my ship in fitting when I can already look at it in dock, plus now all the labels are tiny and the fitting screen takes up 1/3 more space than before, making "show info" windows hard to look at simultaneously.

I'd rather have the option there if people want to use it than have no option at all, any day. ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

i like it the way it is now, it was to ****ing big before, also being able to see the ammo and moduals was more or less pointless if you ask me

I also thought the left wing of the fitting screen was not needed and took too much space.

The left wing was useful for quick fitting of modules although it could have used a filter so you didn't have to scroll through the entire contents of the hanger to find the module you needed. The ammo loading was also of great use one click and all the guns were loaded rather than having to load each gun individually.
The only thing missing was the available drone/cargo bay space.
The fitting screen is still missing drone information. Drone range and bandwidth are important especially for tech 3 ships as they vary depending on the subsystems mounted. |

Then all people like you would need to do is press one button and its hidden. Or people who want to use it ust need to press one button to use it.
Regardless of what people think, not everyone has station cans and hides all their crap in them. The left wing of the fitting screen was extremely useful to many people, and took up less space than your average Item window does. Also one click to load all guns, fit items and what-not over right click-fit item or drag and drop 3/8 times depending on guns. ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I hope it is just a bug, but if not, bring it back.
It was easy to hide if you didn't want to look at it.

I really like it that it's not there.
But for those who love it. /I really hate it/ Maybe put it back, but it should be hide able, or completely removable.

you can already do this by stacking the guns and throwing what charge you want into the gun
but i do agree some what on that little window that one was more useful then the others can easily fit it in there without adding in the whole left side thing back in.

Idk why the op is complaining, the left side is quite literally your hanger except it had less controls and was less flexible. Complete and total waste of space when your hanger not only offers better control (layout, number of mods on screen, shape) but allow the use to position it to best suit their screen. -------------------------

whats up with all the ignorant "I didn't read the thread I'm just going to comment ****" posts?
he said "YOU COULD ALLREADY HIDE IT"
so saying it was too big is not an argument. Sorry, but it's not, you basicly sayign we should have the left side back every time you post about how it was too big.
I want it back, ignoring the items window, having your dronebay and cargo open with the fitting window was genius.

yes i am aware you can hide it, which i always did but literally HALF of it was nothing, if it had other information like drone bandwidth and some other important things then i wouldn't care if it was back or not cause it could actually be useful.

Recreating something already present in the ui, then making it worse, is not genius. Quite the opposite in fact. This is why, i can only assume going with the forum feedback, it was removed. Having your hanger/cargo open next to the screen makes much more sense, at low res for screen space and at high res because those re more flexible in other possible module layouts.
Another example of waste/pointlessness would be the drop down windows in the right frame. Now, if you want ship stats you open it, you don't and you close. So why then can the individual info panes be minimized? What space are you actually saving? None. Better use of this space would (imo) be removing the drop down bars and using the space saved to insert cargo and drone info at the bottom like the old screen.
Minimizing those frames is purely cosmetic, like most of the initial things the fitting window had, but it's difficult to criticize (yes i can see people are still doing it) the people behind it. Ones who have taken pretty much everything said on-board the past few weeks and improved it drastically... ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

More options and redundancy is a good thing. If it helps just a few players micromanage massive inventories or understand how to fit their ship, then it's worth it.

If it's there but hidden it still updates every time you fit something to your ship which makes fitting take twice as long and makes it jerky.
It takes four times the size of the items hangar to display everything (cause it only shows one row at a time), isn't nearly as tall, and can't be sorted. It was a bad idea and the fitting screen is improved now that it's gone. __________________________________

It was sorted in alphabetical order. I've always found this more efficient than any other sorting scheme.
Not everyone sorts things in station cans. Not everyone is so adverse to change. And some people actually liked this because (in my opinion) The old UI is not only a stagnant piece of waste, but it looked horrible.
Oh and also, if you double clicked it, it expanded to show alot more than "one line at a time". ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

As a noob, one thing that always ticked me off was having to have in excess of 3 windows open, just to fit my damn ship. So the lack of this left wing will make me sad panda.

Stack your info windows, The left side removal is easier in my opinion, I just drag and drop my ammo and charges in my cargo, and my drones in my dronebay, and then undock and fill my guns up with said ammo.

Edited by: Exoth3rmic on 03/03/2009 15:44:00 The main problem with the left hand window at that time was that the cargo windows and drone bays required you to drag and drop ont to the title rather than the box. This was not intuitive and at the time seemed to break the auto-fill feature. If it was fixed so you could drag and drop into the main window then all for the better.
The actual module window wasn't that useful to me. For those that fit ships frequently they probably keep their ammmo/modules in seperate containers in their items screen anyway. For those that fit a ship once and never look back it was of little use. With the ability to load fittings from a saved database it also loses its functionality in the long run. Implement it back by all means with the hide button, I don't think many people will use it though.
The fitting window would be nice if it was balanced with info on the right and the left, it looks lopsided at the moment to me.

as a pilot that has a full hanger (yes it complains stating I cant have anymore items) I dont find the left at all particuarly any more useful than the chat window layout. The icons are massive the is no Iconless type, there is no sort options and no filtering options. Give the modules 'slot filters' and default 'show *****ble only' with metalevel and group sort.
The drone section needs to have bandwidth listed as well. =============
