Originally by: Nova Fox as a pilot that has a full hanger (yes it complains stating I cant have anymore items) I dont find the left at all particuarly any more useful than the chat window layout. The icons are massive the is no Iconless type, there is no sort options and no filtering options. Give the modules 'slot filters' and default 'show *****ble only' with metalevel and group sort.
The drone section needs to have bandwidth listed as well.
This. Also, ***** is censored? o.o ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

ò Make the left wing hidden by default. ò Rename "Personal Ship Modules" to "Modules, Rigs & Subsystems." ò Rename "Personal Module Charges" to "Ammunition, Drones & Scripts." ò Give the Modules, Rigs & Subsystems section Slot Filters, in the form of icons in the title (Each icon relating to the slot icon) and a last one for "All" ò Make them expand fully on one click (Instead of double click, since some people didnt quite wrap their head around that) ò Give the drones section a Total m¦ / used m¦ / Bandwidth count in the title. ò Give the cargohold a total m¦ / used m¦ in the title. ò Make it possible to have two sub-windows open at once, each taking up half the space (This allows easy loading/unloading of drones).
I really believe the only window you should need to have open to fit a ship is the fitting window. You should not have to drag and drop / right click - fit every time you want to fit a module to a ship, or load ammo into a gun. You should not have to have the Items, Drone window and the Cargohold windows all open just to fit a new ship.
Fittings window needs to do what the name implies. Not be a "Fitting Accessory" ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Edited by: Smurfprime on 05/03/2009 03:45:21 The left panel had very little to over other than the buttons to save fittings, which they moved.
You can fit your ship by drag and drop out of your hangar or station container like you did before, so the left panel is essentially useless and therefore a waste of time to code.
Sorting and search functions have no place in the fitting screen.
So to answer the question, it is just more sh*t to code and it is not particularly useful, so they got rid of it.

I found it useful. I mean, there's probably 20 ways I can order something off the market, but what's wrong with that?
Redundancy is worth it. If just a dozen players find it easier to understand the game and stay, adding a feature back that they've ALREADY coded is perfectly worth it.

YES, YES! Totally agreed with OP.
/signed, whatewer you want.
That was incredibly good feature.
PS. Somebody can explain me, why modules fitted by drag and drop, fit offlined? Its a bug or a secret plan how to get people nuts?

Originally by: Blane Xero I don't know if the removal of the left "wing" is intentional, but please for the love of god, give it back. You could already hide it if you didnt want it, but i found it a gift from heaven, being able to fit ammo, modules and stuff in one click. No longer having to have the items menu open -.-
We decided to disable the item selection panel because the implementation was nowhere close to our design. In it's current state we simply don't feel the item selection panel is good enough. As we were running out of time to finish up the fitting screen in time for Apocrypha, we felt that resolving the many usability issues with the rest of the fitting screen was more important that trying to cram in more buggy features. The current plan is to continue improving the fitting screen for the Apocrypha point releases. Depending on how much time we get allocated, and the priorities of the different improvements, we may revisit the item selection panel.

I can sympathyze with that. Though I think that at least showing drone BW is someting sorely needed.

but it allready worked just fine
fitting ammo and drones was easier than ever before, no more looking for ammo, it was all in one place. IT's not like it didn't work.
To fit a ship you should have the option to have one window open, and only one window.
Can't you just tweak the code a bit, and re-release it with only cargo/dronebay/ammo? please? PLEEEASE.

I have no problem with this. I was just a little "narked" about the almost silent removal of it.
Its one of the top things i would love to see come in the future though, as would many people. I understand that in the form we had (briefly) it was alot further behind the rest of the screen in terms of development i guess, but hey, the rest of the stuff already existed in some form or another, minus the pretty ship centre piece. This is a new thing and if it takes time to do it right, take the time to do it right ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

i personally liked the left side, it did make for easy fitting. as for the being too big arguement, i dissagree. its much smaller than the items hangar. not only that, u could set the fitting sheet up to cover the top of your screen, and all you needed to fill the bottom of the screen was the market window. worked a treat for me, buy and fit without flicking through multiple windows.
I do agree that it lacked a sorting feature the items hangar had, but i'm sure that could be implimented before release. Also as for the drone info, not too long ago they didn't even have the size of your drone bay there and its been added, so be patient. and yes, its obviously not for everyone so it should be hidable.
my vote is bring it back
