After upgrading my Nvidia Drivers to V61.77 and upgrading to directx 9c I now find that Eve fails to load correctly and all I get is a white login screen making logining in impossible.
Can someone take a quick peek at this and put up a fix. thks

I noticed this effect too but only for Windows XP whereas Windows 2000 with NVidia 61.77 and DirectX 9c has no such problems. For Windows XP I have reverted back to drivers that work with DirectX 9c until such time as EVE is brought up to date for the Windows XP platform. |

Did you uninstall the old nVidia driver before upgrading to 61.77?

Edited by: Thomas Epsilon on 12/08/2004 08:49:38 I have almost the same problem, but with a ATI FireGL 9000. EVE already was already giving problems, scrambling the screen after 5 seconds.
But now, after upgrading XP to SP2 (and DirectX 9.0c), I see the login screen window with the placeholder for the license agreement, but nothing more. I manually upgraded the EVE client to the latest version, but to no avail. Also tried all the video drivers I could lay my hands on.
I don't get the feeling CCP is spending much time on the engine itself and the known software/hardware problems, which I find very disappointing. I can't play EVE anymore on my laptop, for some time now. :(

Well I haven't had any issues with EVE and DX 9c. I'm running a Radeon 9800 Pro with Cat. 4.7 on WinXP SP1 + DX 9c.
Try uninstalling gfx drivers and reinstalling again. Remember to reboot before installing again. For the ATI people, grab the ATI driver uninstaller from the ATI website. What you salvage is not mine, but what I mine is not for you to salvage! |

Must be local issue.
Yours truly is running 61.77, 9c and SP2 without a hitch.
Well, except for bloody SP2 resetting way too many edited settings to default but that's food for a different rant

Well I'm running Win XP Pro SP1 Gef4mx Latest Nvidia release drivers for DX9c and DX9c White screen.
There's something not quite compliant as I've not had any probelms with any other DirextX application or game, just eve.

Edited by: Ankanos on 18/08/2004 23:19:44 running nvidia fx5600..
i kinda like the billboards, so i reverted back to the 5216, and i'm happy.. plus, the new interface for the drivers is kinda dumbed down.. seems like they're starting to bury all the settings in sub-menus and remove "power user settings" yada yada..
so is the billboard issue ccp deviating from protocol, or nvidia?
oh, btw how is SP2 for XP? is it stable? any new features or just fixes?

This problem relates to Nvidia cards with DX9c drivers and DX9c.
I can't comment on ATI cards etc.

Wonder why you get any problems updating to 9.0c at all. If I remeber corectly how directx works it souldn't affect anything since directx 9.0c should contain all that 9.0b does. So if you run an old dx5 game it should still work since dx5 is still part of dx9. Correct me if I'm wrong, it was a while since I did any dx programing.

A lot of people had this bug with newer Nvidia drivers. When I upgraded mine from 56.64 (or something like that) I got exactly this problem. That was with DirectX 9b. I downgraded my Nvidia drivers and all was well again. Try going back to your previous graphics drivers and keeping the DX9c. Let us know how that goes.

Athlon XP3200, ABIT AN7, Radeon 9800XT... Windows XP Pro SP2, Catalyst 4.8, DirectX 9c.... Absolutely no wucken furries here (/me expects Aussie terminology to be edited out) That leaves a couple of things... it's either YOUR hardware, YOUR setup, or YOUR drivers. Oh btw, 9800XT is running flat maggot as well, 6xAA and 16xAS... still no worries, and with "advancedDevice=1" its going even harder with 2x Multisampling... and still getting minimum 39fps. Id suggest people stop moaning about the EVE devs and either upgrade/set up their systems properly or moan to their manufacturers. I've noticed ATi have started looking after their older cards in the latest (was either 4.7 or 4.8) Catalyst patch notes.
Of course you cant run EVE on a 286 with a 4mb graphics card.

It seems to affect people with GF4 cards and the newest Nvidia drivers + DX 9.0c.

Having recently upgraded to SP2 (yes I knew EVE wasn't working but had to test a theory) I think I may have solved the white screen problem (at least for me)
It was my video drivers causing the white screen effect not DX9.0c... I can say that for a fact.
The way I solved it was uninstalling my drivers then booting into safe mode and running the CAB Cleaner (make sure you do this first)/Driver Cleaner from http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/
Then I reinstalled the old 53.03 drivers and eve now loads without the need for win98 compat mode.
I use an old GeForce2 mx400 on a crap P3 933Mhz I slipstreamed SP2 with the Auto Streamer program from http://www.autopatcher.com/autostreamer.html
2004.12.11 03:07:32notifyThe Serpentis Mercenary is too far away, you need to be within 54625 meters of it but are actually 13193590680251 meters away. |
