In general - low sec mission rewards are not worth the risk. So avoid them unless you absolutely have to do them. If you do use affordable ship.

Yes - one can run missions in low sec, however it is not reasonable from isk/h perspective. If you do it for fun then yes - it's a lot more fun than hi sec - if you are after that kind of fun - that is.
From the fun in combination with isk perspective one is better off skipping the zoo in low sec alltogehter and go for the pirate factions. Seeing as one is already stiking his neck out then why not stick it out all the way and get proper rewards with that increased risk.

Originally by: AmeNoNuhoko My own advice, if you're going to mission in the area, is to either join a corp based there, or make friends with those who are. The #1 most important thing is intelligence. Knowing who is going to attack you and who isn't is a key piece of info.
Also it allows you to not walk blind into a gatecamp -- having someone on the other side verify it's safe is quite nice. Of course, return the favor -- park 200km off a highsec/lowsec gate, cloak, and provide intel back to the people who provided it to you.
The more you know, the safer you are. Know the area, know the people, know your escape plan. The map tips above are a great starting point, but if you'll be in the area a lot, learn the area well.
This is good advise. Same stands ofc for zerozero missionrunning. However to reiterate - if you run for the isk then stay hi sec or if you are willing to take pvp risk then go zerozero. Low sec is suburb you drive thru doors locked and both hi sec and zerozero offer you better isk/h.

Originally by: King Rothgar Mission rewards are substantially higher. For a mission that gives 6k LP in a 0.5 sec system, it will give 10k LP in a 0.1 sec system. Given that LP is worth on average 1k isk each, that's not insignificant.
The isk/h differece in favor of hi sec comes from the fact that one can use pimped ride in hi sec doing missions faster while in low sec it would not be sensible. Faction fitted faction or T2 battleship is approx 30% faster in the hands of competent missionrunner with proper 5% hardwire set than T1 battleship with T2 fit with 3% hardwire set. In combination of good portion of mission rewards from bounties (that is same everywhere in EVE) it negates the increased LP rewards advantage for low sec.
It's also worth nothing that if one is already willing to take the risk and is after isk, then pirate LP is worth a lot more than empire faction one. That is for level 4 missions (ie solo content).
When comparing against level 5 missions it is not as clear. Actual isk/h depends on a lot of things so it's not possible to give out good enough 'rules of thumb' for them. Afterall there can be major difference if you solo them in fury nighthawk or have to use gang of 5 to be able to do them. There is still no pirate level 5 agents as far as I'm aware ... (have not looked for a while tho).
