Edited by: Roy Boaz on 07/03/2009 19:15:54 So I decided to go to singularity to test the new content, which I was very sceptical about. Started the 1.4 GB download but disconnected after 400 MB. When I restarted, the clever Download manager didn't manage anything: I restarted from scratch. I don't have unlimited download bandwith and such flawed design and service is unacceptable in 2009. Guess I will be putting on a very long skill for ApoGrind, just in case I don't log in for a very, very long time...
Yes! You can have my stuff! The first one to give me the author and historical importance of the following French Verse will get my fitted CNR :
"Les sanglots longs des violons de l'automne, bercent mon coeur d'une langueur monotone".
Wow, that was fast!! RUZE win the CNR, congratulation!

ôChanson dÆautomneö (ôAutumn Songö) is a poem by Paul Verlaine, one of the best known in the French language. It is included in VerlaineÆs first collection, PoFmes Saturniens (1866)
The first and second lines of the poem (Les sanglots longs des violons de lÆautomne / Bercent mon c£ur dÆune langueur monotone.) were broadcast by the Allies over Radio Londres in 1944 as a code message to the French Resistance in preparation for D-Day. When the second line was broadcast over the radio waves, it signaled that the invasion was to come in 24 hours.

Get a real internet connection... 1.4 gigabytes is only <10 minutes download. If yours isn't stable for that long time, ask for your money back.

The one part of France that I truly respect, is the French Foreign Legion. Needless to say, it's made up of foreigners.

That's actually going to be the more common standard. It's already coming to the US, which is a little behind on the power curve as far as internet usage and availability are concerned.
Many of our states don't even have affordable connections over 56k. Affordable, being less than $60 or $70 a month just for the connection. It's only a matter of time before we 'catch up' to the rest of the modern world, and provide both affordable, and regulated internet access.
It happens with every industry. The net is not new or different. It'll be a crying shame, though, especially for online gaming.

Yeah just another fine example of Fascist Liberal taxation and regulation policies. I like how you put "catch up" in quotes here. I would say it's quite regressive.

Paying for limited download bandwidth is an incredibly flawed service.

You have a limited download bandwidth per month from your craptastic ISP, yet the thing you choose to call a flawed design and service that is unacceptable in 2009, is downloads that dont resume when they get disconnected?
What is unacceptable in 2009, are ISP's that still dont have unlimited bandwidth and less than 4mb/s. THAT is flawed design and unacceptable service, if anything.

Edited by: Nova Fox on 07/03/2009 22:27:01 1 They have torrents for all expansions 2 They have a bits systemw which is pertty good resume support
3 neither of the said above is usually used with sisi as it adds unessecary bits and peices that barely effects game play.
4 most sisi'ers incrimint patches as they're available for download!
I recommend looking before jumping over a bush might wind up on the bottom of a cliff one day.
But not to be a total fox of myself you can try to use Free download manager from download.com that is a very good downloading manager =============

As we don't live on the coast of Australia but about 100km inland as the crow flies our infrastructure is at times poorer than a lot of 3rd world counties and as such we're driving 2hrs to our nearest internet cafe on patch day to download the patch.
It works out a hell of a lot faster and cheaper than downloading it from home.

Edited by: MenanceWhite on 08/03/2009 02:11:44 The download package for sisi is a complete standalone install of the eve client for sisi. Which means that you won't have to download that much during m10 if you already have the eve premium client installed.
You are by no way forced to use the "download manager" included. There's a separate file you can download normally from the eve homepage and make the "download manager" install from that file instead. Which means that you could've downloaded that file "normally" or used any download manager with resume function to download it. Please pay attention to things before posting.
2 mins for that CNR, we had no chance ---

Australia in particular has Internet that is equal to that of a third world country thanks to our corrupt service providers who put zero effort into upgrading the arcanic systems they put in place decades ago and its taking it toll. We're forced to pay hundreds of dollars a month for limited bandwidth and ****ty unreliable service. If we had an actual choice in the matter we would of upgraded, not amount of whining or *****ing can change it due to the stupidity of our government allowing for a monopoly on the service provider market and left it that way for years before realizing what damage it did to the actual service. Hell using 56k over here is better value for money than using ADSL or Cable is. I pay 70 AUD a month for a fibre optic line that is probably equal to around T1 with horrid upload, its a decent speed but the problem is the horrible download limits that is 12 gb for the entire month 'on peak' (12 pm to 12 am) and 24 gb offpeak (12 am to 12pm). Share that amongst a house hold and you barely manage to not go over.
