Originally by: Goodwill George I hate to reak this to you, but the download on SiSi doesn't have to eb same one as the final TQ build.
Also, the sisi download doesn't support torrents. The final TQ build can be downloaded as a torrent and therefore a higher probablility of success even if it does take a little longer.
Yes, the limited bandwidth is a PITA and even more annoying when downloads fail. You'd probably be better getting a friend to do it for you and save it to DVD or even a USB memory stick if you can't handle the torrent download.

Ive never heard of 'unlimited' bandwidth before, that must be one heck of a system they got. *Points out that there is nothing in the universe to mans knowledge that is unlimited*
Seriously though, most people don't have 'unlimited' bandwidth as not everyone lives in the centre of an American city. Not trying to be nasty about it, but as an example I cant find a single UK internet provider that doesn't use a 'f.u.p.' (fair usage policy) that prevents large single downloads and going over an allotted amount of bandwidth per month. ------------------------------------------

The US seems to be the last little bastion, I guess, where they don't limit how much you can download and access.

Yeah all those gloating about their internutz connection, well not everyone has a choice now do they. I get 95 gigs a month, upload included. with the 10mbit connection, that means I can download at full capacity for less than 1 day before I am over limit.
Sad part is that they have pretty much a monopoly since they own the cable lines... you could opt for DSL but its inferior. Even sadder is they even have the balls to increase their rates, now paying $70. I blame the Canadian government for not allowing foreign competition, because it might hurt the profittttts. --------------

Most of the states' communications infrastructure was built back in the 1980s the three companies that did it back then went backrupt doing so sadly. today companies are buying rights to the fiber optic network and rapidly expanding opon the old network to new areas because its a compitition out there.
Most of our costs on the internet is divered from the rental use of these lines, similar to connection fees of telephones just that most fiber optics are far more reliable than the old copper wires used for most telephones and most phone companies already switched in technology use, not in billing structure, which is why there are not alot of upstart companies popping up now using the cheaper service of fiber optics and providing just low costs.
Oh btw, myspace is probably a larger country than austrailia in terms of the internet. =============

The op more than likely lives in part of Europe or any Country which isn't America, and as such has to use a service provider that places a fair usage policy on their service.
I know, shock and horror that in 2009 there are still limits imposed by companies that are run for profit before service. ------------------------------------------

or the op lives someplace even in the US where they don't have a cable line or fiber optic line yet.
Case in point whenever I have a dll for EvE I do it at work since I have no cable or fiber optic option open to me. I have a) Dail up @ $18 a month (which they do limit and after a certain amount will either "Randomly Drop" the connection or slow down to an even slower crawl) or a Sat connection @ $70 per month plus $400 for the dish itself. I even checked into the wireless connection through verizon's cell phone signal and it clearly states on the contract "Not for use with gaming" so there isn't even a point there.

You mean there are companies in other countries whose goal isn't to gain as many customers as possible by providing an unsustainable service, give the executives big bonuses and then fail and ask for a handout from taxpayers ?

I hate to say it.. But even in the US there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. Comcast has moved to a limited usage approach and when you reach it they dial you all the way down to dialup speeds. Cox has also moved to a similar system. There are few if any remaining companys that allow you unlimited internet. The most you are going to get is around 200GB of total useage before it starts capping out.
And for those that use one of the two provides that hasn't been effected by the new cap's yet. It's coming and will be spread across the US by the middle of the year.
That is unless the put in there net tier plans that is based upon total useage caps. You could get 800 GB for around $200 a month if you wanted.
But not everyone has cable or other options. I live in the middle of a forest and the closest town is about 50 mins away. There's no way I could get cable out here as it's not cost effective for them to pipe fiber out for one or two residents.

Out of fifty states, more than half don't have regular broadband connections. So much of our country is still stuck with 56k, unless they dish out a LOT of money to monopolized industries.
It's easy for my ignorant 'America is the bestest' friends here to forget that.

I live in europe my isp has a fair use policy they sent me a letter complaining about my downloading 30 gig in one day, i phoned them up and told them i wanted to end my service as having a 20mb connection and only a 30 gig a month usage was crap they apologised and i havent had a letter since i regularly dload over 100 gig a month now :)

Nice, a flame. I didn't blame ccp for anything, and its usually a not a good idea to start throwing around 'your country sucks' as some people can take that as a racist stance. So grow up.
Also to the guy who went over 30gigs and now gets much more bandwidth, I have never heard of anyone getting a better service after they violated the rules. Most will just charge extra for the bandwidth they think you did not deserve, and there have been cases of people being charged huge amounts for violating a f.u.p.
Most internet providers have a very rigid set of terms and conditions that they expect their customers to adhere to. Not saying you are wrong, it just sounds like you were incredibly lucky and one of a few. ------------------------------------------

True they do have a FUP but they only time they enforced it was last year when some muppets DOSd the DNS servers.
