Are using the same monitor through all this? Maybe it has some faulty electronics that are causing your cards to flip out.
It does look like overheating though. Is there a change in the frequency of crashes between the various cards / boxes that would indicate some overheating more than others?
Bear in mind your harddrives could be overheating too. I'm doubtful that would cause the display corruption in the screenshots, but it's something to consider if they're the only common component. A pair of mirrored RAID drives in use constantly and sat next to each other can build up a lot of localised heat. _

Well either way, that problem is caused by overheating. If you have a component thats not the cpu or gpu thats in 70+ range thats bad. very very bad, and like I said and the guy on the first page, this problem is caused by overheating / overworked memory. I would do some serious investigation into those temps. I would imagine that one of those temps is the Northbridge and/or Southbridge.
I dont know what program you use to get your temps. Goto www.cpuid.com and get their cpuz and hwmonitor programs. They are free and no computer should be without them imo. They will tell you all your temps, labeled and clear, as well as your hard drive temps etc.

If the northbridge is overheating (usually around 60C depending on make) your computer will definitely lock up. I've had it happen dozens of times on one of my older rigs with bad overall cooling. I had good temps on the CPU and GPU but not enough airflow through the system to keep the bridge chipset cool. Your northbridge is probably seated under a heatsink without a fan, see to it that it is cool.

Well, CPUID Hardware Monitor just reports this mysterious 81c temperature as TMPIN0 which is the CPU temp according to BIOS i believe. If so, it seems very happy cruising at this and is consistant between 80 and 81.
This (TMPIN0) cannot be the cause of the problem. This is three diferent cases, three diferent mobo's (possibly even four!) and three diferent processors (I7, Q6600 and E6850). I think this temp reading is a red herring myself... could be wrong though!
That said, i've now been AVG free for some hours and...... playing eve for some hours and still no crash. This is looking promising! Darwin 4tw

ya, i have no idea what that is. Would havae to do some more investigating. Even if your anti virus is the problem, i would chase down that temp. nothing in your puter should be that hot.

It is possible but not very likely. I run AVG 8.5 myself and I've played EVE extensively since.

Yes they can, GPU for one. Mines rated and expected to run hot, up to a max of 105c.
Either way, its NOT AVG. I just had a crash with no AVG. I have no way of tracking down what that temp is but according to google its the BIOS intepretation of the CPU temp. As this is the third diferent PC, its NOT a CPU temp issue. No way in hell its the disks. I've built server farms and never had any issues like this caused by disk heat.
I can only think now its my PCIE Raid controller. I'll try plugging the data array into the mobo and *hope* it supports two diferent raid 0 arrays.

Ya, ccp is sucking on this right now.
As far as the temps, your gpu can get very hot but you already know yours isnt getting that hot, hence you can have nothing in your computer getting that hot... I have never seen one 3 digits even on a gpu though and have that be "normal" but it is possible to get up that high. CPU, no way. If your cpu is getting that high, you have serious cooling issues.
PCIE raid controller I have no idea. I do know that you generally can have multiple raids on a mobo raid controller though. I have 2 raptors in raid 0, 3 1tb in raid 0, and 3 others in raid 5... All of this is on my mobo raid controller btw. And it's stable.

Nah, ALL CPU cores are only running around 40c at most. I have read up that the BIOS intepretation of CPU Temp is very unreliable hence, the reason i'm not concerned by the figure shown - how can the cores all be at 40 and the amalgamated BIOS reading be double? Doesn't make sense. Also, how would two other chasis with two diferent processors running 2 diferent gfx cards all suffer the same temperature issue? Possible yes.... but unlikley to say the least! And then throw in this brand new Dell I7 system .... just doesn't wash with me.
I can encode films pushing my cores up to 80% usage and the temps still low and it doesn't crash. I use eve, on its own and suddenly its heat? Don't buy it. Specialy as the GPU is running well within design limits.
I refuse to believe the Raptors are the cause of the issue which leaves only the Silicon Image Raid controller. Sadly my Dell mobo only has 1 raid controller on board. I can only hope this will control 2 diferent raid 0's, even if it does, im still losing out on bandwidth as its all going through the same bus - you need to look into that to be sure your not wasting money on disks/raids you ain't using properly.
Whats worse is that this RAID controller AND disks HAVE been playing Eve fine in the past. This problems only started happening in the past 6 months(ish).
Whats really PI*&ING me off is that I petitioned it and i didn't even get a "standard response" template reply. It would have been annoying to receive it but at least i'd know they were aware of it. Darwin 4tw

I googled TMPIN0 again and found another hit saying it was the inside temp of my PC. Aparently TMPIN1 is the outside temp (is it magic? No thermometer on the outside of my case!).
Anyway, Inside was 81, outside was 47. Took the case off and it was waaay cooler inside that in the room so thats bo**ocks. Now seriously distrust CPUID.
Interestingly, after removing the case though, both temps started to rise very slowly. Darwin 4tw

He Monty long time no see! Well guess what I got also strange issues. I can play any other game at 2560x1600 resolution on my 30" (have an Intel X9650 (3ghz not overclocked), 4Gb, Raid 1 and a Nvid 8800 Ultra running Vista Ultimate. It always worked fine. I can even run 3 or 4 WoW accounts at a time and np. EvE however makes my screen go on and off (and eventually lock the whole system) after like 10-15 min lately. And it's really only EvE. WoW, COAD etc all run well with no problem. I play much in WH space these days, class 5 and 6 and even a slight lagspike is fatal.... so really dunno what to do cause I can't play like this :( --

I'd like to chime in and say I have the same problem.
Important Specs: Dell XPS 1530 (Notebook) nVidia 8600M 256mb Vista 32-bit
The exact crash seems to be a graphic card lock - I run Aero, and when EVE freezes, the entire computer freezes. (I run EVE in a window.) I can click on things in the task bar, but everything's non-responsive, and even alt-ctrl-delete only brings a black screen with "Failed to load" or something to that tune and then back to the mostly-frozen desktop. I have the latest drivers and everything (triple-checked blah blah) and I'm only getting this problem with EVE, so I'm nearly certain it's not a memory, CPU, GPU etc. failure or parts going bad.
It seems to happen most often when I'm traveling between systems, as if loading the new solar system is too demanding on the GPU or the GPU's memory. It's only happened since Apocrypha and "forced" premium graphics arrived. I've tried the suggested "Interval One" fix (no dice), and disabling my AV (which is not AVG) doesn't do anything either. Obviously with a laptop, I'm not running RAID of any kind.
I'm going to file a petition with CCP about this now.

You know, this is a shot in the dark, but every one of you are running vista on all your machines. Throw xp on one of those real quick and see if the problem remains. Only takes ~an hour to install/update xp.

Would if I could - I don't have any valid installs with me any more
It's gotta be something related to the graphics (since the new ones came with Apocrypha) - EVE making weird hardware demands with Vista or such that's causing the problem.

I was hoping monty would reply as I am sure he probably has one. It's pretty funny to see how an operating system like windows can cause soo many more problems than any other with so much hardware that really hasnt changed much in years.

Windows suffers more issues because more people use it, same reason it wins on virus count.
And no, I don't have a copy of XP and tbh, even if I did im NOT replacing my operating system for an older version - specialy when I then add in a small risk of losing my disk arrays(yes they are backed up but you know how many hours it takes to back up 1.5tb to usb???.

Still getting the problem here, and it does indeed seem to happen when I'm warping between systems quickly. Autopilot in a Mining Barge doesn't crash, but when I go to manual (Warp to 0m) to go faster, it starts to crash.
And really, CCP, it's not so much that I'm ****ed off that there's no solution, it's the fact that you haven't responded, especially to Monty. Acknowledging the problem would be a start...

My Bro Wrote the Silicon Image Firmware, he just assured me that those Raid controllers were not tested with Eve :) But the load testing of those controllers on a canister array is way above and beyond a home PC with a couple of drives. Focus elsewhere was his opinion and mine.

Iceman, this HAS NOT worked.
MyBuilder, Im sad to see you are having this issue mate, but it does make me feel a smidge better that im not the only one now. I've now got so desperate that i've even installed XP Pro 64 and i'm STILL getting the same error - again, ONLY IN EVE! I'd love to give you more promising information on how to fix it but so far i've tried the following:
- 4 diferent mobo's(2x Asus, 1x Abit and now a dell OEM)
- 3 diferent stets of memory and processors (6850, 6600 and now an I7)
- 3 diferent gfx cards (Nvidia 8800, Nvidia 9800 and ATI something or other)
- RAID and NON-RAID disks
- Vista 64, Vista 32 and now XP Pro 64
- nHancer (with vsync)
- Eve (setting that graffix setting to do same as eHancer)
- With AVG and then without AVG
[*]Plain builds i.e. only the O/S and MS patches and OEM drivers (not other software) [*]Windowed, not windowed makes no diference
- one client, two clients, stationed or in space - makes no diference - Extra cooling in my PC - i could now use it to cool my beer!
(edited the list above as it appears CCP's list function on its forum also sucks and can't handle to many items.)
Oh and five weeks ago i did the extremley usefull task of petitioning CCP - who didn't even acknowledge receipt of the petition, let alone try and fix it.
And finaly, let me re-iterate something that many people seem to miss.
