Hey everyone. This is mostly a thread pointed at CCP, so while I appreciate speculation, lulz and jocular I really just want CCP's answers.
Okay so, first a few questions:
1) Logging in was one thing. I'm safe to log in from the character screen. But if I'm hung up on a gate that is obviously changing the game a bit. Why is Jita being throttled when there are only 1900 (totally typical Jita occupancy number) people in it?
2) If I leave Jita to go do stuff other than be bored in station all day what are my chances of getting back in if you constantly have the stargates to Jita closed?
3) Since this is revolving around a war and since Goons got quite a few people during low-occupancy numbers and while the server was not being throttled, who is to say any of the 10 groups that declared war on them are going to be able to even get INTO Jita to pew pew?
Thanks for the responses. The most important thing is that others and myself can play unaffected by this so it's like it wasn't there. I hope that CCP and the rest of the community can understand my reasons for this. Need stuff moved? Push Industries will handle it. If you wanted answers from CCP, you should have petitioned. In before lock.
And no, you being able to play "unaffected by this so it's like it wasn't there" is the most asinine thing I've read in a while. This is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game. You're basically demanding the right to play EVE as a single player game, and that's never going to work.
And oh yeah, here's a fun thought for you while you're thinking about things:
If we get 2600 in Jita, the gates to Jita close. IF we get 2000 in the systems next door to Jita, gates to THOSE systems close. In other words, if we do this right, Nothing gets in NOR out of Jita. |

Last night, I saw a high number of 2025 people in Local in Jita. I had zero issues undocking, leaving Jita, and returning to Jita - did it several times at the height of combat, shuttling lootz and getting better-suited ninja ships in place.
Biggest issue is when tidi got above 40% it became veeeerrry sloooow to do anything. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing. |

While EVE is a MMO and not a single player game it's very easy to remain "unaffected by this so it's like it wasn't there". It could possibly last what, a couple days? Granted Jita is by far the most used trading hub but it shouldn't be a stretch to stay away from the system for a few days. Try out Amarr? If you're stuck in Jita without a jump clone your best chance would be to shuttle out, if you die you'll only lose your implants. |

Well, flat out stating that what the Goons are doing is ******* brilliant pretty much does actually.
CCP likes it when you take advantage of the open ended nature of the game, especially when the gaming media expresses shock at what is going on. When I check troll in the dictionary, it has a photo shopped picture of you standing somewhere in the vicinity of a point.

2) You don't seem to understand that what CCP is proud of is their servers staying up and kicking during this AND that players are having a good time. Jita will still be there next week.....
Edit - "I tell you what, it's going to be f***ing brilliant," Jon Lander, senior producer of Eve Online, told Eurogamer this morning. "Absolutely brilliant.
"There was one bug [the 'bookmark escaping agro bug'] in the game that meant that if they do the things they're going to do, they could have escaped the in-game consequences. So we fixed that bug about three weeks ago. And they went, okay.
"They're going to do exactly what you're able to do in the game, and people will have to roll with it. It'll be great.
