Three times today I've tried to patch my client. Three bloody times I ended up getting a verification failed error.

I'm not even concerned about the problem itself- I know they'll figure it out eventually- but the completely lack of response is ridiculous.

CCP, I could have done a better job deploying this patch. You NEVER!!!!! seed a 1.4 gig file on one server when you know your 250,000 +- subscribers all HAVE to download it.
What gives you the idea that they put it on a single server? All of the links they've given, http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net, use the domain llnwd.net which is the domain of one of the largest content distribution networks in the world. LimeLight networks (the guys who own the llnwd.net domain) have hundreds of points of presence and entire data centers spread out across multiple continents. They are as far away from "a single server" as you could possibly be. My company uses them to distribute updates for a product of ours, and we don't have these types of issues.

Originally by: Donsabai Tedivm...appreciate the link. Will try that: http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net
The 'link' I gave isn't to a specific file, its the domain thats hosting the updates files. The update is here http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/evepremiumpatch84063-84244.exe
The domain itself, ccp.vo.llnwd.net, maps out to hundreds of machines all over the world. You can easily test this from your own computer by running "host ccp.vo.llnwd.net" in the terminal of a Linux or OS X machine, or "ping ccp.vo.llnwd.net" on Windows. The IP address you get back should be the closest datacenter to you.
For instance, here in Masschusetts: Oneiroi:~ tedivm$ host ccp.vo.llnwd.net ccp.vo.llnwd.net has address 208.111.128.7 ccp.vo.llnwd.net has address 208.111.128.6
Or in Texas: tedivm@eris:~$ host ccp.vo.llnwd.net ccp.vo.llnwd.net has address 68.142.122.70 ccp.vo.llnwd.net has address 68.142.123.254

Edited by: tedivm on 11/03/2009 03:34:59 I just finished download number 4. Did. Not. Work.
At least I know that each time I download it CCP pays that much more in bandwidth. Won't be long now before these guys are in the red, for my subscription at least.
Edit: Well, I'm skipping the autoloader and grabbing the OSX client itself now. I've noticed the file says premium, which would be nice since previously there wasn't a premium version for OSX. If CCP gets this stuff working soon, and this is a real update to the OSX client, I'll let this mess slide without too much more *****ing.

Originally by: Dejah Thorris CCP, i could not hate you so much right now, if i did not love you so much most of the time.
that being said, is there anywhere to download the full MAC client using P2P, or an alternate page for direct download?
I downloaded it from here- http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/mac/eve-premium_002289_84244_mac.dmg
I got that link from the downloads page (http://www.eveonline.com/download/).
I have already managed to log in and it is running smoothly. I have to say, it looks fantastic. The premium graphics finally being available for OS X makes such a huge difference- the ships themselves look so much better.
