A shader model 2 card costs next to nothing these days, if you dont even fork out a tiny bit to upgrade your hardware slightly then you dont deserve to play eve. I totally support CCP, drop the old engine and bring on more shineys I say!!!!!!

So now, instead of only needing an 8 year old card to play, you need a 5 year old card to play. You got this brand new expantion they released for free yesterday. Spend the $30 - $50 you just saved on a new GFX card. You'll probably have some money leftover. In conclusion, Boo Fracking Hoo.

Yep feel ya, I work, have kids, like to eat, love my beer, and am a fat man, so likes lots of beer. So when I read the notes a year ago about specs, you know what I did. Yep I did not buy a six pack one week a month and abought me a new card for 50 whole dollars. yep, 5 six packs worth of video card. When the expansion came out yesterday and I was "forced" to change to premium lite from classic and my frame rate trippled, I was really ****ed. Eve sucks, leave it, OHH..and if you can login at work or something, since you cant at home, can I hasz your stuff?

I've been running Eve on the IBM Thinkpad Lenovo T60 my job gave me for a year and a half now. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that after this patch, i was able to set everything to low ("Performance" setting), and the whole game both looked better and ran faster than it did 2 days ago.

CCP already continue support for older harware than many companies would bother to. They have decided not to upgrade the minimum requirement to SM3.0 based on customer feedback, my spuer cheap 2-year old laptop can handle that. I was looking on ebay for a cheap desktop that can do the same and believe that (-screen) I can buy a SM3.0 compliant system for under ú100 (approx $150). If we have to (budget) upgrade hardware every 5 years it's a small price to pay for the continued development and improvment of the game as a whole.
