So, yeah, you go right ahead and waste your time dropping shuttles, looters won't mind, it only takes 10 seconds to update a filter.

Darn, the fun was over before I found this thread.
By the way, I fully endorse the idea of scattering unpiloted Navy Ravens throughout mission running hubs to confuse my scanning returns. It's brilliant! ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

Keep trying, the make your own solution is a lot better than the whining. I for one like the blow them up so they don't get them. They can say it's fun to watch, but it kills the profession as a whole. The "pros" will laugh, but new comers and half hearted ninjas will give up. I would like to see the ninjas man up and head into WH's to ninja salvage wrecks in there. However most of them are pretty cowardly so, I think that's not going to happen. The best will try I hope.
I'd just like to point out that someone doing this with too many shuttles is not a good idea. While creative, and awesome in theory, the scanning filter means it's useless and the spamming is excessive. Ninja's play by the rules of the game. If you are going to beat them, you should try stuff out that isn't overkill. If you win by means of breaking game mechanics they will have their way and you will get GM'Ganked. If you take a subtle and smart approach we will have them spending a little longer than 47 minutes trying to figure out what to do.

This is because with the new probing system, you cant tell what you are scanning untill you scan in close. With all of these extra ships on scan, it will throw off, confuse and outright demoralise a vast number of salvage ninjas. We usually get at least 1-2 mission ninjas a day strike out corp. Last night we had none, and neither did any of our friends, so early signs that it is working, this could be down to the pirates getting used to their new scanners however, time will tell.
All you have to do is drop the shuttle, bookmark the location and every 20 days hop inside it again to refresh its deletion timer.
Do the same, get the mission ninjas to earn their own isk instead of stealing yours.
Not to take a giant dump on your plan here...but I can set a scan filter to exclude anything but missionships. Unless of course you want to start dumping battleships all around the system

the idea is good however you can set the probe filter to only show ships of the type your interested in say "battleships" this way your shuttle idea becomes completly useless sadly

is there really any money in ninja salvaging? sounds like a lot of work for someone else scraps. i'm familiar with the loot and salvage from lvl 4 missions, and if you only get some of that after scanning someone down it all sounds pretty lose/lose. i saw the word 'honor' in this thread which i know is code for "no isk".

I think this can be easily countered by all the mission runners dropping 10-20 Battleships/Battlecruisers at strategic locations throughout the system. That'll show those pesky ninja salvagers!

There is. You can scan people down much much faster than they can run lvl4's. Sure you 'only' get the salvage, but in some types of mission that's where all the isk is. You run your lvl4's and do what? 1 an hour, one every 2 hours? I salvage and get 30-50 hits in the same time. I only make 50% of what you do per mission, but I get them done in 10 mins.
With the old scanning system I used to get so many hits I was giving them out to other salvagers because I couldn't do them all before the runners handed them in/salvaged themselves. (im going to assume the new one will happily cut that back as its taking be a lot longer to probe people out these days)

Military experts are wondering if this will be Tchells next business idea.. "Sponsor a Ninja?"
Edit: My ninja is doing well, I recently received a letter in my monthly update-pack which probably cost more than 3mil. Still, it's the thought that counts, right?
