It looks about the same except the new one is oblong. ______________ Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn. |

I like it. Possibly it's no better, but I was bored of the old one.
Camera shake - didn't everyone turn that off anyway ?

Seriously, bring back the old one.At least make it optional. You brought out a good patch and people are having fun. It's not so bad to admit once in a while some bad moves and listen to your playerbase.Warping is the most comon action in EVE and now its less attractive. Many newbies quit this game out of bordom and i think this is one more step towards it. It should be the other way around, but the non-shaking warp makes me sick.

You have, like the opposite of motion sickness ? I feel for you dude.
Here is the rub - people do quit out of boredom, but *not* because of some pointless graphical effect that has been taken out, People quick because of Pos-Snorefare (PVP Players) or lack of exciting missions (PVE Players).
That is what needs fixing
point 2 already (hopefully) addressed in Aprocifilias with wormholes point 1 almost addressed in Quantum Rise with Faction Warfare (please, please work on it some more CCP)

Camera shake needs to come back, no question. I think warping is totally weak without it.
Didn't like it? You could turn it off. I liked it, and I have no option to turn it back on.
If they wanted to do away with it, they could have at least changed camera shake to "off by default". I mean who would have a problem with that?
Way to "fix" something that worked just fine.

I also agree with OP.
I also getting more bored with warping.
I also didn't like the new warp effect, all settings on max, looks too much like liquid most of the time.
Looks worse if you look behind your ship where you can see where it ends and you have some kind of wavy ripping effect.

I don't care for the new warp either. Looks like a simple blur shader. The old shake & tunnel was far better.
Well at least I got to taste the old game a bit. This always happens when I try a game they over expand and change good things.

I totally agree with the OP. I find the new warp effect both very very ugly (like if I look at the "watery effect" it just looks like a pile of edgy black-o-transparent shapes forming around my ship) and gameplay experience-reducing because for some strange reason it causes my client to drop from 80 to under 20 fps the second I click warp (still can't figure out that one)
So for me it's very very annoying :(
PS: playing on 1280x800 with 24/8 and 32/z-buffer + shader/textures at high and all other eye-killing effects such as bloom/hdr and shadows OFF. :D DESTROYED

It's very meh and the lack of any sense of motion is awful. There really is no easy visual clue that you're coming out of warp. You're just in this watery, blurred bubble and then bam, you're at your destination.
I really miss the violent shake of the last warp graphic as you could easily tell when the tunnel was breaking down.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my frustration here. I feel like my warp has been totally neutered. It went from pit bull to rat dog. Peterbilt to Hyundai. The old sound effect, that's been around since I played Eve in beta, was visceral. Coupled with the camera shake (that you could turn off if it bothered you) it gave you the sense that you were a part of something powerful, that this was a truly awesome machine at your command. Now it's like riding the elevator. Not only that, but the graphic effects now look kinda half-assed.
Given how much time we spend warping from place to place in Eve, I'm truly sorry about these changes. Most of the other changes, I'm psyched about. But these seemingly small (and to some, insignificant) changes are really for the worse. Here's hoping we can reach some compromise.

ofc, but once in a while I turned it back on for the warp. usually cursed myself for doing so in the next "missile bombardment" though guess I won't be doing that anymore.

Agree with majority of posters here. Much of the new patch is really good, or will be really good, but we need a sense of motion back in the warp.
Considering how much time we spend in warp, and how easy it might be to give us the *option* to have some camera shake and power back, I hope the development team will grant us this small relief in the sure to be upcoming patch. |

what I don't like about the new warp effect is, it ends far too quickly, the effect completely disappears but my ship is still in warp for another 10 seconds or so, it's silly ------------------- |

And I miss the Gallente shopping mall interior.

Originally by: Vorlich Dreculia Anyone else think that the graphic looks broke? It used to be so awesome, with a red and a blue shift. I thought I noticed it getting less promininent with the last patch, and now with this one it's gone totally!
That was one of the best things about the graphics, the colour shifting was brilliant!!! They should have taken it further, so ships wityh a faster warp speed create a greater shift.
Does this mean EVE will be dumbed down in other ways?
There still is a red and blue shift....

Heh, actually I have the same problem with the motion issue. This isn't the only MMO I play (I play EQ2 as well), if I go from one of my main chars with 50% run speed to a lowbie with no run speed, I get nauseous (not full on sick, but slightly dizzyish) pretty quick from the fast to slow, I feel like I'm moving in molasses.
Unfortunately the new warp graphic does just that to me, it feels like I'm barely moving and I've had to take regular breaks playing, especially doing courier missions. I like the new jump gate graphic, but I really would like to see the old warp-tunnel effect back, or at least a toggle for it. It felt like I was moving fast and tearing through space, not a leisurely stroll. It was also obvious when you were at the end of your warp, the tunnel would disappear and you'd be there. I can barely tell when I've arrived at my destination now.

The graphic is fine, if a bit subtle. It's something you see all the time so shouldn't be outrageous.
It just cuts off way too early. I feel like I'm drifting for a really looooooong time then I finally drop out of warp... like what the hell?
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Edited by: Maria Kalista on 12/03/2009 12:16:23 I liked it at first. Now... Well, what I really miss is the awesome 'WHOOSH' sound of being picked up by something huge and then thrown away over epic light years and light years. Like the warp sound 'Mass Effect has'.
It now just whistles. like 'wsss...' and you're in another star system.
'Wsss'. that sounds... wrong.
