Anyone else think that the graphic looks broke? It used to be so awesome, with a red and a blue shift. I thought I noticed it getting less promininent with the last patch, and now with this one it's gone totally!
That was one of the best things about the graphics, the colour shifting was brilliant!!! They should have taken it further, so ships wityh a faster warp speed create a greater shift.
Does this mean EVE will be dumbed down in other ways?

I think it looks purdy. Seems to make more sense than effects that made it sound like you where trying to break the sound barrier in atmosphere...

New warp is awesome. But CCP went overboard on the water effects. I feel like I'm playing FFXI again. SAME STYLE, DIFFERENT COLOR. </cuemusic>. _____

I like the new graphic. The old one made it seem as if there were some tunnel in space that you were flying through. That said, with the addition of wormholes it was probably a wise change. --------------------------------------

Agree with OP, but not sure what the 'dumbed down' comment is about. In-joke? Anyway yeah, the other new effects are great, but the warp looks a bit shoddy IMO.

The new warp looks awesome. Just make sure you have all your graphic options turned on and it looks far better then it used to.

Most of the time if I don't have a reference point I can't even tell I'm in warp, but that might just be my graphics settings.

It's not your settings. I tried several options. I occasionally think I'm seeing the shifts, but then I realise I'm just flying from red coloured space towards blue coloured.
It is in sync with the other graphics changes, but to be honest I don't think they are all necessarily a step forwards.
I like almost every other graphics change I've seen (webbing looks a bit gay) but this one just doesn't feel as good as it used to be.

Originally by: Vorlich Dreculia It used to be so awesome, with a red and a blue shift.
The red and blue shifting is still there, just VERY subdued. In fact, that seems to be the main theme of the graphic changes, they're VERY subtle now, except a few, like POS shields.
I don't mind so much. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

It shouldnt be unless your in the last 10 seconds of your warp.
Have you restarted your client after turning graphics up?
Hit optimize and set it for quality, then make sure you turn everything on, n restart your client.

I just read that due to patching problems alot of people are having missing textures with the new warp effect.
You may want to try redownloading the client and reinstalling, then making sure you got your graphics optimized for quality.

I like the new effect, I just wish they'd kept the shake from the old warp... just felt a bit more violent instead of the peaceful way of being hurled from nothing to a gazillion miles per hour in a few seconds

I miss the violence that was the old warp. The shaking and pop of entering warp. I dont like that the new warp effect fades after some time and it looks like your not even moving.
Also turn down station audio or turn up other sounds. -----------------------------------------------------

Please bring back the old warping effect.
Warping used to have a satisfying feel to it. Even though it did sound like you were breaking the sound barrier, it still gave a very positive reinforcement that something was happening.
The sound, the shaking, the tunnel -- bring it all back, please :)

Yes, the new warp is too calm! The old one had great sense of speed and the shaking effects were great. Please please make this a client option!

I don't mind the subdued warp effect, if it would only last until i'm on target. It looks like i'm out of warp when i'm still 10-15 seconds away from warp destination.

New warp effect feels way too sterile, the old one made it feel like you were ripping across space and time with a massive, deadly vessel.
The new one is at best boring and at worst creates the impression you're not even moving.

Totally agree! End of warp always has me wondering "are we done what! oh..." - not an improvement that way. Also we need an "in station" sound level control. As it stands, there is no way to keep things level without using the SVM feature on my card which has a negative affect on a variety of ambient effects in the game.
Please fix this - thx

Edited by: Neo Omni on 12/03/2009 00:47:32 The red and blue shift was actually (in the world of physics) correct. As one approaches the speed of light, everything before you will appear blue while everything behind you will appear red. The faster, the more intense the effect. This is the electromagnetic radiation equivalent of the screaming train running past you. High pitched as it approaches, followed by low pitch as it passes.
Anyway, that is the one thing I liked about the warp in this game, now I don't like it. It looks like I'm flying thru water or something.
I know EVE isnt real life, but it would be nice if they stuck with real life physics.
There are other optical aberrations involved in close to light speed travel...maybe the Dev team will look into it someday. Just open a textbook on Einstein's Relativity.

It's called the Doppler effect, Einstein.

The new warping effect totally killed my sense of speed that the old one had... Also, gone are the new Star map (back to pre-TQ with no zoom-in, zoom-out), engine trails and clocking effect... Seems like we went back a year for those and well... the new wrap just feels crappy.
But I really like the jumping bubble thingy.
