Originally by: Durzel I'm quite sure that when Level 5 missions came out there would've been people moaning that the risk/reward was too skewed
Indeed, general consensus before the patch was that Lvl 5 were not worth the effort.
Quote: as someone else remarked in this thread people actually did state (as fact) that rigs would be too expensive for your average person to fit, and guess what - everyone rigs their ships nowadays.
Only after a massive increase of drop rates. Before that, yes rigs were way too expensive (think T2 rigs).
And they're still massively unbalanced: most of the popular rigs are "obvious choices", far from the intended goal of cheap ship-implants meant to add diversity to fittings (remember you were supposed to put rigs on T1 frigates and destroyers...).
Proof of the poor balance of rigs: most rigs are never used at all. Salvage used by popular rigs cost 1000 times more than salvage needed by useless rigs.
Now rigs/salvage unbalance doesn't matter much, because salvaging isn't a profession, it's merely a byproduct of ratting and mission running. So it only destroyed the profit of running Arch/Sal magnetometric explo sites, no big deal.
It's different for T3, because sleeper salvages are a major part of a very complex production chain. Price of sleeper salvage is linked to gas harvesting and reverse engineering of T3 technology. It will be much more complicated to balance than ordinary rigs made from 3 different salvages and one (hisec NPC seeded) cheap T1 BPO.
You trust CCP for that? Sorry, I can't. They can't balance the most basic minerals in the game (Veldspar being worth 3 times more than Jaspet = it ruined lowsec), they regularly add failed content that nobody uses (Faction drones, Combat boosters...).
Wormholes are a great concept, but it feels way too rushed to actually work. But maybe in one or two years?

Apparently not everyone got rich in the gold rushes either.
This proves that gold is worthless and that soon, everyone will go back to working in a supermarket.

If you're looking at JUST the rats, then you'll most likely not want to go to WH space. Then again.. Were you in the EASY ones? Sounds like. Highsec belts don't give big bounties on the rats. You have to go to 0.0 for that.
Same with WH's. The easy ones pay less then the hard ones.
I dont think will matter if you go in harder or easyer WH space.
Becose if u go in a hard one you go with a gang and the reward will be splited. The risk is the same too.

So good.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

From what I've seen, the differences are massive. Like the harder ones will shower you with loots. The lower-end sleepers drop so little that it's almost a complete waste of time. You then see a significant increase when fighting the next higher level of sleeper, which still even aren't too tough.
The difficulty of the hardest spawns may be completely out of whack, however.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING OP? WHAT? WHAT? WHERE'S THE WEED??!!
Seriously, when I can make 10m in as many minutes killing 4 frigates in a Thorax, where I'd need a BS to make as much running L4 missions. This is the first PvE that has actually had a semi-competitive fun value compared with PvP.
I mean, *gasp* you actually have to think and have skill to fight sleepers, vs tap F1 for a bit, then tap F2 in L4's. And the loot is WORTH IT. T3 ships are the most inventive thing I've seen in a year of EVE, and they look to be TOTALLY FRAKKING WORTH every second of time that so many people are pumping into getting the loot and salvage.
And maybe you're just too much of a sissy to appreciate the fun of being stranded with some buddies, fighting almost PvP-level NPC's, and getting more cash's worth of loot than the Dead Sea scrolls.
So grow a pair, get some real friends, learn there's more to life than cash, and GTFO of these forums. ______________________________________________

Originally by: Cailais Its too early to tell the sucess or failure of Wormhole space. We dont know how popular or otherwise the T3 cruisers will be (noting we are still missing 2 subsytems), or the impact of future T3 ship classes (T3 BS for example). So any comparison with level 4s in high sec is rather redundant until the market comes into play.
Secondly W Space is not wholly about 'ratting for ISK'. It also provides a unique capability in terms of universe travel. In this respect it must be seen as a very sucessful feature. I was able to travel from Catch to Insmother (a massive journey through EVE traditionaly) simply through using one WH System.
I realise its forum etiquette around here to stamp 'fail' on everything CCP produces but I really think on this occasion we simply have to wait and see.

This.
Thank you Cailais. You saved me the pains of writing that down on my own. And this thread isn't really worth that effort.

Following ccp's statements over the last month, the goings on on the test server and the current implementation of t3 and w-space on tq it would appear, as usual, they lack logical consistency.
As usual Akita is hitting the nail on the head and being argued against by people lacking the mental acuity to tie a shoelace.

Akita, posting constantly doesn't make you right.
People who are looking at sleepers in the OMG MUST FARM FOR MAX ISK WITH NO RISK mindset are hopeless for this anyways. Sleepers might not be as profitable as farming lvl 4s in a 0.5 system in your faction fit CNR or whatever, but it's still profitable if you know what you're doing, and more importantly, it's a hell of a lot more fun.

So if we go in the harder parts of Unknown space with big gangs, we can earn more.
That make sense.

I feel like smacking you in the head. The market DEMAND is influenced by CCP, by setting the capabilities of the items. The market SUPPLY is influenced by CCP, by setting build amounts of materials needed and drop rates of resources. Explain to me again now how CCP DOESN'T actually set at least some rough prices, but use LOGIC next time.
I think you both actually have good points, but I think it's pretty subtle really. CCP influences the value ratio between things by their attributes and also with factors such as scarcity and time/difficulty to produce etc.
Ultimately it is a player driven market, CCP influences prices sure, but they do not set the prices.
