ok it depends there are sevral each with there own advantages.
maller is great for amour tanking and no need for ammo
rupture for its sheer damage at long range(shame the tempest dont work aint it)
vexor for its abilty to use 15 drones when max out skills
thorax for is fast speed and blaster damge
carcel cause of is massisive missle damage
and moa for its shield tanking
so think what race am i and how to i want to fight? long range or short, with drones or with out thats the question.
however thorax is prob the best allrounder for npc, pvp and mining

Or you could save all those unnecessary words and simply say: The Thorax is the best cruiser ever, without argument. Buy it because everyone else does.

Well its best for BS killin on my opinion (well theres also the BB) but otherwise its questionable, simply put a scyth could be considerd the best cruiser, it always always ALWAYS depends on the situation in paticular, doesnt matter what yyou fly if you happen to come across somone with the right equipment yu'll die alll the same.

I'd say that the Thorax is the best all-around (good speed and agility, good damage with both railguns and blasters, and nice drone bay). Most battleships will be in deep trouble if a pair of Thoraxes manage to close on.
Next I'd say the Moa, who can mount 4*250 + 2 heavy missile launchers. It's rail range bonus allow him to use more damaging ammos, and it's also a good shield tank.
Rupture is also good, and is faster than the others, but can't deal as many damge.
Caracals and Mallers, I didn't tested, but they seem nice.

for speed + drones + damage + decent hitpoint regenm, thorax, thorax is also the best miner with basic skills due to drones for defence and 5 turrent hardpoints

Rupture is fast yes, and it can deal lots of damage, just you need good gunnery skills to hit now  Better than a Moa imo.

Didn't the second cruiser bonus make opsrey the best miner? (Don't know about the defence side though)
