i seem to have no probs hitting with my ruptures 720mm and 650mm howies, my average damage is anything from 50-450 hp damage. you got to love those wreaking hits, at the mo cause they hit and the damage they do so rock on the rupture thats 425mm rail damage, with 2 heavy launchers, i can run my t2 booster for about 10mins before i need to recharge, and i got 600m/3 drone space, i think that beats a moa dont you?

yes, Thorax should get the drone bay nerf that was originally slated for it, that would go a long way to balance it.

Personally I fly a Rupture.
Why? Faster, smaller signature, massive damage. My only objective is to kill the enemy first. I get standard hits for about 200 on average (between 170 and 230) with its 4 720's.
Of course I use it for PvP and have a Blackbird wingman to jam the enemy.
Thorax is the most powerful all around cruiser I think, and that means it does need a nerf. Dropping its drone bay would be great.
As for the others, the Maller and Omen both look good with the new stats. Moa, Blackbird and Caracal are still incredible ships as well.
I'd say go with whatever ship you prefer though, in the end its all about fun.

In this order :
Thorax, MOA, Caracal, Rupture, Maller, Vexor, Bellicose, Blackbird, Celesis, Argurator, Exequorer then the rest in any order you want.
Personally the Thorax, MOA and Rupture can be the deadliest with with my super tracking setup. Maller comes in second in damage but Caracal gets put above both Rupture and Maller for being an uber missile boat. -----

Is this one of those ship stuck bugs between an Auguror and an Arbitrator? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Can't agree more with u but u should include the rupture too.....it's an excellent ship too for PvP.

I completely agree with you. The presence of a cruiser clearly more powerfull then the others, means that the game is not well balanced. In other words: it's a bug. I really hate this kind of bugs because they kill one of the most importante (to me) aspect of this kind of games: the possibilty to customize different ships with different setups. If there is one ship (or weapon, or item in general) better then the others you finally have no choice: unless you want to be weaker then the others, you have to use it. I left AO because this unbalancing. I'm still in the trial phase of the game and now I'm quite worried about this issue. I've still 5 days to take the decision to subscribe or not, so now I ask you: there other issues similar to this one? Usually are they fixed? Thx in advance

Well in my experience when changes are needed to be made they are sometimes overdone and your current ship of choice can be 'broken' for ages before other changes if any are made to reconcile this. This is the biggest drawback of the game for me atm although i guess in some cases it has to be accepted. There always seems to be a flavour of the month and if you try and specialise with one race of ships you can and do get penalised.
I believe that with new frigates and cruisers being introduced and close range being the king of these ships generally that the Gallente will rule for damage and caldari for support roles. The recent changes to BS's also have not made much difference to balance imo, the tempest was popular for pvp and now not wheraes the apoc was not that popular for pvp and now is.

Time to derail this thread completely:
I have seen plenty of people writing Moa as MOA. Why is this? I always assumed it was taken from the bird name in line with other Caldari ship names (look here for the bird, for example) rather than being an abbreviation. Is it actually an abbreviation or what?

Now I don't see what's so good about Thorax? I have 2 of those and of course I've tried doing missions in them, but could only come to the conclusion that they suck big time. Not even with 5x RCU could I fit 5x 250mm on it.
I will keep doing missions in my Rupture instead, even before the new bonus it was so much better than Thorax in battle, and now it's much better when I can use projectile turrets as was intended (before new bonus hybrids was more effective for me). I even prefer a Stabber for missions over the mining-only Thorax. |
