Can we get the 1744 patch out as an emergency fix or atleast optional patch for the 1000s of players on dial up access?
At the moment pvp is unplayable and the 1744 patch seems to address this, atleast in the limited testing i've done.

Let me get this right, you want a patch.. to increase your line speed?
are you one of those people that downloads software promising to increase you connection speed?
Get on ISDN or equivilent cable service, it only costs about ú3 more a month than your AOL dialup.
The old "waaa i have no money" excuse is just that.. an excuse. Being on dialup actually costs you more money in terms of time it takes you to do the simplest of things like read a few web pages, check your email.
paying some more money to get off dialup is well worth the lack of stress and means you can actually get stuff done when you use the PC.
Dialup internet was never intended to play games over, it was for plain text web pages. The fact you can play games on it at all is down to some canny programmers over the years.

Your ignorance is insulting, had you read the patch notes or have even the slightest idea of what i'm talking about you would realise how stupid you made yourself look.
1744 is meant the fix the problem where agression stances aren't being cached and so when pvp is initiated you sit there unable to do anything, you modules doing nothing, while EVE does its calculations. This happens everytime an agressive act is started, from my understanding, when it shouldn't. This is why for those who are on dial up access pvp is unplayable.

EVE Lags for ADSL users in combat, always has always will do, unfortunatly people with 56k dialup etc. cannot play this game they pay for with ease, I have tried to log-in with 56k and it took so long i disconnected, its rediculous and something needs to be brought in to aid those in need.
Note: SOME people cannot get higher connections than 56k/isdn for numerous reasons.

Yes it does ;lag even for people on DSL. im on a 1.5mb connection and it still lags.
you miss my point, you are using a steam roller, and expecting it to do the job of a F1 car.
In ANY game i have ever played people on dialup whine that they get lag, and im sorry but what on earth do you expect. People have been whining about lag on dialup as long as dialup has been around, but as i said 56k was never intended to play games over, it was for loading plain text web pages with.
No matter how tuned EVE becomes, you are still going to get lag! why? because your using a steam roller to enter a F1 race!
its like complaining to blockbuster that the VHS tape you just hired hasnt got extra features on it and isnt as good quality as the DVD Mr Bloggs rented out.

Tristan your ignorance amusues me quite a bit, you seem to think that since its not your problem its not a problem at all and nothing but whining, the recent patch has almost killed the game for dial up users and a fix is being or already has been made, not yet launched on TQ though.
That rant you made about people being to cheap to buy better connection shows that you have a very hard time figuring out how things are where you do not live and again your ignorance just hurts my brain when I read your posts in this thread, why you ask, its simple and I will write it down in bold here below.
Some towns do not have better connections than dial up, I know its hard to understand but you must know with all your infinite wisdom that.
But as I said, you are one of those who dont see a problem if it does not affect you, so you sir are nothing but a disgrace to the community in Eve for you only think of your self, I mean wtf is up with this attitude towards dial up users anyways?
Some people are just silly little creatures arent they. Spawn of the Devil

Yes Eve lags for everyone.
Yes there is a problem where agression causes lag to happen.
Yes this impacts low-bw users (eg 56K dial-up) the most.
There's no reason to look down on people that are unable to get DSL-type connections. A very real part of the lag experienced by 56k dial up users is this agression bug.

its a shame we all can't be as uber as Tristan. He is so cool. Wish I could be as rich as him. Maybe one day, when I get this uber ISP connection, I can be as insulting, demeaning, and completely ignorant to others just like him!! Oh I can't wait!

No omniwar you miss read me, im not being ignorant. It must suck to be in such an area. several of my RL friends are in such an area. One has started a wireless group and between him and a few people in his street they have got a little broadband group going while BT pulls its head out of the sand.
I personally live less than a mile outside my town center, yet cant pickup Freeview digital TV because of a stupid big hill in the way.
It sucks, however using a screwdriver to do the job of a hammer and then complaining it wont work IS ignorant. Complain to the right people, its not my fault you live where you do, its not CCP's fault, its not anyone else who happens to have a beter connection.
ITS YOUR LOCAL EXCHANGE / BRITISH TELECOMS FAULT.
Please, complain to them every day until they stop holding back this countrys telecomunications network with their short sighted monopolistic behaviour.
You dont hear me complaining about how those people in Sweden have got 100mbit connections and how its just not fair i cant upload at the same speeds those guys do.
As i said earlier, and as Orestes said, the game currently lags for everyone. However what Orestes didnt say is, even when it is fixed it will STILL lag for 56k users. Why? because its 56k!!!! its not ignorant, its just how it is. Complain to your local MP, Complain to BT, NTL, Telewest and whoever else is supposed to cover your local areas land lines and cable. But quit whining at the rest of us because that wont get you anywhere.
its not ignorant, its not looking down on "the little people", its called common sense.
Can i come here complaining to you about how the pair of ú65 Trousers i bought 2 week ago have been worn twice and the zips chewed up and got stuck? NO, you would wonder why the hell i was telling you.

Edited by: LLeBRing on 15/08/2004 17:51:57 Tristan you are simply responding with a bunch of garbage that has nothing to do with what Darkcraft was asking.
He wasn't complaining, he wasn't whining, he didn't say he lost 29231291213 bs's because lag is unbearable.
He is asking when will that latest patch on Chaos be ported to TQ so that those with lower dial-up speeds can see some benefits to game play.
Incidently even your uber connection speed will see benefits as well.
You seem to be a very angry individual. Probably want to take your frustrations somewhere else

Im not an angry individual, maybe take your little insults elsewhere?
If you can, look into getting on a 256kbs line, ISDN usually proves to be more expensive. However several cable companies offer "midband" at the same price some companies offer dialup, sometimes even cheaper.
A friend of mine lives about 0.2 miles too far away from his local exchange to get broadband. so what he did is get a few neighbours together and they set up a wireless group and bridged a connection over to someone who was in the broadband area.
Another couldnt get DSL because theres no cable on his street and again hes too far from the exchange, but BT did install him ISDN at a reasonable price (compared to normal ISDN) because he complained a lot at them for messing him about making promises of DSL they couldnt keep.
Do something about it, but dont expect everyone else to fix it for you. complain to your local MP, BT, NTL and Telewest also, if you dont they wont do anything.
*EDIT: something else that might be of interest to you, though no comfort just now im afraid is this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3561808.stm

Yup, I cant wait to see this patch, i hope it puts it back to the same way as it was before the criminal flag patch.
Well Done CCP I was really happy to see a fix for this.
@ Tris, people like me on dial up dont expect to have a totally lag free game, but we do expect to play the game we pay for, the system was broken with bad coding and has been fixed..I really dont see what your point, but i just take it you dont have one!
And as for people being on dial up being cheap?? I probably spend twice if not more on my connection than you do on your high speed one.

I know your pain Darkcraft, I've been avoiding PvP altogether whilst I've been home on my dial-up which connects at 46k (crappy lines between here & mainland britian). Can't wait to get away to Glasgow & bb again.
Tristan - EVE is designed to be playable on a 56k modem. It was one of the selling points of the game and so if it doesn't work properly then there is a problem which has to be dealt with. And upgrading isn't always an option either. Where I live ISDN isn't even an option yet at my exchange and where it is it costs a lot more than broadband (go figure!).
Can we have a response from CCP on this please?
