wheni first started playing i was on 28k through earthlink. All dialup providers in town used teh same colocation servers so no matter which i wet to, I ended up at 28k-24k dialup speeds. I paid $24 USD /month for the first 5-6 months of the game and understand your pain. When cable finally moved to town I was to be charged $9k to runt he line and install it....well screw that. Finally wireless showed up about 5 months ago and here I am. I pay 4 times more and would be willing to pay 2 times more then I am now for even cable if it was only possible.
I dont think its a matter of what he can or cannot due just rather how the game worked before the patch and after. Now even with wireless it still has some problems during combat so i could only imagine what it would be like for 56kers. Good luck rona

Im not an angry individual, maybe take your little insults elsewhere?
If you can, look into getting on a 256kbs line, ISDN usually proves to be more expensive. However several cable companies offer "midband" at the same price some companies offer dialup, sometimes even cheaper.
A friend of mine lives about 0.2 miles too far away from his local exchange to get broadband. so what he did is get a few neighbours together and they set up a wireless group and bridged a connection over to someone who was in the broadband area.
Another couldnt get DSL because theres no cable on his street and again hes too far from the exchange, but BT did install him ISDN at a reasonable price (compared to normal ISDN) because he complained a lot at them for messing him about making promises of DSL they couldnt keep.
Do something about it, but dont expect everyone else to fix it for you. complain to your local MP, BT, NTL and Telewest also, if you dont they wont do anything.
*EDIT: something else that might be of interest to you, though no comfort just now im afraid is this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3561808.stm
Tristan, really, how many times do people have to explain it to you before you get the point. Eve currently has a technical issue that is making dialup and ISDN and ADSL rubbish for combat. Once upon a time it was quite playable with dialup ... now when you initiate aggression there is a whacking great lag delay before anything starts happening. Thats the issue, and thats the thing the thread starter wanted addressing with an emergency patch. Now maybe you haven't been doing much combat lately but the current situation is ridiculous, its turned real-time combat into a play by mail game.
For example, on friday I attacked a Blackbird cruiser with my Taranis. Locked the target, set orbit 500meters. Clicked guns, nosferatu, mwd, web, scramblers etc. Nothing happened for about 30 secs. When eve finally caught up the Blackbird was almost dead (I launched drones and killed it) and my Taranis was in armour.
Now good result maybe, but I didn't get to see it! The whole combat was decided before the lag resolved and thats ridiculous.
I am currently using ISDN because BT can't supply ADSL to my rural location, but the ISDN I have now is worse than the dial up I used to use because of this Eve technical glitch.
So please, catch a clue and read what people are actually saying.
Its not about our telecom provision decisions ... its a game programming flaw that has been introduced by recent patches.

It does affect everyone, Joshua, but because dial-up users have lower bandwidth available to them, the information sent when agression is initiated can be too much.
I have ADSL and notice an increase in lag when agression is initiated as well. I can only imagine what it's like for people with lower bandwidths.
Also, stop flaming eachother, no need for that.

I haven't noticed any change in lag when locking and activating modules against someone or does this kind of thing not happen in 0.0 space?

Yep it happens in 0.0 too, but the better connection you have, the less likely you are to notice it.
Some friends who have good banwidth dont notice a thing, unless fighting many people at the same time. Players with adsl but not very good adsl notice it slightly but its more of a stutter...but the people on dial up and isdn get prolonged lag. This lag can sometimes last for over a minute....thats a minute without being able to activate a module at all.

hrmm.. i seem to remember hearing of a kind of limit to the up/down streams in eve that prevented dslers from having too much of an advantage over 56kers lag-wise. presumably this flagging issue imposes a 2nd limit that a dsler with up/down to spare doesnt get hit by, but the 56kers that dont have the spare bandwidth get smacked down badly.
meanwhile it seems tristan has been blinded by his own holy light and has taken the opportunity to flame 56kers for either being in a place unfortunate enough to not have a dsl-enabled exchange, or being unable to afford the costs to upgrade. attempts by other forums members to clear this selfimposed lack of vision from his eyes appear to have been met by shear blind ignorance.
kinda reminds me of 'dont argue with an idiot, they'll drag you down to there level and beat you with experience'

yes 256k is ISDN or "midband"
However if you live in a cabled area some cable companies offer 256k line speeds, i think NTL's is slightly faster at around 350kbs or so. They tend to be around ú3 more a month than your average 56k subscription to say.. AOL or Wanadoo. so if thats an option for you its well worth looking into.
BT's ISDN is as the poster said above more expensive than cable for some unfathomable reason, is unreliable (disconnects often etc) and has time limits on how long you can stay connected at full speed.
If you live close to an area that IS cabled up, it is worth looking into setting up a local Wireless broadband group with some neighbours. many people have done it before, whole villages in some parts of the UK get access to broadband this way, BT has even helped some of them get set up when BT's attitudes thawed a bit.
Check out http://www.consume.net for some info on doing it without the ebil empire being involved. There are also grants available i believe from the government or EU in setting up such projects, as i said in some places whole towns have got themselves "enabled" this way. Obviously if you are connected this way, if mr Smith down the road is downloading all night it will affect your bandwidth. But still.. beats being on 56k line with no hope of getting off it.
obviously these options arent available to everyone, i realise that before saying it, even though im ignorant and ebil and all that.

Please apply a patch fixing delay with activation on TQ. Tested on the Chaos server, it is fine.

Darkcraft - I feel for you bud.. Lag is the achilles heel of this game.
But since when has Ccp ever bothered about Lag issues? Numerous posts on the subject - Little to no response and very little action.
Imho just because some one is telling you they are doing their best - doesnt actually mean that something is being done to redress the problem.
Hope the patch comes out sooner rather than later(TM) for you bud.
