Apologies if this is being discussed elsewhere (feel free to lock/merge if it is), but we all know search doesn't work too well and I didn't want to clog up the main Apocrypha feedback thread with a mess of /signed for one relatively non-critical issue. I seem to recall reading somewhere a CCP guy say that if enough people said they wanted the pre-Apocrypha fitting window back, they would consider it. Well, allow me to emphatically say yes, I would like that.
The new window isn't as chaotic and arbitrary as the original mockup in the devblog, but it still got a lot of issues and frankly doesn't bring much to the table for non T3 ships. The old low/med/high layouts had spatial relevance, and just made sense--high was 'on top' of med, which was on top of low. Which makes perfect sense to anybody who's undocked and noticed how the modules show up on the in-space UI. The new system is way too arbitrary--maybe it makes armor tankers feel better that their mods arent 'on the bottom' or something, but it's confusing and totally nonintuitive.
The 'PIP window' is sort of cool, but it slows down performance and adds absolutely nothing for non T3 ships. Let's not forget, the ship is also being displayed behind the window so it's effectively rendering the scene twice. If I want to see what my ship looks like, I can simply move or minimize the fitting window and there it is, in all its glory.
Displaying the ammunition instead of the weapon with small ammo icon is a major step backward. When I'm messing with fittings I want to be able to tell at a glance what I have fitted, not have to mouse over everything to see. While on the subject, the drop-down icons when mousing a module don't really do anything that a good right click doesn't.
To clarify, I'm not saying to remove the new version entirely, as I understand it has some features that are necessary for T3 ships. But I would like to have the option to use the old style fitting for non T3 ships if I want to. If it aint broke dont fix it, and change just for the sake of change is not productive. Anyone else agree, or am I totally out of my gourd here? _________________ [IMAGE REMOVED] -- aka Cpt Bogus -- Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

I like that you can know what you recharge rate is and be able to save profiles to the corp etc. it's not as bad as what they did to scanning.

This. They need to concentrate on fixing something that actually has problems, not the fitting window, which is fine.

The fitting screen looks awesome and works well it does not need to be changed so a big thumbs down to removing it. If they add the old fitting screen as a toggle between the 2 that would be cool. But I will def stay with the new one.
On the scanning matter for atleast exploration it is perfect. I have no idea about combat scanning because id rather just PVP and leave the combat scanner to someone way better in that field then me. But for exploration It rocks I love it!

It's fine in theory, but the lack of an ability to archive previous scan results or exclude previously scanned down sites makes scanning frustrating at best in wormhole systems where there can be 30+ cosmic signatures, especially in smaller systems where they are hopelessly clustered together.

This is what I'm asking for, an option to choose which one to use for non T3 ships. _________________ [IMAGE REMOVED] -- aka Cpt Bogus -- Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

This is what I'm asking for, an option to choose which one to use for non T3 ships.
That's like asking: "Why can we no longer chose between Premium and prehisto... I mean "Classic" client? Why don't you continue wasting half your development time on a completely outdated client?"
Why would they continue working on the excel screen? It would have to be updated to support T3 ships bare minimum and even then people would start asking for saved-fittings support, too. Instead, I'd much rather see them spend their resources on fixing and improving the new fitting screen. Especially since more than likely half of all the complainers only complain about it, because it's new and requires some getting used to.
And don't forget the fact that most people only post when there's something to complain about. The vast majority of satisfied customers prefers to play the game instead of hanging out in the forums. It's a common problem for pretty much all product related community portals.

please stop with the useless petition topics. I love the new fitting window, and after all the time it took them to revamp it, I highly doubt they will be reverting it, so really, just stop cluttering the forums with your useless petition topics. ------------------- |

I have my preference but I am not going to say here.
But I will say this, having both is unlikely as it would involve maintaining two sets of code, and in the long run that eats up developer time and causes bugs. We don't have enough spare cycles on our UI programmers as it is :(
I think if enough people hated it! It would be back to the old window and goodbye to the new.

Don't maintain the old one then, just have an option to choose which one people want to use.
Tbh I doubt if anyone that wants the old window back cares too much if some new feature is new-window only, they just want to be able to use the old window for general ship fitting.

I don't mind the new fitting screen that much, but can we please have the option to disable the 3d ship view in the center.
It really hurts performance on underpowered systems.

How can you even play EVE when your PC starts breaking down at the fitting screen? Srsly.

It work acceptably otherwise, but with the new fitting screen up, framerate takes a real dive.
Hate playing on my laptop, but desktop's out of commission for a while.

Hm, weird. Sounds more like a bug in the code like a problem with the model itself.
OT: How did you change your ingame font? (the screen in your sig ;)

Increase button size give ammo its own 'slot' futher down from the weapon. bigger icons! Option to keep pop up icons displayed, have another option disabable pip or station scene option where you dont get a 3d model just a 2d picture. =============

New window couldn't be bad, if not the constant spin of the ship in it while changing something. Can it please do not do these random movements? EVE in stations lags enough by itself to spare CPU cycles for such funky stuff. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

And make it 2-pages. One for subsystems and other for fitting. Then you'll have enough space for bigger icons. -- Thanks CCP for cu |
