Okay, I didn't mind them very much since they happened so far apart, now its becoming an hourly basis and its time to say something.
I am running: P4 2.4C @ 3.8Ghz MSI 875P NEO 1 gig Corsair XMS Memory Radeon 9800XT
I have used every single driver revision possible for the card with varied results, older drivers caused it to happen much more than the newer ones. The "recommended" drivers dont help one bit. I've cleared the cache folder etc. I have ran this with several other graphics cards, 9700 pro, not a problem, 8500 not a problem, FX5200 i get blackscreens as well. My friend also has a 9800 XT and he also encounters the same problem as I.
Someone encounter the same problem as I do and possibly a fix for it?

You might try running eve in windows 98 compatability mode, instructions are in the XP SP2 thread.
I have had problems with ATi drivers recently and they are not getting any better. I have found the only way out of the problem is to run in the above mode & have not had any crashes since then.

98 compatibility mode did not work, made it even more prevelant.
I have NEVER had a single problem with ATI cards until this came comes about. I've played this about 3 months into the release and I had alot of CTD's, now i get blackscreens and warpin freezes rather than CTD's. And to be honest, they are just as frustrating.
I just hope that when i get my area51-M extreme it wont blackscreen horribly as my desktop computer.

I have the same problem as well. I start the game, choose my character and then?? Nothing. Only my blackscreen. No loading screen, nothing. I dont think its a prob with the graphiccard. It is problem in the game within.

Hey folks, I have repaired my problem. The problem is at my computer Direct X 9c!! If you have DX9c uninstall it with, for example DX Buster. You need your Windows CD. DX Buster reinstalls DX 8.1. And then you can update. HAPPY PLAYING!!

I have no problem with DX9.0c, on SP2, but I did have a problem with onboard sound. I just turned down the music volumn in the client (crappy music anyway) and it works fine now! :)

Same here from day#1 It took me some weeks to figure out it has something to do with network activity on the same LAN/WAN segment.
At least you can reproduce your cases easily:
Start EVE up, play. Start ANY bandwidth sharing tool like e.g. edonkey, overnet, etc.
Wait for 10 minutes..see your effects.
I couldnt think of any other tool for using bandwidth while being able to configure it to only us 1 (one) KB for upload and 4 (four) KB for download - if you have any other that connect and stream up+down constantly in bg please let me know.
I figure likewise happens with your (cable) ISPs as you usually share bandwidth on a segment of the provider that modifies your max up/download over time, because other users may start heavy up/downloads. EVE seems to be jealous of any other app that wants a tiny little bit of bandwidth themselves---maybe a hack protection of the client ?
Devs - give us a hint here please - we can reproduce this.
