As for me...in Jules Verne's Journey To The Center Of The Earth there's a character called Arne Saknussemm, who was supposed to be an Icelander. Fair enough, except his last name makes no sense according to any rules of Icelandic spelling. When I adopted this name over a decade ago for various roleplaying purposes, I modernised the name and dropped the double M. When it came to EvE, I changed the "S" to a "Z", as it felt more appropriate for a futuristic setting. (I discovered the other day that there's a character in EvE who's called Arne Saknussemm.) EDIT: Typo. EDIT 2: Another typo. Time for me to go to bed.

I liked Ben as a first name, easy to pronounce for practically anyone and reminded me of the characters from Star Wars and DS9 who were both well-meaning and always wanted to do good. The surname was just cobbled together with the letters I had left. /Ben

D1ckson I also immensely enjoyed the last novel called, simply, Dorsai! Several more books make up the series which is known as the Childe Cycle but I enjoyed the above two the most. It seems there are a few fans of the books playing EvE as I've bumped into a few pilots also named after a character from the series.

Made the character portrait, changed background, i like being a "helper" or a "law bringer", so Sheriff became a nice "oldschool space pilot" thing. Jones was added due to, well, being generic as a "Sheriff" is. BAsically i chose to play an NPC My opinions represent the opinions of my corporation completely. I'm the CEO damnit.

There are a lot of nicknames in my circle of friends that don't make sense. Anyhow, so I created a Charles Eden character on a trial account but didn't renew it. So when I got back into the game some time later I made a female version of "me"; Charlene. Kinda wish it had been the other way around so I wouldn't be stuck with a female character, but not much to do about it now.

Last name was made from deciding it would be good with 3 syllables and the first word I thought of was Nebula... tried some other ones and decided I liked the sound of nebula but I didnt want it to be an actual word. so went with Nebura. A bit flashy but makes no sense at all.. PERFECT
