Mine comes from being obsessed with Lord of the Rings. I was studying Sindarin on the side and decided to translate my name into Elvish. Druadan is a variation (I added a prefix) on my real first name. If you can figure it out I'll build you an army worthy of Mordor. It's not hard though, even if you have no idea what the hell an elf is. I've used this name in pretty much every game I've played since then, to the effect that most of the Google results for Druadan are me, and most of the rest are about a forest in Middle Earth that has the same name.

Used to play a MUD called Realms of Kaos (lol) when I was like 12... bought a character called Izo (for ingame cash) and wound up creating "Azlion" a few years later, cos it seemed to flow, and it stuck.
I'm 21 now, had the name for 9 years and going strong.

comes from The Wheel of Time series. one of the bad guy¦s. sounded cool and i took it as a nick around 1998. and i was lucky to get it in EvE.
now if you look up my name you get more than 25 people. but im always at the top of the list :)

Anyways, I was trying to come up with a name for a character on that other mmo and had flash cards from me english class containing prefixes, roots and suffixes.

Ad meaning to or toward, val (which my teacher taught had the meaning victory in it but the internet seems to disagree) and ary meaning a person, place or thing that.
So, the name in its initial form meant, someone who moves towards victory.

got Warcyth from the name generator in WoW all those yrs ago.
added a few letters and I got Warscythe which is also one of the best Weapons a Necron Lord has (Warhammer 40k). About the only positive thing to comeout of wow imo

When I first joined an MMORPG there was a standard tip how to generate a name... basically it was "take the first syllables of first name + last name + maiden name of mother + place of birth". So I used it for my very first test char, and stuck with it eversince.

I was sat at my desk looking around the place trying to think of a name for about 10 minutes.
Eventually my head generated the word "Reven" from something or other. Then whilst glancing around I saw my little model '70 Chevelle, but not content with Chevelle, I mixed it up a bit and stuck a "Cord" in place of the "Chev".
Ta-da, Reven Cordelle.
Many people have confused it with Darth Revan, from Star Wars - Alas Star Wars has absolutely no influence on my character name.

When Han and Luke sneak on board the deathstar dressed as stormtroopers, the guy in the observation tower radios to the (now dead) stormtrooper "TK-421 why aren't you at your post?" all other variations of the name where taken already (There seem to be a lot of sci-fi geeks playing eve for some reason).

Well, I actually wanted this char to be Herbert West, becouse thats the name I use on every other internet thing where I have a name. But, I wanted this char to be a tryout one, but then found out that my attributes are not that horrible, and stuck with her.
Anyways, I wanted to name my female player char, which turned out to be Daphne, Deadly Nightshade, but that was already taken, so I punched deadly nightsahed into wiki, and a few clicks away was a plant called Daphne Mezereum. And volia.

Mine is derived from a village in Kent. The name Brenchley can be traced back to the Vikings, calling it "Braenca's Lea" (the field belonging to Braenca). So I thought that as a viking he might like to go kill, pillage and burn in space. I think the "A" is silent.

My knowledge of Old Norse is rather limited, but it think it is not silent.

I gave much thought to my name. I wanted a name to fit in but also to give the impression of a pirate/outlaw character. The name Zaran came to me from a Marvel Comic book i was reading in my youth . There was a so called "Zaran" an evil character master of martial arts and I always liked the sounding of his name. After I created the character I realised that the idea behind the Darkstar part may had come to me because at that time i was also playing Darkstar One.  |

Been living under the approach route to Twenthe AFB (Netherlands) for a good few years. 313th Squadron was stationed there, I frequently saw their F-16's fly overhead with a big tiger painted on the tails. (It's their squadron emblem). A few years after I started piddling with Falcon 4.0 and needed a callsign/nickname. After a few days of using Mongoose, which sounded funny but didn't suit me much, Tiger313 was born (how original... not! lol). Used this nickname ever since for every game I played.
