I really want to head toward a support path so my final goal is going to be a Amarr Aeon. Is this a good idea? not only as a support ship but are corporation out there going to need me on a day to day bases? Also do you think there is anything i could use the Aeon in a soloing way like hauling or fighting, or would i just be a large target? What missions could i run with Aeon?
What do you use your Aeon for...?

capitals are, with few exceptions, pvp ships. carriers and motherships provide null/low sec RR support to fleets. you DO NOT run any missions in an aeon.

I would think it obvious. Aeon is best used as a wtfsolopwn-mobile in missions. You shouldn't worry about being a target, as pirates in cruisers/battleships will be scared to attack a carrier, much less a mothership. Some people might tell you to use it for pvp or fleet support, but that's just nonsense. Just think how much ISK you can make farming missions in one. Nothing could go wrong.

lol don't train for the Aeon.
if people have to ask questions as these your not nearly ready for one.
Aeon's can't dock , Aeon's can't use jumpgates , Aeon's are a huge *kill me* sign , Aeon's are only really usefull in poswarfare .
ooh and Aeon's cost 30-40 b isk ....

lol aeon for pos warfare...
Aeon is just an oversized carrier, except you are stuck in it because you cannot dock. Don't bother, just buy 30 carriers to play with. Either way they are pvp logistics ships.

Dont run missions with a capital ship. Single Carriers/moms are nothing more than a huge "Please gank me" sign.

Indeed. For gigantic capital ships with thousands upon thousands of crew onboard they sure do die easily. ------------------- |

Edited by: Svenja Success on 15/03/2009 14:13:37 Did a bunch of Level5 Missions in Lowsec before in a Wyvern and tbh: It was quiet fun to see BS melting to 20 Fighters!

They can use Templars, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

As a carrier pilot, I would have to say this:
Don't run missions unless you have buddies willing to help you move the damn thing, and you are willing to spend a few million isk just to move it to where you can dock it. Which, yes you can. Capital Ship Maintenance Array is the ONLY thing that can hold a mom or titan. As for being used on a day to day basis. Well, you wont be as a mom pilot, or as any cap pilot, that's what your bs's and other ships are for. Moms and carriers are for null sec and low sec warfare. So you could do missions and ratting, but it's much easier and the isk/hour is better using a bs or two.
BTW the cap maint. array costs around 1-2 hundred million on top of the pos cost and everything else that you will need for said pos to pretect your 5 billion isk investment [figure around 5 billion if you mine all the minerals]

Ok so from the what i am hearing aeon would be kind of pointless if i wanted to make any money off of her. So lets say i use her only for pvp battles. What would be the best one step down for me use as a mission grinder, money making ship thats not a mining vessal. Or would the next step down still be to much of an support vessal to do things on my own?

So you use jumpgates with your aeon.
cool please tell me how, as I tought that it was impossible for capital ships to use them...
(not talking jumpbridges , jumpgates, you know the thing that connects between systems , is free to use and doesn't need sov)

Battleships are fine PvE mission grinding vessels. The Paladin is probably one of the better mission runners in game, while the Apoc and Abaddon are both decent T1 missions runners (with the Navy Apoc being a step between).

If you need to run missions to get ISK you don't belong in a mother ship.
And buying one off e-bay is a bannable offence FYI.
