Seems odd to me that they would leave that much in the hands of their allies...
The Stain-wagon took all of Esoteria from us before we moved to Delve. Our moon income at that point was down to under 150bn/month. We were unable to defend the area due to the huge amounts of pos spam they produced which would have cost dozens of billions of isk to counter. I'm sure if Ushra'Khan ever ascend to the dizzying heights of being a 0.0 spaceholding alliance they may experience the fun of being tower-spammed on multiple fronts, and the need to cede certain space to protect the rest.
Delve, Querious and Period Basis contain more r64 moons than all of those we owned in our old space, even before losing Esoteria. They form an income currently worth over 400bn a month. Many are protected by a sov4 umbrella. None of them are more than 3 jumps from empire (most are 1 or 2) and unlike Esoteria they do not require a route through an extremely hostile Catch or insanely long route via Detorid to supply.
If you can't see the value in a tightly contained, very rich space directly connected to empire over a sprawling empire with no easy logistics route then there's little I can do. You could perhps leave Ushra'Khan and join a real alliance that are capable of understanding territorial issues, perhaps someone from there can explain it to you. Until then, just consider this:
After inheriting our space, why are AAA currently bouncing between 'helping' Kenny in Querious, defending Esoteria from Minor Threat, and defending Tenerifis from our brosefs there? And more to the point, why does this now result in some hilarious defeats on all three fronts?
