A couple hours ago a quite epic shootout in 49-U ground to a halt. This is a preliminary report from the point of view of an utility pilot (logistic cruiser) n -A- fleet.
Starting from after DT Sunday, some "superfriends" POSes were exiting reinforced. System was under control and repping carriers have been able to safely complete their duties, despite some POS-4-07 gate-POS maneuvers of PL hac gang which portaled into system early.
After approximately 18-00 enemy activity picked up, cynos lit up across the map as about 8 titans bridged gangs to and fro. Just before the main battle, "superfriends" total fleet counted around 700 and "brosefs" fleet counted around 800. Somewhere around 21-00 "brosef" fleet started entering the system. We estimate that during this time around 700 active pilots entered, including a couple dozen carriers and dreadnoughts, and two titans. A bit later 3 more titans have been reported entering the system.
Initial battles were plagued by very heavy lag, as local spiked to a record 1450 (ppossibly a new record for a nullsec engagement). Module lag reached minutes, and stuff haven't been deactivating even with autorepeat off. Various engagements concentrated at hostile POSes, at which parts of "brosef" fleets were arriving. -A- fleet was delayed at the very first POS by lag and enemy tackling efforts, while GBC subfleet was able to relocate to 2nd POS where enemy caps have been inbound. TCF fleet moved to help capitals, and after a lot of shooting and rewarping -A- fleet joined the fray. RAZOR has successfully used carriers as heavy tacklers, trapping and destroying some unlucky battleships who went too close. However, this was countered by our side warping onto bumped/stray dreads and destroying them. Eventually, most of the active northern fleet was dispersed or forced under the shields.
At the same time hostile titans were staying at yet another POS, two hugging the tower and another two performing suspicious maneuvers outside shield. It was deemed to be a possible trap, and so the effort continued on killing battleships and stray capitals at hand. After some time, capitals started to jump out, battleships started to log, and titans remained at POSes without launching a single doomsday.
An initial estimate of kills says we killed around a hundred battleships and about ten assorted capitals, however killboards are still syncing so it is perhaps too early to say. Same estimate of losses as of now (by -A- killboard, so this doesn't take into account other allied losses, which I am sure will get pointed out by the morning) lists 20 battleship lost, plus about the same amount of varied support ships.
Mad props to everyone for bringing it, the total active battle counts just under 7 hours for me. |

-A- bringing the fight. (Kenny also participated)
Without a doubt it was a victory for the Red army. Lag effects both sides, so don't want to use that as an excuse, although we should have killed a few more of you, but I don't think the outcome would have been any different, even in CCP nirvana world with perfect servers.
You guys got a lot of ships, we're going to have to stop sucking and get out of the wormholes.

Good fight guys. I put my view on the usual place, and I think you were very generous in your estimates :).
We took a good ramming in the beehind :D, but fight was excellent and good test of current patch lag mechanics.
Nothing better than a fight over sake of having a fight!

Goons brought every ally they got, even Sons of Tangra (lol) were there, yet they still got curb stomped. Pathetic performance... now create 20 threads and emorage about it.
Good job NC on losing caps for a failed cause of a pathetic alliance.

Considering the opposition was comprised of 20 odd alliances, some of whom live 60 jumps away, I think its fairly obvious who begged everyone they could get to come to this battle. But hey your main knows that which is why your hiding behind a mask, dearheart.
Ahh well towers saved and all that.

The most I have ever seen is 1100 and then the node was buckling so heavily that there was 20 minutes lag. That was years ago, which makes me wonder whether the server is getting worse. Farjung is my God

Edited by: Malaphar on 16/03/2009 07:50:27 Good fight indeed...and lots of fun too!
Congrats to CCP for this remarkable performance : biggest fleet battle in known nullsec warfare (number-wise) and the node held steady! Module lag was to be expected though, but not that annoying like in J-L and warpins-warpouts worked ok aswell!Grid loaded fast enough considering the numbers on the battlefield, so I would say an 8/10 for CCP...keep up the good work guys..:)
Lag started to diminish to the end of the battle when "brosefs" BS and support fleet was already dead or logged , so we could actually hunt down their capitals (12 kills counted so far but the numbers are still updating).
No matter how anyone would like to present it , "brosefs" tried to bully us by bringing lots of gear of all sorts upon us but they got spanked pretty hard instead!
And this is only the beginning of the REAL Delve War II (I hope treachery and POS spamming contest that we saw so far is not considered by any of you , fine gentlemen / ladies an actual WAR... :D )
PS : names copyright belong to Therem Harth , as regarding "superfriends" and "brosefs", to define the 30ish Alliances involved in this
Yours truly,

What I like most about all this is while the 49- battle continues, Delve is under Goon Control. I guess 49- will be -A- and other ways of saying to Kenny, "see man we fought for you guys and we really fought hard", and Kenny fades into history. See the real battle happen weeks ago, think about.....

Anyone else find it funny that -A- waited until Kenny was on it's knees having lost all its space before it came and helped it .. Anyone would think that was a clever tactical move .. Surely not ..
Lets face it, now -A- has a nice pet alliance staging for them .. Oh how the wheel turns ..
