Ganking hi-sec players (miners, mission runners, etc) has become a sport, complete with prizes and private, alliance sponsored insurance payouts for ships lost in the process. The fact is if you're in a Hulk or any type of hauler, you are automatically a target and you have almost no way to defend yourself. There are more ships destroyed in hi-sec on any given day than null-sec and low-sec combined.
For this reason, I am moving to rename "carebears" to "hardbears" and renaming "nullbears" to "carebears". |

Ways to defend yourself 101
Don't haul or fly what you can't afford to lose, getting ganked is a risk you accept when you hit undock, carebear or not.
If you can't afford to lose it, freight it with someone like redfrog or pushx, it gets ganked you keep the collateral
Insure your mission ships and haulers, any financial payback reduces the hit on your wallet.
Pimp fits are the equivalent to painting a target on your back, the man in his Artybaddon or Tornado loves your pimp fit tengus, they go squish and drop good loot.
If war decced, don't carry on as normal, you'll probably have 3 choices if crimewatch gets updated, hire mercs, fight them yourself with some allies, blueball the aggressor by playing on an out of corp alt until he gets bored.
I'm a hisec trader/missioner I follow the above and have rarely been popped unless I've done something daft. like accidentally APing into losec, never used the damn thing since.
If you're a miner, fly a retriever for the next month, they're cheaper than hulks, mine in a battleship whatever, just don't mine in an untanked max yield hulk, it's going to die. War hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, High Chief of all the Vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside. |

Fredfredbug4 wrote:That term won't be appropriate until carebears not only stop whining, but actually try to get suicide ganking buffed. Screw suicide ganking, it's a lost cause and only useful for the odd indie/hulk kill. Killing anything decent with suicide ganking is both boring and, usually, unprofitable. Its a stupid mechanic that has only become such a big "issue" because high sec care bears have been successful in eliminating virtually every other form of non-consensual PvP.
I say nerf their ability to avoid war decs, then nerf high sec into the ground. In every other game guards exist only to protect newbie areas and trade hubs, if high sec care bears want to live in a police-enforced newbie area they should be willing to accept that that involves making **** all ISK.
Oh, and when we're done with that we should nerf local, replace it with an Intel tool, and then start destroying logistics chains. Starting with a very serious look at jump freighters, the use of carriers as a personal logistics asset and nullified t3s.
If we can get all that crap addressed, and suppress the screams of these "hard core" idiots then maybe making ISK in this game would become fun again. Because at the moment its a mindless grind, and even in null sec there is so little danger its laughable.

What Lexmana says TBH..
You know you carebears could fight back right? I don't want to hear that you have no PVP experience or no skills as a excuse because as a corp we had our guys train noob alts that was like a 7 day training plan for Catalysts on their open spare slots to gank stuff in high sec.
We came into a situation where our war targets were hiding their booster alts in NPC corps where supposedly we couldn't touch them.. Wrong..
http://www.squidswarm.com/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=228
That's 1 Legion alt booster & his 500 mil ISK pod dead to a handful of T1 fit destroyers. You carebears whining about just getting your haulers killed by guys in gank ships can do the very same thing. You can train alts for less than 7 days and go gank the hell out of those dirty evil griefers you whine so much about.
It's not like Hulks, Haulers & Tengus are the only viable targets. With enough T1 fit el cheepo destroyers you can pretty much gank just about any ship you want in high sec.
You carebears need to quit whines, grow a pair & and fight back.. |

You are not hard core, because you hide in high sec and pretend it's CCP's fault because low sec is an impenetrable wall of death and they haven't done enough to nerf PvP so you can get through.

1) Blob warfare does not make you "hardcore", especially when your ships are free.
2) Suicide ganking makes you a pansy because your target cannot pre-emptively strike you sans a billion ISK wardec.
3) Tanking a Hulk just means you lose that much more ISK when you get ganked. I know this, because Goonswarm, in an effort to enhance epeen and be "contrary on the forums", likes to post killmails featuring tanked Hulks every time some miner says "my tank is ungankable".
So again: Hardbears have no way to defend themselves, but they go out everyday and run their missions and mine in their Hulks. And no one is paying for their ships except themselves. That's hard. Hence, hardbears.

10mins later

You are bad and should feel bad. There are many, many MANY more players in hisec than elsewhere. Of course there are more kills. Come back with some per-capita numbers supporting your claim and I might listen to you. Also, this is a stupid thread. |

Simi Kusoni Is an idiot. Concord was once tankable, response times have been buffed to hell (multiple times), insurance payouts removed for ships with GCC, ships have been introduced designed specifically to avoid combat (t2 transports, jump freighters, t3 cruisers), ships with gcc can no longer boomerang, swapping out ships in an orca was nerfed, sec status loss has been increased, the number of concurrent war decs was limited to three and cost designed to scale to ridiculous amounts and the decision declaring dec shields/dissolving and reforming corps etc. an exploit were reversed.
There are probably more examples, but you get the point. Not to mention the natural proliferation of JFs and the like resulting in the modern day invincible logistics chains, that is going to have to be dealt with at some point.

All these examples revolve around the current methods of non-consensual PvP. CCP has altered the workings of these after players found ways to obtaine results which CCP had not intended. The fact that 'carbears' as you like to label them brought these 'bugs' to CCP's attention does not mean CCP is trying to wrap them in cotton wool and make Hi-sec a safe and fun place to be, only to bring it into line with what thier (CCP) vision of what hi-sec should be.
As for responce times, insurance payouts ect these have been added/buffed becasue you proved to CCP that thier consequences were not adequate enough.
swapping out ships from an Orca effects the miners as much as it effects the PvP'ers. Now I can't store my Hulk in my Orca if I've been attacked by rats/players.
Ships have been introduced to make travel in low sec and 0.0 a little safer. unfortunately (for you) these ships can opperate in Hi-sec as well.

I take it the boomerang exploit is what youre talking about? Funny thing that... they ignored the miners for years UNTIL
A.) a dumbass got on eve-o general, explained in detail HOW to do it and gave all the details for it (he wasnt banned) B.) Goons started planning the Burn Jita idea withe CCP and CCP realized this may keep them from getting killed by CONCORD

Lol, rather amusing quote from CCP in that article:
Quote:"There's not a lot of turnaround on ships and goods in Empire. I think it might be healthy if we lose a lot of this industrial power, if they have to go back and save up for their ships again and be a part of the cycle of life everyone else is a part of.
"I don't like complete security, and I do like when a large group of players who live in complete security have that pulled away temporarily. It's going to be healthy." As for the "bookmark escaping agro bug", that doesn't sound like the boomerang CCP, and players, have always referred to the boomerang as... well... the boomerang. Which doesn't involve bookmarks, or evade the consequences, this sounds like something else?

the boomerang wasnt the one that let you kill multiple ships at a time thereby "evading" CONCORD until they caught up to you? Technically as I understand the reason it WAS called a exploit in the first place was cause you evade getting killed the first time. REGARDLESS of if you eventually get killed you were supposed to be killed the first time, not kill, warp, kill, warp, kill warp, kill then get killed by CONCORD. As far as CCP is concerned if you kill 4 ppl you should be getting killed 4 times so by their logic youre "evading" e punishments with the boomerang thing. What OTHER exploit was fixed about 3 weeks ago? I dont remember hearing about one that involved bookmarks do you? Im thinking the guy doing the article was either wrong or the CCP got confused (that are supposedly human and all).

please find me the insurance policy that pays out when the insured commits suicide. That was kinda the reason it got removed btw, now cause miners QQed, because it was stupid. IMO they should remove insurance entirely cause I cant believe a insurance company wold back up a policy on a vehicle driven into a war zone. (yes asteroid belts are war zones too, even in high sec). Hmm, well the thing is that the boomerang exploit didn't so much evade consequences, which has always been an exploit, as it did delay them.
And what intrigues me is just the specific mention of bookmarks and aggression? Could just be that he messed up on the wording, but it did remind me of this, which was also in the patch three weeks ago:
"New Eden has become a better place by fixing an exploit."
From the patch notes, this was rather cryptically posted along side the boomerang and the pax amarria fixes. I know we're not supposed to discuss exploits unless they're commonly known, and CCP never releases details, but hey, I like knowing how stuff works. And I'm a sucker for curiosity :D

I would agree to insurance payout on more expensive T1 ships receiving a bit of a nerf, but to be honest on the smaller ships it needs to be there to give the newbies a security blanket. While we can afford to lose hundreds of battle cruisers a month if necessary, new players can't replace their ships so easily.
And whilst I am aware that it is called "suicide ganking" there was a time, not long ago, when suicide ganking the majority of ships was (almost) profitable. This is no longer so. Until they fix war dec mechanics that has pretty effectively killed off meaningful high sec PvP.
(Not that suicide ganking is particularly satisfying or "meaningful" PvP anyway.)

Mining is not an un-profitable enterprise when done correctly. Infact I know quite a few players who's main ISK source is mining and they make alot of ISK (alot by my standards is in the billions)
Simi Kusoni I'll make this as easy as possible for you. Their are four methods of non-consensual combat in hi-sec.
1) War decs 2) Suicide attacks 3) trickery ( making the other peson unwittingly aggress you so you can retaliate) 4) Join thier corp (attacking corp mates does not flag you)
All four of these methods are governed by mechanics set by CCP. It is these mechanics that CCP alters to make things harder/easier more profitbale/less profitable. By changing the mechanics CCP are not reducing the number of methods of non-consensual combat in hi-sec. The Boomerang exploit was closed but suicide attacks can still occure.
If I've missed some please enlighten me. |

as CCP has since put it, that delay WAS evading. As I said, if you gank someone and then boomerang to three more ganks then get CONCORDED, apparently CCP feels you should have been CONCORDED four times not once.

Funny I tend to feel the same way about nonsensical things in games Noob and lower ships I dont see a problem with having insurance but cap ships? BSes? BCs? Destroyers? ACTUAL WAR ships? Shouldnt
Quote: I would agree to insurance payout on more expensive T1 ships receiving a bit of a nerf, but to be honest on the smaller ships it needs to be there to give the newbies a security blanket. While we can afford to lose hundreds of battle cruisers a month if necessary, new players can't replace their ships so easily.
And whilst I am aware that it is called "suicide ganking" there was a time, not long ago, when suicide ganking the majority of ships was (almost) profitable.
Yes, they fixed that issue, which is why you dont get money

Mining is not an un-profitable enterprise when done correctly. Infact I know quite a few players who's main ISK source is mining and they make alot of ISK (alot by my standards is in the billions) Simi Kusoni I'll make this as easy as possible for you. Their are four methods of non-consensual combat in hi-sec. 1) War decs 2) Suicide attacks 3) trickery ( making the other peson unwittingly aggress you so you can retaliate) 4) Join thier corp (attacking corp mates does not flag you) All four of these methods are governed by mechanics set by CCP. It is these mechanics that CCP alters to make things harder/easier more profitbale/less profitable. By changing the mechanics CCP are not reducing the number of methods of non-consensual combat in hi-sec. The Boomerang exploit was closed but suicide attacks can still occure. I don't think you understand what is meant by forms of PvP, my earlier comment was also not limited to high sec. Hence the nullified t3s and JFs comments.
Some of the common forms of PvP:
Gate camping. Jump Bridge camping. Complex camping. Hunting mission runners, either via war decs or ninja looting/baiting. Suicide ganking miners. Awoxing, and specifically setting up bait corps to kill new recruits. War decs on null sec power blocks. War dec griefing small indie/miner corps. Etc.
There are more, but you get the point. All of these forms of PvP are governed and effected by different mechanics changes, some changes will effect one whilst not effecting others and some changes negatively effect them all.
To be honest, I am guessing from your combat record that you have never really engaged in much PvP, which is fair enough. I don't really kill much myself nowadays either, but please don't be so short sighted as to believe the only styles of PvP are war decs, awoxing and suicide ganking.

Relisting Market manipulation Ninja mining Flame wars(forum pvp ftw) Taking up all the industry slow you can simply to prevent others from being able to effective do manufacturing/research Stealing people mission loot Stealing peoples drop in deadspace complexes

There is no insurance for ganking, but luckily we get 120mil reimbursement per lost tornado from alliance. But don't worry about state of goon finances, after all, all of you sponsored this event by buying T2 ships built with our technetium

You completely miss the point. Perhaps more appropriate would be changing the name "carebear" to "target".
Only a few nullsec players however deserve the title "nullbear" or "carebear". The rest of us have lost so many clones and implants that we simply stop using fancy stuff anymore and frankly couldn't give a damn if we get killed or not, which is what "carebear" is actually supposed to mean.
Here is a short video that will illustrate why there are many names that can be used to describe nullsec dwellers, but "carebear" ain't one of them. |

But - but but that means actual work! Carebears will not assist in the conquering sov part, they will only show up in droves when dead end system and refinery stations are linked with jump bridges. Whatdoyoumean 600M a month sov bill per bridge? Carebears will also happily continue mining when the rest of your alliance is fighting and losing a 10 v 15 ship battle in the next system. Carebears never show up to CTA's either, and if there is a question about "home defence" (ie there are too many reds in the system for them to mine comfortably) they will simply log off, instead of actually helping.
When confronted with this and basically told "help out or else", they will quote the fact that they are industrial toons with no skills. When told that fast tackle is always necessary and it only takes a few hours training to fly a frigate with a warp disruptor and sensor booster, they will go quiet and probably make plans to quit the alliance.
Care-bears are the scourge of EVE. PLEASE do not send them to nullsec, it's hard enough to weed them out here. Let the jihad continue until they realize they have to actually fight for the right to live like everyone else. |

That is actually a decent point...where does the station,POS,Jump bridge, ammo, modules that we all use come from?
In your example, if the industrialists came to CTA's would you reciprocate by hauling their ore back and forth for them?
Would you train mining leadership skills so you could boost them from time to time?

Indeed it does. I had NO idea till my first Mass Test on Sisi.
We were finally about to jump through the first gate (all 300 ships in a close bunch) and this BattleRorq warps in to a stop right in the middle, SCATTERING to the winds my CNR, another 10 BS's at least, and around 20 carriers and 3 Titans.

I'm not entirely sure where you're going with that? Those aren't suggestions to make Hi-sec more like Lo-sec, they're more common sense than anything, the first one is the most bandied about phrase in Eve, after HTFU obviously.
They're more of a call to keep Hi-sec as it is, the system works you just have to be aware of what's going on & where it's happening. After that it's just a matter of temporarily adapting to what others are doing. If someone's put all their eggs in one basket or can't/won't adapt then sorry can't help, should have diversified into other related activities.
Q, if ducks had forums, would they post threads like these when hunting season opens? War hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, High Chief of all the Vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside. |

I don't recall mentioning "income". I don't see what that has to do with my post.
My post dealt with the issue of demonizing and harassing a portion of the player base until they either do it your way or quit. We did that to our detriment in low-sec. It is now a desert.
Hi-sec has a higher population so it will take longer to stamp them out but I have faith in the mindset represented by players in this thread.
We should be thankful that most players DON'T read the forums. If 65% of the player-base really knew what was said of them...
To answer your post directly: Yes, null-sec is safer than hi-sec, both of us know it. That said, I don't really see an injustice there. Your alliance keeps you safe. Good on them. |

The suggestions provided work well for a Vet who has lots of time and back up assets. They work when you have been playing EVE for 5 years and simply put, lack enthusiasm. They work in null sec, a place you have gone to, not started in.
They are also risk averse options and that as the GD forums have said time and time again, goes against all things EVE. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg-_HeVNYOk

For this reason, I am moving to rename "carebears" to "hardbears" and renaming "nullbears" to "carebears".
So being unprepared to defend yourself, being so disorganised you cant guard or protect a mining fleet, being so apathetic you wont retaliate at the time and being so afraid you wont take the offensive, formup and counterattack makes you hard?

Denying people kills is still PVP, so is flying a retriever rather than a hulk during hulkageddon.
Hulkageddon pilots want nice fat expensive hulk kills for the prizes, miners want to mine, so while hulks are dying all around, the "risk adverse" carebear miner in his retriever may still be mining ore, while the hulk pilots are scrabbling to replace the hulk, and not mining.

Let me help you.
Nail polish is a frilly little luxury that women (and apparently you as you recline in mom's lingerie ) take very seriously. Slap fights have indeed been started over which color or style is best. At the end of the day nail polish is silly.
The Eve girls with the big nails (the ones who can't type without using a pencil eraser to press the keys) are currently slapping the teens who just got their first coat. Everyone is calling everyone names. It's all very serious and I am sure all sides think they are hard core.
At the end of the day..Null-sec.low-sec,hi-sec are just different shades of the same thing. Eve=nail polish

Uhhh...nooo!
My reference to the famine in Ethiopia was to agree with previous post. Ethiopia was deforested, over grazed and ultimately sent into a famine through the ignorance of its people. It was self-inflicted.
Same thing will happen to the game if we keep making hi-seccers the "catch of the day". Judicious poaching maybe but not a pogrom.
By the way, I am the alt of a bitter-vet null-sec account that is advocating against making hi-sec players feel like second class citizens. They are what keeps the lights on over in Iceland and let us keep up our petty political squabbles going in null-sec.
My corp simply has a non-posting policy.

Simi, I think based on this post, the post where you claim to be a nullbear, and your following arguments, that I love you. What I am saying is that you are too weak and pathetic to even try. Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing. |

This thread pleases me greatly.
We have learned that all the "hardcore" players who live in lo-sec and null-sec are nothing of the sort; instead, they are just whiny crybabies who take this game way too seriously and are too concerned with other people's business.
The name is now changed to "hardbears". I will be spreading the news. |

I'm fairly certain that HS miners, you know, the people being ganked into submission, ARE THE ONES MAKING **** ALL ISK. When it comes down to it, the only difference between most of you and mission runners is you're in it to gain enjoyment from other people's misery. You're not even in it for the good fight. Pathetic!
Man, I don't even live in k-space and what I'm seeing now, the extent that CCP allows this, pfft, it's really really sad. We want breast augmentations and sluttier clothing in the NeX! |

I don't do any of that. If I need to mine, I fleet up with friends and head to low sec.
I tried going back to 0.0 and, well, let's say we had a difference of opinion. That B.S. lasted two weeks. I'm much happier in low as it works exactly like 0.0 just without the gate camps, command asking for impossible things, and people having a fit because you want to do your own thing. |

This was the safest one I found. The rest, well... WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place... |
