I said it once, so I'll say it again. why only have 42,000 players online at once when you can have 80,000 with one simple change to the game. Make PVP an option! then everyone gets to explore all of EVE. and using the wormholes at their own risk due to extreme dangers in space, including running out of ammunition before finding your way back. everyone has fun, not just the predators in the game. Once a path of PVP or NO PVP is chosen it is permanent for that character. so even the PVP loveing players can play a peaceful game with at least one character if they choose to and peace loving players can create a PVP character for those days they want to pretend its their boss in that other ship. Make PVP a players choice.

Except 25 thousand players would immediately quit for such an idiotic change the game mechanics. The remaining 17k carebears would play for about a month before realizing that an economy without pvp is a ridiculously boring one, and then they would quit too.

sorry but i've got to disagree. I generally stick to Empire space and go about my missions free from PVP.
BUT - i also enjoy the risk of 0.0 - i like knowing that its lawless out there and its a thrill taking a trip in there. i got dumped in the depths of 0.0 after jumping through a wormhole last week. I was 28 jumps from 0.4 space and i really enjoyed knowing that if i made it home then it was a real achievement.
the 0.0 space is lawless and it should remain so. if PVP became an option there would be no risk, no sense of adventure in going to 0.0. it would become alot of reward for zero risk. ____________________________________ Interstellar Federal Forces |

I'll say it for the last time: EVE is a PVP game.
If you don't like it, can I have your stuff?

You choose to subscribe to this game thus you choose PVP. If you don't like it there are more than enough games out there that are stupid friendly.

Make PvP an option, suddenly most of the existing userbase quits.
Will non-PvP players be allowed to fly jump-capable ships such as jump freighters? Will non-PvP players be allowed to fly haulers? Will non-PvP players be allowed to fly carriers? Will non-PvP players be allowed to fit a cyno to their ship? Will non-PvP players be allowed to light a cyno for a PvP player?
Half the purpose of gatecamps is to prevent flow of materials in and out of an enemy's territory. Allowing non-PvP players to fly ships cargoholds would defeat the purpose of most nullsec PvP.
So before you say it again, please think about it, as you obviously failed to think about it the first time you vomited this nonsense onto the forums.

I really hat to say it because I hat being podkilled but it is the best thing Eve has going for it. It's real, maybe more like living in the Sudan than the US but it's still not sugar coated like most games.

No
EVE is a sandbox. Today I care bear and if tomorrow I decided to go to 0.0 and PvP I can.
Choices, and EVE is all about providing more choices not removing them. Your idea to be honest is a game breaker.

Ship-to-ship PVP is already an option. You can choose to never leave the station. Some people actually do that.

Very poorly done. Shameful, actually. You went overboard with the 'choose pvp at character creation' part, I think.

Meh, it got these responses. Two points, but it's definitely a handicap.

I even enjoy the risk of 1.0 space. I was in Safizon and a pirate flipped my can. It ended up we fought, i kept tearing apart his frigate but he would warp out with almost no health left. So, he brings in a Drake. I was like oh F**k. He warps scrambles and disrupts me, and hits me for half shield..then, all of a suden...he's dead. I think he accidentally targeted a corp mate who had aggressed him previously by fipping the pirate's new can, but his timer was up. He attacked my friend and CONCORD blew him up. We got extremely lucky, all we had were two Arbi's. Dunno if we could have taken him, but I'm thinkin prolly not. In the end, I got my stuff back. :D
After about 10 months of actual playtime (off and on over a two year period (having not played for the last year up until last week), that was my first PvP encounter, and it was awesome. Me and the pirate stared at each other for 20 minutes before anything even started to happen. He kept warping back and forth from station to Asteroid Belt trying to bait me. It was fun. Scary that I almost lost my cruiser, but fun.

lol yeh give non pvp option, for those who select this option the little yellow arrows will be removed from the bottom left of the station screan and the market and contract systems will be blocked.
Now you can sit and spin your ship all day with no risk of anything happening......
