[ 2008.08.18 16:01:58 ] (combat) <color=0xffbb6600>Kruul's Pleasure Gardens hits you, doing 776.2 damage.
Only one i can find. That's in a Nightmare w/ 2 x dread invul and a photon - around 75% resists, so raw dmg would have been around 3k - not enough to get even through a Nighthawk's hull.
Maybe they upped the damage this patch. --

When the Pleasure Garden blows it does 3000 damage if you are within 30Km. I think it is EM damage and the 3000 is if you have no EM resists. You must have been into structure by the time the thing blew up on you.

no.. it did damage pre apocrypha.
I know because my abaddon miles away blew up the building and the resulting blast killed my catalyst salvager on my second account.
I cried. And cut myself. But didn't emoragequit.

I'm with Rudename Regus on this one. I never noticed the Pleasure Gardens doing any damage pre-Apocrypha, even though I always got the message about the explosion.
I'm not saying that you're wrong, I'm just saying I've only noticed the explosion doing damage after Apocrypha. |

Same for me. I've seen the notification and read the mission guide warning, but never actually noticed any damage coming off of that structure (and I'm generally sitting at the warp-in point at, what? 15–20km from it, and using drones to pop the thing).
I should have lost tons of drones from it by now, and have noticed an extra spike in damage even though there are no ships around. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

This actually happened to my corp mate and I haven't had a chance to get the full details from him yet. He just Eve mailed me the details of it...
I didn't thin explosions from structures did any damage at all, although I had sometimes pondered why they didn't. It makes sense that they would but damn... enough damage to destroy a Nighthawk?? lol.
Well, there's a prarllel in the "Cash for Capsuleers" newbie quest chain, Military version.
In the mission, you're supposed to approach a "hotel" inside of a cloud, to pick up some diplomats. When you get close enough, the "hotel" explodes and will rip the shields right off your frigate. Immediately afterward four other frigates will warp in on top of you...basically, you just have to GTFO after the "hotel" explodes (which completes the mission).
So, it's not unheard-of.

Edited by: Maria Kalista on 23/03/2009 15:57:26 Level 4 'Damsel in distress' has been doing damage way before Apochribba. Lost some drones to it the first time. Since then, hammerheads 2 are somewhat expensive, I snipe from 100 KM away. Have the drones pick off anything that gets too close and/ or the 2 spiderdrones.
Vote for more surprises like this. :P
Edit: with 'damage' I mean the 'pleasure gardens'...

Either this is a bug, or maybe you just had T2 ammo loaded.

These have always done damage, they used to hit drones but they changed it. Now it only does damage in a small AOE radius to ships, so if you're not right next to it you won't notice any damage at all.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

This was quite surprising to me when my corpy told me about it.
I figured I'd at least post this as a warning to other pilots.
Some mission structures have always done damage. This is nothing new.

A pretty silly statement as you know nothing of what amount of shields he was at the time of the explosion.
35000 in one blow (essentially alpha) even minus resistances is quite a lot.
How many lvl 4 missions have a 35000 alpha in them ? and to have his shields that low at that point reinforces my statement.
Well, I don't do missions myself so wtf do I know about if there IS a mission that does 35 000 alpha. If there is, and he was at say 10% shields due to whatever (eg. failing at PvE like me) then I suppose that's a reason for his demise.
But it seems it does 3000 alpha, which is lol.

Second, if you are concerned, check game logs, and if something seems out of the ordinary, petition the loss to CCP.
NOW, I am not saying that the Pleasure Gardens do not do a lot of alpha, I lost a Cormorant to it in an L4 while salvaging as my corpsmates completed the encounter. It made for some good laughs.
BUT, I also recently fitted a Jaguar for tooling around in L1s/L2s for fun on a night when I was extra bored, and I ran into a weird fluke. I would if this is related: Strange Damage Taken Issue
We have a corpmate who claims hes been "instaploding" while running scout in an inty. Not sure if this is a killmail bug or infact a ship bug... But I wonder if these 2 are connected?

Wrong... It was always like that (Pre-Apocrypha). Only one of them does that massive damage. You might have killed the wrong ones to not notice it or you were too far away to get any damage (+35km)...
I wish there were more missions like these, great to quickly gank a ninja salvager

I would assume that he was doing this mission. However, the explosion is supposed to do 3,000 damage, not 35,000. Maybe they changed it? ___________________________________ Always enjoy your virtual synthetic psychotropics in moderation. |

Ah, but you're forgetting that people like to boost their own egos by telling other people that their skills are crap.
Someone less concerned with their own feelings of self-worth would have asked a different question, perhaps along the lines of 'why was his ship destroyed with that amount of damage'.

It's a particularly self-pwning attempt at ego-boosting considering the fact that even 35k HP is far more than you'll ever need in an L4. Overtanking is bad for you. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Edited by: Durzel on 24/03/2009 11:33:10 It's been said already but the received damage on the killmail is the total damage he took between the encounter beginning, and ending - including damage taken from the various ships, etc. I suspect that's not the full KM output.
To take 35k damage from just the Catalysm Cruise Missile (which I believe only Zor fires) implies the guy was sat around for quite some time taking out the ships. Maybe he fell asleep at the keyboard?
The structure that does AoE damage comes up on the killmail comes up on the killmail as itself, as has been pasted by others above.

More likely the cruise missile was simply the last DD source the game found in the log while generating the killmail. I doubt environmental damage makes it into the log.

Had this happen to a corpmate too. He was in a destroyer salvaging while I ran the mission. I accidently finished the building and he went pop. It's, as far as I know, the only mission that has these kinda AoE explosions.
And as someone said, his shields were probably not on top and the explosion was enough to take him out. ----- Why doesn't anyone ever read the forums before posting? EVE is a game of adaptation and planning. Adapt or die. |
