When I started this character through a trial account last year I initially started off with around 800,000 skill points. Last night I started up a new trial for an alt that I want to use, but was met with a new character creation process which did not include any specialisation choices etc, and only 50,000 skill points. Is it intended that the free trial accounts start with so little skill points now, and do you have to buy the new boxed game to get the previous skill point value at character creation as well as the choice of specialisations etc?

Everyone starts with around 50k sp now, however you get a 100% training speed bonus for the first 1.6m sp

Read dev blogs and patchnotes.
All new players start with 50k SP, they learn twice as fast up to a certain point (1.8 mil I think) and you get skill books from tutorial missions. It's supposed to even out to how it was, but you only end up with skills you choose to train instead of a bunch of skills newbies may not want or understand.

I like the new system, but I've never felt that any of the skillz that my original character was born with were useless.
