It could be sonic vibrations emanating from the roof of your house, which is being hit by the radiation from solar-flairs! ... Simply saying it doesn't really mean anything unless you can at least logically explain it.
Like I explained before, most actual client problems would have a global effect. Actual hardware defects are rare (relatively) and usually have less than subtle side-affects. (Boot-failures and such) Driver problems are very common and can be very elusive.
The simplest explanation is usually the right one.
the huge list of python25.dll errors in my event viewer is the simplest explanation i need.
Well if you found the error the whole debugging process if over. No guesswork required.
By the way, what do the errors say, exactly?

Ok. To be honest, that sounds like a file-system error to me... a corrupt DLL. I would try re-installing EVE. See if that helps.
Or even re-install it into a second, temporary, location and copy the "python25.dll" from the new one to the old one. ---- "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein

I've had two crashes within the last hour or so, too much to put up with I'll start some investigating.
Both times were shortly after being docked and opening the fitting screen. Don't know if it's related.

Hmmm... Do you have Python installed separately? Could it be interfering somehow? There are to many possible reasons why this may be affecting yo so much, really.
I would probably re-format my HDD and go from there. But that's just me Windows can get really buggy, really fast. I prefer not to use the same installation for more than a couple of months if I can help it.
Come to think of it... EVE has crashed on me a couple of times since Apocrypha. Maybe it's time to wipe it clean

If I open fitting screen while docked and then try to pan view by holding down the right mouse button, eve crashes almost instantly, strange.
Logserver showed nothing as far as I could see too.

count yourself lucky ..........since the apoc patch ive suffered a multitude of system failures....... 1. overheating gpus (new fans repaired this problem despite never having a single gpu over heat playing any other game) 2. corrupt chipset driver (resolved by a reinstall).........3. mft corruption and then failure .... resulting in a forced Fdisk and complete reformat of c drive ......... eve is hard on the pc but its not helped by crap drivers from nvidia SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

I have been getting socket closed errors since Aprocrypha. Last night, after 1.0.2, I got probably three separate crashes. So seems like there is a problem. ----------------------------------------------------

Try adding eve to dep exception list for some reaason if eve trys to change something in memory windows see's it as a virus and stops it doing what its trying to do. if you still crash after that check event viewer for any python25.dll errors.

Nope, was changing ships to see if I could replicate the crash again and boom - stopped working. I added EvE to the DEP like you said and I'm running Vista 32bit with all the latest updates for the system and my drivers etc.
Like I said EvE has never crashed on me before and it's done it twice tonight now.

Did a total fresh eve client reinstall from a freshly download full installer of latest apocrypha version, can still crash Eve at will following the exact same steps.
Plus as you say it's not driver version, plus I remember it being fine before the latest patch anyway.

I myself have been getting BSODs on XP SP3, but it is entirely unrelated to EVE (I only suspect), as most of the crashes, according to minidump, is caused by avast! or ntoskrnl.exe, so neither one is actually EVE related, but it hasn't happened until I updated the EVE client to Apocrypha 1.0.

I've had a lot of these too. I turned DEP off for EVE.exe.
However game is still sluggish some but that might of been my ISP.

It is in Windows XP SP 2 and above as well as Vista.
It has helped but I'm still having problems in game (right now at work not in game :( )
