I just got Worlds Collide on Caldari space, one of my friends is trying to build influence in Caldari space and we got this other friend to start playing EvE and I told him to pop on over and see this mission.
It was my mission and the others were a few jumps away and I pop and clear one side before my friends warp in. We start attacking the Serpentis side. I was a bit furter out than they were and they started to engage the targets. I finally get in range and I notice... hey no turret sounds. My experienced friend got the aggro from the serpentis side. As I was playing with my sound options I notice I was taking shields hit. Somehow the serpentis BS which were attacking my friend switched to me. Since I was standing still with no mods on (I had experimented and turned off everything to see if I can get my turrets to make a noise) I was taking some hits. My friend was in a Claymore and deployed some shield repair drones.
After a few moments, the serpentis ships switched to the shield repair drones. We withdrew the drones and i was able to stablize when I realized no BS were attacking me - but they were attacking my newbie friend who just entered long range on his ship. Luckily, he took minimal damage. We were down to the last BS and it was running away from us - trying ot stay at long range. I closed to drone range and launched drones. We got the BS to 50% armor when all of a sudden it stopped and started to move in weird circles. I zoomed in and noticed it was no longer firing on me - but on the new recently deployed drones. In fact, it was trying to kite the drones - however, the drones were orbiting the BS so fast that it got confused and was trying to turn away from the drone constantly.
Essentially, the ships started to act like the sleepers in Wormholes. Anyone else notice this? I thought CCP was not going to upgrade normal NPC AIs for a bit?

a few of my corp mates and i just noticed this as well. first warping in, the BS's seemed to draw us too them. there tactics seemed to be go out a way then pull back. along with this, we noticed a cruiser sensor damp a CS we had while attacking one of our vexors. then once a dps abby came in range and started the pew pew, the BS's switched to them while the cruiser provided damping again. once we got into the first room, we didnt seem to notice anything out of the ordinary.

Worlds Collides had always some strange AI behavior. The NPC ships start to approach you, when you fire them, but they turn arround after a while. I suppose it's determined by their distance from their initial spawn position. If they (or allied ships) are still under fire, they turn around and attack again. And again and again and again. If you are there with several ships, it results in erratic aggro, which you might mistake for Sleeper AI.
Or it is Sleeper AI despite contrary patch news.

No Sleeper AI, the mission rats are still as daft as always
CCP has redesigned some missions though, ran the Enemies Abound 1/5 (against Gallente) and almost lost my lovely Paladin due to layout and spawn changes.
All missions will eventually be tweaked to comply with the "Need for Speed" thing they have going, sounds like you got a taste of it.

If you're talking about the initial warp-in rats, then the Serpentis will only travel so far from the smuggler gate before deaggressing and returning. When this happens they will invariably re-target something else.
Not Sleeper AI I'm afraid, just a peculiar mission where rats can deaggress if they travel too far from their spawn point.

Rats in the first room in Worlds Collide also like to murder your drones. At least in that regard they behave like Sleepers. |

Rats can still switch targets if you're not in range yet.

I've had WC three or four times since Apoc, once (maybe twice?) since the last patch, and haven't noticed anything different with it, except for one case where I had destroyed all but one of the ships in a group before it targeted me, I didn't have drones out and had already passed by the group on the way to the gate.
I have had some issues with being de-aggressed by a ship or two in other missions, and with drones doing really stupid things like getting stuck, but nothing like what you are describing. Although if memory serves, it was mentioned that the first rats to get the new AI system would be Officer/faction rats, so the if the BS was the overseer that might be it.
