I had enough of this. As soon as the servers are up does the race begin. It is Hulks versus small miner. I park in front of an asteroid, in high-sec 0.9-1.0 and where it is safe for me, and then the first Hulk shows up and starts the race.
There are nice Hulk pilots out there, who leave a few asteroids standing, but still, the Hulks should not start on the very first belt of a system and just work through belt after belt leaving nothing behind after only 6-8 hours. All one can do is jump to the next belt, ... and the next, ... and the next, until one sees the Hulks disappear into the more dangerous sectors.
Please, CCP, make the 0.5-0.6 systems more attractive to lazy Hulk pilots. Make the belts of these system 2-3 times larger and reduce the size of asteroids in the belts of 0.9-1.0 systems. In addition, make the first belt within a system the smallest and the last belt the largest. Make the sizes match real orbit perimeters! And cripple the align time of Hulks so that it becomes a pain for them to change belts.
Once the news spreads will the lazy Hulk pilots hopefully avoid the smaller belts. If not, then Hulks should be banned completely from 0.9-1.0 similar to anchoring cans. Bring back the fun!!! -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

The problem is that the Hulk squadrons have just too much mining power in high-sec. I saw a thread here the other night by a Hulk pilot who was all butt-hurt because someone figured out a way to actually make his life a little dangerous (i.e., using a ship to ram his Hulk head on to keep it from warping out during a suicide gank). If more people would do stuff like that, then high-sec might be a bit more interesting and rewarding for people like you and I. ____________________________________

So why don't *you* go to a nice .5 system? It's not any less safe for you in 0.5 since a small mining cruiser will never be a viable suicide gank target, much unlike a hulk (destroying a 130m Hulk is a lot more fun than destroying a 350k Navitas, especially when both can be destroyed for zero ISK and zero risk).
Originally by: Whitehound Please, CCP, make the 0.5-0.6 systems more attractive to lazy Hulk pilots.
Do you actually mine stuff or do you just troll here? I'm asking because you're saying Hulk pilots are lazy, yet you claim to mine in the same belts as they do, so how are they any different from you? That is, if you're really a miner an not just a pirate troll.
Originally by: Whitehound Make the belts of these system 2-3 times larger and reduce the size of asteroids in the belts of 0.9-1.0 systems.
Unless you make most of those roids in 0.5 'dense' and 'concentrated' and remove those variants from systems above 0.7, Hulks will still prefer higher security systems to give them a chance of suriviving the next dumb suicide gank. Not much "fun" in mining 12 hours, only to have your ship shot down and that time completely negated.
Originally by: Whitehound In addition, make the first belt within a system the smallest and the last belt the largest. Make the sizes match real orbit perimeters! And cripple the align time of Hulks so that it becomes a pain for them to change belts.
Dude, you don't know what you're talking about. People already scout the belts first (or use bookmarks) because a Hulk's poor align and traveltime. You don't just warp a Hulk into the next best belt and 'approach' the closest roid. Do you know how long it takes to travel 25km from warpion point to the closest roid at 89m/s ?...

The problem isn't the "little danger" but the impossibility to defend against it and that the "risk" part on the side of the attackers in their worthless 110% insured t1 ships equals zero.

If this is how you want to discuss this then Hulks need to be banned from 0.9-1.0 systems completely.
If others make your life hard in high-sec then find a better solution to your problem rather than just making the life of the little miners hard.
Try to be constructive or ganks is what you deserve. And no, I do not gank but really just fly an Iteron. If I wanted to gank you I would not be writing here to find a solution. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

there is a bit of an etiquette that goes on among miners, however sadly there are lots who dont follow it.
i dont mine in a belt that has another hulk already in it. i wish more people would do the same. one belt cant really support two hulks working against eachother.
if a smaller miner is in the same belt as me, i dont mine what they are mining. what i can strip out in 13 minutes would take them a lot longer. i try to let them have an opportunity.
but i expect the same treatment in return. i have a bumpageddon i use against hulks who follow me from belt to belt.

No, afk miners like you should be banned:

Good job for calling hulk pilots lazy when all you do is target a large roid, activate the one mining laser on your ity and go to bed.

Sorry, my mistake. I should have called you lazy, ignorant, arrogant, stupid and afraid of getting ganked ...
Seriously, try to be more constructive here. Would you not want to have some larger asteroid belts for your hulks? If you don't like the small miners then go into 0.5-0.8 systems. Or ask yourself, where is the fun for you?
And I do not AFK mine and go to bed. Having smaller asteroids and belts in 0.9-1.0 would certainly be more fun than staring for one hour on to the monitor or to wait for a Hulk to clear the belt. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

Why should something that is legitimate be banned? So they are mining that belt and so on, why can't they, are they not allowed too because you want to afk mine there? This thread is just about you wanting an advantage above other people, nothing constructive towards a majority as a whole. Remember, this game needs to be made for more people than just you

I have already given you the answers to your questions in my first comment.
... "Why?" - Because for the same reason cans got banned.
... "Why can't they?" - No one says yet anything about banning them. It is about making it more interesting for you by shifting the masses of asteriods into system where you can make use of all the shields, the armour and drones.
Further, your standings should allow you to refine the ore in more than just one or two systems.
And you don't have to jump from belt to belt as often as you do now. If you want you could AFK mine in your Hulk again, if that is what you want. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

No you haven't, you stated that Hulks need to be banned from 0.9 and 1.0 and your reasoning is because you want to mine in your ship without someone, who took the time to train for the best mining possibilities, in the same system as you are. Right now that is your main arguing point, therefore not much discussion can be made.

For what it's worth...
My favorite mining systems are around 0.5 anyways.
Sure, I could mine all day long in total safety in a 1.0 somewhere, but all I'd have to mine is Veld. In the 0.5, I have up to Omber to pick at, still with plenty of Veld if that's what I wanted.
Currently, the reason you see so many, is because the prices of Trit fluctuate. When it's looking lucrative, then you'll see a lot of higher sec activity as everyone scoops it up. ISK does make the worlds go 'round, after all.
As for that activity taking the form of Hulks... that's not to say that they are out to get you. That's merely because the Hulk is the epitome of mining vessels. Why would you spend so much time and energy training a proper Industry character, only to float in 1.0 in a Navitas? Sure... it was all you could do when you started. But you don't see movie stars pedaling their Huffy's to the premiere.
So... you can either come onto the forums and whine about how you're being robbed of all those precious minerals (which respawn daily in 1.0 if I'm not mistaken). Or you can go log into the game instead, keep on training, and get into a Hulk yourself.
Cus right now, you a tiny fish in a big ocean, and the sharks don't care if you're left with scraps. --- Players aren't interested in Variety, they only want THE BEST. |

You spend this time to get into larger as well as stronger ships, and to go into systems where others cannot follow you. You do not train for them so you can be more greedy.
Here is one more suggestion on top of the ones I have made:
Have one or two extra large asteroids in 0.5-0.8 systems. So large that it will take two or three Hulks about an hour to mine only one of them. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

Dude,...
a) you're the one who threw "lazy" into the room. b) avoiding suicide ganks has nothing to do with being afraid. c) I have Mining I and I doubt that's going to change ;) d) rhetoric doesn't work in these forums, it's still in the backlog. stop trying to use it. e) You're mining in an Iteron FFS! Don't call other people lazy.

Lazy is parking an Industrial ship in front of a single rock, and mining for hours. I know, because I tried the same thing once upon a time. I discovered it was terribly time consuming, wasn't nearly as lucrative as I'd hoped... and generally looked foolish. Something akin to a man with a pickaxe and a massive dump truck to throw it all in.
Quote:

Whatever -your- motivations may be, do not think to project them onto others. Everyone pays their subscription on their own. Everyone plays the game to get something different out of it.
So some may train to get larger ships, to go more places.
And some may train for better ships to do a better job where they are.
ISK makes the worlds go 'round. If that weren't the case, you wouldn't be crying over your lack of mineral yield. So again... quit surfing the forums for pity, and go get your own Hulk. Whether you choose to take it into 0.5, or stay in 1.0 is on you... but don't cry because the other kids brought a bigger toy and you're jealous. |

Wow, I have a hulk!? Wish I had known that ccp gave me some free skills to use that ship, would plan out times to go mine rarer things. Point is, you haven't posted a valid argument other than you don't like something when you don't try and change that on your own and you want ccp to do that for you, end of thread. You haven't posted anything viable that would be fair too all, and any attempt to inform you of this so maybe a proper discussion could occur is met with, No You. Think up something important, or refine your thoughts some and then we can get back to this discussion.

So you think that someone who claims to have Mining at level I, does not intend to change this, and is proud of it has the ability to understand the issue?!? If so then perhaps I should consult an oracle, or just throw some bones and try to read the future.
Now, stop telling me what to think or what to do when this is the forum for ideas and suggestions. Be all the fish you can be, swim in your oceans, read Goethe - I won't care. But if this topic does not interest you then get out!!
Frankly, to me you appear to be dumb and stupid when you continue posting comments about how you are not lazy, how you don't have a Hulk, do not train mining skills or that I shall solve all your problems. All what is going to happen is that I will pity you and that I see your comments as a welcomed bump to the thread. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

No need, I'm having a hell of a lot of fun reading your posts. I mean it's obvious you're trolling, but it's also obvious you're new to it (making such posts on your 'main' will get you and your Whitehound corp dec'd - but maybe that's what you want). From what I've read on these forums, you're putting a bit too much weight on trying to insult people (who'll just laugh their asses off). You need to appear a little dumber yourself - as if you wouldn't understand any argument presented to you (this shouldn't be too hard since it's true in your case - see what I did?) - instead of blatantly obviously ignoring them.
