On three occasions, when I've purchased an item that is located in a different station, I've seen the money removed from my wallet *, but not show up in my Assets or Wallet/Transactions listing. And when I arrive at that station, the item is not in my hangar. Also, the item that I purchased (and the quantities) remain unchanged and still available in the market.
* - The first two times, I saw the wallet blink afterward so I assumed the money had been taken out. But I wasn't sure. The third time, I wrote down my money on a notepad before making the purchase. After making the purchases, I opened my wallet and saw the money withdrawn.
I had some troubleshooting advice in CORP channel, but none of it really helped. Someone said there's a delay, but the third time had me jump 7 times (surely that'd cover the delay?). I'm sure this is no glitch, so maybe I'm missing something to what I'm doing?

It really sounds like you made some buy orders instead of just buying items from existing sell orders. Check you Wallet, Orders tab to see if there's anything listed there. ---

I didn't see any open orders when I just quickly logged in.
Although, when this was happening, once I got to the station, I just re-bought the items again (paying the fee twice ) .. so maybe that cleared out the open order?
I guess I just need some clarification then. If I see something that I want to buy, and I'm not at the station where the item(s) are at - do I select "place buy order" or do I right-click on the item and select "buy this" ?? Or are they one and the same?

Sort of the same. You always "place a buy order" though it can be done in a couple of ways.
When you right-click on an item in the market window, you're placing a buy order for that item, at that price, at that location. Since they're available, it should be immediately filled. You may wind up getting the item from someone else at the same station instead of the line item you clicked on, though, if someone else has the item at the same or lower price.
I promise nothingÖ. --CCP Prism X |

Keep in mind that it can take your assets windows upwards of five minutes to display any recently acquired / sold items. On numerous occasions I have also thought that I was experiencing a "buy bug" due to this.... but it turned out to not be the case. Is there any chance that you docked at the wrong station when you were trying to confirm your purchase?
There's also the chance that you submitted a buy order instead of making a straight purchase.

No chance, at least not for the third attempt. Originally by: Mendolence There's also the chance that you submitted a buy order instead of making a straight purchase.
I'm thinking that's what must've happened. From now on, I'm going to right-click the item and select "buy" if I need the item right away.
