The world of EVE is easily 10x the size of any rival MMO (AT LEAST). Someone already did the math in this thread, but both WoW and Conan tend to have 6-8 hour downtimes each week for extended maintenance. As for "6 months to sort it out," bull. The first post-Apocrypha patch came out within a month of the release of Apocrypha. Unless you're working with sub-space or hyper-space mathematics 1 != 6. Now, I'll lend you a hand here. If you meant "content expansion" instead of "patch," which is a significantly different thing and usually released twice a year, then yes, they had six months. Six months of gaming out ideas, taking them to the drawing board, examining their feasibility, putting them into effect on internal testing servers, gaming out models, redesigning facets of the expansion as needed, all before putting it on Singularity for the general public to try and break. Perhaps I should've said, "all before putting what they don't think should remain a surprise, and hopefully a nice surprise, on Singularity." This is ignoring the fact that CCP has rarely gotten overwhelming support from the EVE community for testing out new content on Singularity. In fact the single most popular, and populous, time for Singularity, EVER, was Armageddon day and that was likely due primarily to the fact that everyone had their skills bumped to L5. While subsequent patches improved on this slightly, a number of gameplay aspects were changed - such that Age of Conan is now just a bad game (with a number of bugs). Even 1 year after launch, most of the promised features are not there, there is a lack of end game content, the crafting system is still mostly missing and the community is pretty poor. I am glad I quit after 5 months and regret the money I wasted.
