Mind clarifying what criteria this is on? Like, certain gunnery skills and whatnot for naval pilots, industry for miners, etc? or is it organized differently?
Setting up something like that the way I'm assuming would probably be one of those things that'll make some people really happy and others dissatisfied. The best solution I can think of would be to create a system that would allow sorting into certain groups based on skills that the administration would select. Something like that would take a considerable amount of time to develop, so if I were to create it, I doubt it'd be in this particular release, as the functions people are asking for are fairly important ones that I'd like to release fairly soon.

Adding this feature to ESAM wasn't that difficult actually. Depending on the structure of your code, it should be easy to moderate to add to your code. Convo me in game sometimes and we'll discuss how it's done.

I will consider implementation of this feature after the release of 2.1. I should probably include a .sql file since people had so much trouble with SQL modifications last time.

I think the skills they're on about is actually that on the SMF version you can set a rule so that if a director registers they automatically get put in a "Directors" usergroup. A nice feature but not as nice as a cron job would be ;)

You'll notice that the modification file specified that this modification was to be used with version 3.0.4. If you're using it with any other version, it's not guaranteed to work. It is 100% guaranteed for 3.0.4. 3.0.5 is not yet supported, but my intent is to make 2.1 compatible with it.

Hi,
I have this mod installed on my forums and is working great for new uesrs, however for existing users they are unable to add there API Key information into there profile.
Is there anything that i have done wrong as to why these fields don't show up in the UCP profile page.
Regards

It appears I left a template file out of the initial release. I'll bundle it with the cron job. The cron job should be released within the next week or two. Been figuring out the optimal way to make it operate without too much overhead (bear in mind, it'll be running API checks on everyone in the corp/alliance/etc. specified, so it's gonna be a little intense already).

I would suggest that the raafcorp_pbb02. part is incorrect. If you're using phpmyadmin and the standard table prefix you shouldn't have to enter anything else. Just use the SQL tab and copy/paste the code from the install file.

Actually, that portion just denotes the database that table is in. It's not often used in queries because people usually select a default database. In this case, the default DB is raafcorp_pbb02.

Run this query:
DELETE FROM raafcorp_pbb02.phpbb_config WHERE config_name='api_entity' or config_name='api_validation';
That'll remove the duplicate entries. I got this one earlier today. That query will resolve it. Run it, then update your user registration settings, and it'll add the keys for you.
2.1 will contain the insert queries in the notes instead of the SQL field, for execution only in the case of errors.

On second glance, I did include the API fields in the template files. It's under Account Settings on your profile. The fields only appear if API validation is enabled, however.

Will the next version have the abbilty to set or place people in usergroups based on the information the api key pulls? Like if i make a user group called testing, could people in the testing corp be placed in said group automaticly?

I seem to be gettin the following error message when trying to install the mod:
The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'http://venom72.servegame.com/phpbb/install_api_r...
This is a clean install of 3.0.3 and I copied the files from "root" to their respective folders. Just when I run the install url it fails http://venom72.servegame.com/phpbb/install_api_registration_2.0.xml < ---- is that file in the right location or should i place it elsewhere

Quote from first post: You can either manually install this mod (if you have mods already installed and in use), or you can copy the supplied files in the 'root' folder if you're installing this mod on a fresh 3.0.4 installation.
Might be the wrong version you are useing maybe. |

As far as updates on 2.1 go, I'm working on the cron job now. I've written some support stuff into the software to make the cron job's work easier, and that seems to be working quite well so far.
I'm going to make 2.1 work with 3.0.4, but immediately afterward I'm going to port it to 3.0.5 to release as 2.1.1, so if folks have 3.0.4 running as their production forum right now, they won't have to upgrade immediately to use the new mod version (plus it makes development easier on me, actually).
Things are moving quite smoothly indeed, now that I've gotten some of the big roadblocks out of the way :)

How are you planning on doing the cron? On my forum, i store the characterID associated with the forum account in the profile and check it against the memberlist api.

Edited by: Valek Rennesist on 03/08/2009 07:51:54 I've got it grabbing the character ID via the API (by the name on the forum account) and checking the corporation/alliance name in the configuration against that character's corporation/alliance name, depending on the validation type selected.
Trying to keep it as optimized as possible so the only slowdown comes from API access times. Writing it as we speak. I've written the validation functions and the query building pieces, now I just have to write the part that cycles through folks to be validated and handles the de-activation e-mails. Doing that now. Progress is good.

Tonight's work is complete. The cron job is 100%. Tomorrow I begin work on the new features.
I'd release the cron job now, but it requires updates to the phpBB files themselves, so I have to release it with the rest of 2.1. Soon, everyone. Very soon.

Character portrait avatars are now supported and configurable via the Administration Control Panel. Next step is to enable non-members to join the forums (should be easy enough), and to make sure that single quote issue is eliminated.
I thought the cron job would be the hardest part. I was wrong. The avatar implementation was no pushover, as phpBB3 has a weird way of handling uploaded avatars.
Work to continue tomorrow. At this rate, should be done by this weekend at the latest.

As of this moment, as far as I can tell, 2.1 is feature complete and bug-tested. Tomorrow will be spent creating the 2.0 -> 2.1 update XML file and verifying the contents of the from-scratch XML file are correct. Once that's done, 2.1 will be released here.
As a note, please remember that 2.1 is still for 3.0.4. Once I've gotten it released, I will immediately begin work on a version that is 100% guaranteed compatible on 3.0.5. It will be released as 2.1.1. I will offer links to both in the topic post, to provide maximum support.

Hi Valek,
Just wanted to say I've installed this and it's a very cool MOD and it works well. I'm looking forward to the new version!
I'd like to see the ability to specify additional corps and alliances who can register on your forums. Although my corp isn't part of any official alliance, we're close to other corps and work with them all the time. This is the one thing stopping me from implementing this on my live site :)
It would also be nice to list user's corp in their profile. That way we can display it on forum posts, in the member's list etc
But yeah. Great work, and thanks! |

I do believe he intends for support for "blue" signups in 2.1, he can confirm when he sees this however.
