Often when mining in groups we have incredible lag, especially with drones.
using the frags fps software checker, we see that in normal space we have 6 to 10 frames by seconds and in heavy mining it go to 2 fps somethime 1 and game is totaly out of control when pirates comes...
So what can we do ? somes players have bigger computer full of RAM but seems to be just a little better (and maybe more in their spirit)
by the way we disable majority of games options like radar , transparency, go in windowed and cut all others softs but nothing enought...
Is this a server side issue ? i begin to reflect seeing that people can play with a basic modem than maybe CCP servers are force to send at max 5kb by seconds , if its that maybe client lag because he wait for all theses informations to come and cannot fit in 5kb/s ?
I really need to know what is wrong because theses mining operations are a small part of future works, soon we will have war with maybe 10 drones by people and 40 people here and i cannot imagine how it will works with less than 1 fps...
Someone just say me that maybe its my video card to change (i have a gforce2 with 64 mb), did people with gf4 have normals fps in heaving corp mining ?

I am experiencing similar issues... BUT i dont mine,
When hunting NPC pirates, the lagg has now got so bad when i warp to a roid belt, or pirates warp into a belt i am at, that there can be a 30 second pause before i gain control of my ship once more. I then drop to maybe 5 frames a second.
I would say this could be my connection, or my hardware....
BUT
LAGG? on a freakin 2mbit connect? with a P4 with 1 gig of ram? with an ultra 320 scsi drive? with a GeF4 ti?
come on now CCP sort your servers out...
Over the last 2 nights, friends in the game have lost a MOA and a Maller to lagg..
They warp to a belt...game stalls...they wait 30 maybe 60 seconds..game comes back .. and thier 3 50K pirates round them and they now warp scrambled and down to 50% armour?
That sux
I'm now having trouble killing pirates i whuppassed no problem 3 days ago...and not due to fire power or sheilds...due to LAGG
Fix it NOW please CCP Julius ceaser : "operor vos volo MCCCXXXVII laganum bUBbLeS?"

SAme problem here and with all others from corp/alliance. Group mining drops you to 1 to 4 FPS after sometime. The more containers and mining drones the bader the lag.
I first though it's my system but it's just the games fault. I have a 600kbit connection a P4 1.8 with 512 RAM and a Radeon 9700 PRO.
The game has a huge memory leak still. I can play around 10 FPS (wich still is ****ty) with tons of ppl and drones in belt. After only half an hour i have 2 to 4 FPS. Restart the game and you're fine for another 30 minutes.

I also have a fast Computer and a teir 3 DSL. Lag is a problem for me as well on a random basis. Its there then its gone. I dont see any change with the up and down of the server load, Its purely Random. I contend also the memory leak still exists because a relog seems to clear it in most cases. I have run a large number of trace routes to the server when the lag is the worst and what Im seeing is a huge drop off at the 3-4 nodes leading into the game server. They all come up as Iceland Telecom Ltd. Thamesside.cw.net. Im seeing a jump to the 179-300ms time at these nodes only then it just times out. Its been this way for a couple of weeks now so I suspect its the Local Telco that is a big part of the issue. Ive sent copies to Eve Team and have recieved no reply so with that fact Im beginning to think its a maxed out Bandwidth Allocation. Alas this will kill the game almost as fast as if it were the property of Electronic Arts.
Come on CCP lets spend some more money and kill the Lag before it kills you and dont ignore us either guys!!!!!!

Lag is not just affecting space and fighting (at least I am assuming it is lag). Several times today I have been trying to sell minerals on the market, only to receive no reponse.
Please Sell xxx; Certainly. Are you aware it is less than average price? Yes I am. Please Sell. ... Hello, is anyone home ... Hello, Hello ... Guess I will relog. That might clear up the lock out.
HEY! Where are my goods and/or where is my money? Both have dissappeared (and they are not sitting in a sell order either)!
If the market cannot be trusted, then I cannot sell anything. If I cannot sell, why continue to do anything? Therefore, I start down that road towards saying, this may not be what I what to do with my time.
FIX THE LAG AND FIX THE MARKET!

Glad i found this thread! thought it was just me with low fps. using fraps im getting between 9 - 17 normal space flight but ive not done any group mining etc yet. within space station between 15 - 23 fps. sometimes i get a few second freeze coming out of warp drive. :(
i thought it was my hardware (still could be?)
i have a AMD Duron 900mhz 1 GB RAM Geforce 4 Ti4200 128mbs 1MB Broadband connection
i still think my fps should be a lot higher than this as im above the minimum spec in all areas. I can run UT2003 np's so why this is so low i dont know.

Please sort this out CCP, I came over to Eve in the hope of a fresh new game experience which it is, but this lag is making the game unplayable, my patience runs thin!

I have alot of lag lately. In battle, when mining, and everything that takes loading takes ALOT longer than it used to be... I've had alot of critical situations with pirates thanks to that lag! I'm really annoyed by this!
Ow yeah, i have a 768kbps connection AMD Athlon 2000+ 1024 DDR RAM GeForce 4 Ti4600
So I could never be my computer or connection, and my brother (who also owns the game) is experiencing the exact same thing!

Maybe CCP should allow the user/client to choose how much badnwidth they can handle to the server. Atm I'm sure it great for 56k users as there on a lvl playing field even if others have broadband, but truthfully anybody playing a game like this or any game were action is taking place in an online game should be on broadband.I know thats fairly harsh but its the truth and I also know that alot of peeps don't have access to it. CCP however are crippling others who do have access to boradband by restricting the packet size and ammount of data that can be sent and recieved.
Plz allow the user to set how much data the wish to transmit and recieve like the do in other games. Oh CCP will most likly have to also incrtease there bandwidth to keep up and allow users this option.
Just my 2 cents Rainman

agreed CCP cannot continue to say that it's one's ISP or machine at fault...perhaps it's also a function of poor design on the client side
all I can say is that it's pretty pathetic to have the same patent responses from the devs to all problems...

Yep, I've got this problem too. Is this problem specific to the recent patch, or was it occuring before that?
Any chance of someone from the developer reading this and pointing us in the right direction?

CCP needs to do something about this lag issue. Wether the lag is the result of my ISP, it might well be a problem with CCP's ISP, I don't care.
But what CCP needs to understand is if the lag issue is not corrected, I am not likly to find an ISP the can correct the problem.
I am likly to find a new game that does not have this problem. And that is CCP's problem.
So stop telling us that is our problem, because the only solution we have open to us as users will not include EVE. And start telling us that you understand there is a problem and you are working on the problem.

The problem is not with your ISP. As someone who works in game development, I'm fairly certain that the problem lies in the code. Very reminiscent of a memory leak bug. Don't go changing your ISP, it won't make any difference.
