Talk about lag. Ive not seen anything k=like this for years.
Ive got a top of the range PC with broadband and pc totally locks up 30sec or more at a time every evening. Forget fighting. I have enough problems leaving the space station. The game if perfect during the day. It starts to go a bit ****y at 6.00pm and slowly deteriates until about 12.00pm. Weekends are totally unplayable.
This is clearly a big issue that no one seems to be nothing about. Shame really because im in a big online gaming clan and im one of the few thats remained due to the lag problems.
Lets hope they sort it out other wise it will end up in the bin like so many other things.

Agreed.
As an aside, do devs ever read these posts?

Ok, get this last night the Polaris guy on the help channel tells me the GM's are haveing trouble freeing stuck players because the Petition servers are lagging. So it looks like the lag might not be on our end at all.

i beleive that they can also make a big progress in using more system memory for all people picture & info already loaded (when i have look one people infos i dont see why it take 5 seconds for showing them again. A lot of people say me its big renderring issue putting in part my old computor... the quality of ships and other stuf if incredibly low so i dont see any reason for big works, and more in any case they should put a progressive rendering and not a full range & time one if lag come from that... ---- Sauvez les castors, mangez la foret! |

I have been xperienceing lag also and I don't see any reason why my comp has 2 gig ram cable connection, and a X1300 radeon fx card. I don't have anything running in the back. The only time lag happens is in battle and when mining. No matter the size of the battle or mining op. I will lag killing 1 rat alone and drones don't help any. If anyone has a solution to this problem catch me in-game My name is Samls. Or hit me up on e-mail [email protected]
thanks for your time

This has happened to myself and several corp members.
Initiated a warp back to a SafeSpot > Ship aligns > Speed Indicator charges to (Warping) > and 1 of 2 things happens 1-Ship appears to be in warp tunnel, yet ship is still taking damage while traveling at 6,000,000m/s 2-Ship just sits in one place with visual appearance of 'warping' yet sitting at the same spot while taking damage. Ship is NOT scrambled, or disrupted yet the ship does not 'appear' to be moving, but when I try to CTRL+SPACE to cancel and re-initiate warp, it says I cannot do that while warping. Or when I try to re-select a warp location it says "you cannot do that while warping" but I am NOT WARPING!
This has cost my corp over 6 Ravens, 3 Ferox, and 2 Carcals in the past two weeks. It has forced us to stop doing Lvl 4 missions and revert to solo'n Lvl 3's. And I'm sick of reading the bullsh!t responces by GM's in the Q&A saying that is it 'pilot error' such that 'you were too close to a collidible structure - FALSE' , 'Poor ship fitting [no stabs] - FALSE' , 'Ship lost due to poor piloting and just expecting a 'hand-out' dishonestly - FALSE.'
I spoke with someone who has been playing for years, and he was bragging about how he and his corp used to petition that 'lag' caused them to loose their ship, when they really lost it in PVP and how they always got their 'new' ship back. Its jerks like that, that ruin the game for the honest people who are not scamming the system.
I reactivated my account in Feb, and since then I have gotten 30 of my friends and clan mates to join. But now many of them are loosing interest due to this 'memory leak' that is causing them to loose their ships for no fault of their own.

if you can play without the shiny graphics that eve got... turn of music, sound. will speed it up a bit.
also hit "ctrl + alt + shift + E" and "ctrl + alt + shift + T" will turn off effects on turret and generally.
what stated too.. turning the "save chat to file(log?)" off increase speed too.

I also get the lag spikes. It is more like video lag than connection lag though, since the entire game locks up. Only the mouse is active, but other apps in background work fine so it isn't similar to issues from a graphics card or cpu overheating.
It gets worse over time, and dropping out of Eve completely clears it up, for a short while.
I have done everything suggested in the Boost your FPS thread, and general game response is clearly better now than before, but the lag spikes were not at all reduced. They appear exactly as they did (growing over time).
I increased the buffer size for Eve as per that thread, Eve used a bit more ram but not much than with the default setting. Over time, when the lag gets worse, the amount of memory used doesn't seem much different than before (and there is still plenty of spare ram left over), so its not ram related I think.
The issue exists on ALL of our computers (relatively equally) even though the computers are very different. Our geForce2/AMD900mHz/512mbRam system lags almost identically to our ATI X1600Pro/AMD3200+/1GbRam system. They all pause for about 3 seconds, every 10 seconds or so after the game has been running for a short while.
All systems are running Win2000 (totally patched), drives defragged, newest drivers.
It makes no difference at all if there is a background application running (ie Firefox with Eve forums). With or without the other app's running, the lag spikes are the same.
The lag gets worse over time. Leaving the game running for several hours makes it worse. Exiting and restarting the game resolves it for a short time (with or without rebooting the computer).
It feels like a memory leak issue, but its not from the main memory, so could it be a leak in video memory? EQ had that issue for a while, and it manifested itself in a very similar manner.

This morning I am going to get my pilots together and run another lvl 4, but have each of them drop from the game every 15-30min to see if that works as a 'duct-tape and bubble-gum' fix to EVE till it is fixed by CCP.
