This thread is filled with all kinds of good useful suggestions and report the developers can use to find this problem.
What the hell is wrong with you? Can we go back to just shouting please?
I tell you, today's Eve players...

I get fitting screen crashes too..very annoying..I'll try disabling bloom.. We are told to beware of wolves in sheeps clothing, but we should be far more concerned about sheep in wolves clothing, and should not become such a thing ourselves. |

I have never crashed in EvE. I have a new rig with E7400 Core2duo 4 GB Kingston Hyper-X Radeon 4830 catalyst drivers V9.2 Vista 32-bit
I do play in windowed mode with all effects on max, including bloom. I wonder if windowed mode helps in some way. Yeah sig would be here.
Ah heck with it, Bree time.

I just tried again for testing purposes 1) Bloom HIGH (crashed every time) 2) Bloom LOW (survived a few times but crashed most of the time) 3) Bloom Off (crashed every time)
I also tried opening and then closing the fitting tool... every time I minimized/maximized with the tool closed everything worked.... as soon as I maximized with the tool open I would crash.
I tried running in compatibility mode... still crashed I tried running with all visual themes off... still crashed I tried running as administrator... still crashed
I tried opening every other window I could think of in the game... worked fine
The only time I consistently crash is if the fitting tool is open.
And this is on two different computers with fairly different specs. About the only similarities between the two are: 1) They both run vista 64 2) They both run intel - one is dual core and the other is quad 3) They both run nVidia cards - one runs a 9600 and the other runs an 8600

Run it in windowed mode at your "fullscreen" resolution and just hide the taskbar. Then see what happens.
I've never crashed on the fitting screen except for the known "right click ship while fitting is open --> crash" bug. I HAVE crashed in warp though....

Games don't fry video cards... Crappy cooling systems, crappy BIOSs or defective hardware fries video cards.
And no, it's not CCP's fault your PC can't keep up.

A game cannot fry your videocard, if it did it just means that you had crappy hardware and/or crappy cooling on your cards. I'm running the game with 200+FPS and 300+FPS in stations and my cards don't go beyond 65C degrees.
On topic, crashes only seem to occur when you have fitting screen open and minimize and when you are windowed mode fiddling with fitting screen. I'm on vista64 but I got a friend with XP who crashes in the exact same situations.

I've also crashed to desktop a couple of time while doing stuff with the fitting screen open. Unfortunately, can't say what specifically is doing it.

Also had multiple CTDs and dissconnects since the patch and it's getting old now, my solution is to press 'Esc-quit game' just after setting skills whilst in the game and in station. Then click on any of the TotaWar icons on my desktop.
Works every time.

Edited by: Jade Firestorm on 10/04/2009 11:24:21 I have no solution for the crash at the fitting screen, it seems to be Vista (64bit?) related, as corpmates with XP didn't seem to have this problem.
The crashes at stations or sometimes other places do seem to have a solution, it seems to be caused by your graphics card getting too hot (complains about a certain driver .dll at a blue screen).
What worked for me was setting interval from "immediate" to "1" at the graphics window.
Immediate was causing spikes in fps, which *can* cause your graphics card to overheat, "1" (I believe it functions as v-sync?) will limit it to about 60 fps and make it run more stable.
As for the system specs: Windows Vista 64bit Intel i7 920 6 Gb Ram Geforce GTX 280

If that happened to you there is something wrong with your hardware. Thats a really new card and there is no reason whatsoever it would overheat on EVE.

I hate to say me too, but "me too".
But mine crashes whenever docking and the "loading station" message comes up. The whole system just locks solid. I've tried leaving it for half an hour and it still doesn't come back up. Rebooting is the only fix.
Shame, beacuae when it works it looks great and runs smoothly.

trust me, my hardware can keep up. since i started playing EVE.. nvidia 8600 gt - 2 caps just explode out of the blue. luckly still works. nvidia 9600 gso - intense heat while sitting on station, no longer works. latest drivers? yes. disabled effects on game? yes. tweaking of driver settings? yes. cooling? yes. has this ever happened while playing other games? no. most of the problems seem to happen while in a station. so if this isn't a problem with the client, i donno then.

I've done that, but to no avail.
I mostly crash when changing ships with or without the fitting screen, but I've also crashed just sat outside a station, warping, sat at gates etc.

Same ..
Geforce GTX280
Download Rivatuner ... Declock your card = win ..
Sorry but I found my Geforce was overclocked (it ran faster than the PCI-E) so I declocked it and it worked fine ..
I know I will get flameroooooood for saying that but it worked for me until I replaced my graphics card ..
Good way to discover it is when you instal the latert Geforce drivers you will get a blank screen for about 20 seconds .. ---

Yea, happens to me too sometimes(fitting window crash).
The most fun one tho... You know when you press "undock" button, you get that bar loading and option to cancel undock. Yea well, it doesn't really work...at least 30-40% of the time... And that can be annoying when EVE displays that you actually canceled the undock, you go afk for a minute or two, and come back to see your ship being shot at by reds OUTSIDE OF STATION...

Guys the fix to most of your problems is this. try setting your Preset Interval on one. Its under graphics advanced. Basicly what this does is set your framerate to maximum of your monitors refresh rate so it doesnt get to unlimited fps in stations and crashes your computer.

Confirmed... Just changed my interval to TWO because I don't really need more then 40 fps. And I minimized and maximized multiple times without a crash... changed back to immediate and crashed again.

Funny on my 9600gt game works smooth as a whistle with all effects turned on&max settings ingame. The fact that you have to disable yours means that you have a crappy card. Yes I do realize you have a 9600gso but that still doesn't mean that the game is busting your cards.
Stop buying ****ty hardware. And what does "cooling?yes" mean anyway? Let me guess a passive radiator on the 9600gso or a small&****ty fan? This is how a gfx card cooler should look.

I hate you all, you jinxed me! I haven't had 1 single crash since Apocrypha came out, and within 5 minutes of reading this thread my game crashed...
First and only crash was caused by having the Fitting screen open when I minimized the game.
