So i decided to try out a wormhole today:)
Been practicing my probing skills gotten a little better and thought hell I was want to splore a little:P so I get through 3 unknown space and began probing hoping to find known space and continue my little adventure.
I previously checked my exiting wormhole and it informed me that I had about another day left and that it stability has not been affected. After 10min of trying to find another wormhole I noticed that my marked wormhole on my overview was gone!! There I was stranded, alone, away from home, in the quiet cold of deep deep space, and all I could think was..
This is f***ing awesome.

Edited by: VicturusTeSaluto on 08/04/2009 03:34:45 It does add renewed interest/excitement to the game. I just hope that if/when t3 fails that there will be a better reason for people to use w-space.

I thought of the idea building alliance empires. Like the major 4, they expanded among the stars and built star gates and connected an empire. I know that I am not thinking further into how this would actually works.
I just hope CCP expands on wormholes in the futures.

I guess a while down the road could be used for shortcut's(ship's that can "regenerate" wormholes to allow large fleets to move across the galaxy using known coordinates of previously "dead" wormholes)..

Tech 3 isnt going to fail just be out of reach for a long while. This is one ideas that devs poured alot of effort into and are carefully monitoring its progress and price progression and if they feel its not up to specs THEY will change it just like they did for rigs.
Larger organizations are able to expidite quite often bringing the nessecary materials on a constant flow for either just their own ends or for dedicated manufacters, CCPs goal of near tech 2 prices may be possible eventually though BPO tweaking or harvest rate tweaking to m3 tweaking obtaining that goal is quite possible.
The ultimate prospect of W-space is possibly colonizing it to our own ends, making our own star gates, establishing planets and the sort in there and possibly running into the other 3 quadrants of that galaxy or even worse an entirely new galaxy all together since w-space is its own cluster far outside New Eden cluster maybe possibly establishing pernament wormholes between our galaxy and the sleepers galaxy.

Indeed, Wormholes do seem to be following the pattern of mis-information.
I hear people saying "I'll buy a t3 ship when they come down in price" but the truth is, in its current state it just wont happen. If anything the excitment of the unknown and its associated rewards are disapating.

One thing is the time it takes to a wormhole to dissapear by itself, and another thing is the amount of mass a wormhole will accept before it collapses.
Your wormhole was probably collapsed by an excess of mass, that is, a lot of people going thru it.

It's early days yet though.
I can't help but think there are some people who are too entitlement-driven.
If people aren't in T3 ships en massT within a year, has it failed? By the same token do all plans that don't expect to achieve fruition for several months or years automatically mean they've failed? Not imo.
CCP will of course tweak things to ensure the materials vs time equation balances out, but to expect everyone to be flying T3 from day one is a bit short-sighted imo.

I cant believe CCP wasted so much effort on T3 ships when i'm still waiting for my Fed Navy Domi. But seriously, a new range of T1 and T2 ships would have been more exciting in my opinion, but hey, thats just my opinion.

For the lone-wolf style of play W-Space makes sense only if you've allocated large chunks of uninterrupted time to it. 2 or 3 hours after work on a weekday won't cut it. Other than seeing if you can hold your own against the sleepers, the worn-out "risk vs reward" discussion raises its ugly head.
CCP designing this for small gangs/fleets to the exclusion of everything else is working as intended, and other than as an exploration curiosity, Apocrypha is "meh" for the solo player.
Not intended as a whine, just a realistic assessment. There's other stuff to do in Eve, anyway.

Very much this.
4 people can make 200m an hour easily in w-space. If you want to solo, go farm level 4 missions. |
