There are many out there that love PVP. There are also many out there that hate PVP. If the Dev's are listening, I would ask again to make EVE a PVP choice game. Those that mine and create stuff and only want to fend off game created pirates already have the weapons to do so in all levels of space. Those that want to gate camp, PVP of go all out warring on each other will be able to continue to do so on other PVP players in all levels of space. All current and former/vacationing players should receive a one time non reversible choice to be PVP or not PVP. Any new character created must make the irreversible choice of PVP or NO PVP when created. Can tippers still get whacked! Any Non PVP Player that fires upon any players becomes PVP for ten hours EVE time (a costly mistake) and/or sanctioned by concord. NOW ANY PLAYER CAN ENJOY ALL ASPECTS OF EVE!

I had a thought today: "what if CCP was run by a pack of jerboas?" I think it would go something like this:
"Hey guys let's make Eve a risk-optional game."

You only need to know how to avoid combat if you don't like it.
Enough tactics for that.

Wow! Look at all the rude discourteous players crawling out from under their ASS teroids. Sure makes people feel great about posting a suggestion to the dev's. But I wonder? which part of "to the dev's" did you rude people not understand? or do you feel you have to trash anything anyone says on a forum. I think an age limit is not enough to weed out people like you, Maybe an IQ minimum should be set so the rest of us do not have to read the rude stupid things that just seem to pour out of your mouthes.
Please try to grow up and let the dev's read what a paying players would like to see on the game.

The same can be said about you being discourteous yu have posted your idea on a forum which then allows others to comment on it. As for your idea it would ruin eve, this game was made to be a nasty place where things dont always go the way you want them to. If you don't like it don't play

EVE already is a pvp choice game for the most part.
Generally in EVE, if you are in danger, you put yourself in that situation through your own actions.
The number of times i've seen people refuse to scout then jump into a huge fleet and accuse people of ganking, it's not even funny.
There are plenty of ways to avoid pvp. ---- Me - Plim Character. You - Non-Plim Character. |

1. What possession of the dev's are you adressing, and why would you think it would listen (since you're using "dev's" rather than "devs")? 2. Why would you want to remove PvP from a PvP game — isn't that like wanting to play Counterstrike but without the knifing and shooting? 3. If you don't want other players to chime in, don't use the forums. 4. You choose to PvP by clicking the "Undock" button.

I would like the option to buy your stuff at the base mineral price listed in the database. I think your "price griefing" should be optional as I don't like paying you your so-called "profit". Players should only be allowed to charge what they like in 0.0, which is for PvP. In empire, only the recommended base price should be legal.
I propose this change not to benefit myself but to prevent the 99.9994657657% loss rate of new players, which is primarily caused by "price griefers" massively overcharging them so that they can never ever compete.

Geez, Lady, don't you realize what a pain this would be to all the bi-polar players?
They have to wrestle with their conscience every time they undock, unsure as to whether their manic or depressive side will win out and thus dictate what they do.
Now you want them to committ to a single course of action? Eve is for players to do what they want, when they want, and to who they want, providing they can make up their minds before downtime.
Heck, sometimes it takes me 30-45 minutes to stop looking at all the pretty stars and stuff going in and out of the jump gate before I remember what I warped to that gate for.
This is supposed to be a game, for crissakes, not a job at Brooklyn NYPD precinct.

A tip to the Op: If you want to address something to the devs, there are ways to do so. They are called mail, e-mail, and petition system (though some would argue the petition system is slightly misused if used like this, but not I).
If you want to address a subject to the community, you would use the forum. Why? Because of what a forum IS, by definition, and what they are intended for. I can post a topic that says 'To Delnarai', but who's to blame if that thread turns into a spam fest or goes off topic? Nobody, except me.
If you use the wrong medium, it's not the other posters fault for calling you on it. It's yours, either through ignorance or stupidity ... your pick.
On the topic of 'voluntary pvp' ... why? What would this game be then? See, we're talking about a matter of perspective. If by chance you only define EvE as 'a space game', then I can understand what you feel like. But for MANY players, including myself, EvE is not just a space game. EvE is the most realistic, single-shard universe science fiction simulator on the market. To ME, that's why I play.
So, by my own view, if you were to make pvp optional, it would be as stupid as adding dwarves as the next race. Doesn't make sense to you? Because you obviously don't value EvE for what it is. You want it to be something very different.
You'll hear suggestions from other players which might upset you. If someone suggests that you 'play another game', don't take it so hard. Many of us are not telling you that we don't like you or want you here. What we ARE telling you, however, is OBVIOUSLY EvE is not the game you really want to play. Instead of massively changing this game, please, find another which better suits you.
It's selfishness, really. You *think* you want to play EvE, but you don't want to play EvE. You want to play something that kinda, sorta, maybe resembles EvE. You also don't care about those who love and enjoy the game as it currently is. A subscriber base that has continued to grow over the last six years. You want to change the game, so that YOU can play the something kinda, sorta, maybe like EvE, without actually having to play EvE.
The harsh reality of EvE ... combat anywhere, vicious player interactions, that sort of thing? THAT IS EVE! That is what makes EvE unique. That is what will keep EvE afloat in the future, when other sci-fi games come on the market and take all those wishy-washy players who didn't really want to play EvE in the first place.
Salute to you on finding a game that you want to play ... not a game that you want to change drastically so that you can enjoy it.

Even those that hate PVP love things to grumble about - like the day they were caught out in low sec without an escort. To make the game into two streams of players would destroy the unity and internal consistency of EVE - and that is what makes it so worthwhile to many people. The idea that this is what space really could be like (given some tinkering with the laws of physics *), not just something filled with obvious GM interventions, is what makes the difference between game immersion and just isk collecting.
* Or in the case of Jita, suspension of the laws of economics.

WoW might be a better game for you. As for your idea, you have no idea how much this would be exploited. The ONLY way to make EVE PVE is to make a whole other EVE universe. A PVE server, and that's NOT going to happen, so....if EVE's PVP isn't for you, STAY IN HIGH SEC or switch to Hello Kitty Online.

I could not have said it half as well as this. ------- Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience. |

I was actually agreeing with Ruze's explanation to the OP as to why their reasons for wanting to change the game are bad. On another note, PvP is optional. Oddly enough, the "Consent" and "Undock" features are both tied to the same button. ------- Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience. |

I have yet to see non-consenual pvp in highsec space... all pvp in empire has some form of consent whether it is taking the bait from a canflipper or actually arranging to 1 on 1 with somebody..
disagree with me on that one and i will fight you... UNSC- United Nations Space Command |
