Edited by: Z33D on 13/04/2009 12:15:58 Edited by: Z33D on 13/04/2009 12:15:09 I am using an ATI Radeon HD4850 and I have a slight problem running 2 clients with 1 on each monitor on full screen.
I have checked the control centre for Catalyst and I cannot see anywhere how I can have double desktops instead of a single desktop where 1 screen is primary and the second screen is just an extension of the desktop.
The way I have it set up now is 1 client on one screen and the other client running on the second screen, but... I am unable to view both clients at the same time. I have to alt tab to windows and switch all the time. There is also a 2 second delay of lag when doing so within my desktop which is annoying.
So my question is how can I run EVE, on 2 monitors, 2 seperate clients 1 on each monitor, and view both at same time, and just simply move mouse over to other client - click and play... move mouse over to second client... click and play. No alt tabbing, everything viewed at same time. Is this possible anyone?
edit: sorry i accidentally hit enter after typing in the subject title and posted without my message. fixed.

Set both to windowed mode, then set both resolutions to each clients respective native monitor resolution. Make sure you have each one set to the correct graphics adapter in the eve options menu, 1 is primary monitor, 2 is secondary.
Use a tool like eve launcher to reposition both windows to fill the entire screen, I personally use WindowPad

Edited by: Mia Fatalis on 13/04/2009 12:54:58 indeed, windowed mode is key. if you want it to look like fullscreen mode, you can use a relocating program (i do at least). the one i use is Gamers window relocator, itll hide the borders and such to look nice.
I use an ATI radeon x1650pro for my eve, with 2 monitors, and had a lot of trouble with 2 monitors until i figured out how it really worked. the window relocator program keeps me from having windows overlapping both monitors (mega computer lag if that happens). Also, assign each account to the port on your card, for me its "radeon x1650 series 1" and "radeon x1650 series secondary 2" in the graphics settings of game. each one corresponds to the monitor that is attached to that port (obviously...took me awhile to figure that out )
hopefully thats helpful...works for me at least on my garbage computer.
edit: someone beat me to it D:

thanks for all advice and help. friend of mine sent me EVE Mover v11. Does the job perfectly. copied my eve folder in the same directory it was installed... ran 1 client did the windowed mode settings, set it to DVI 1, and simply dragged it onto monitor 1 for EVE mover.
repeat that for the second monitor, and drag the running client in eve mover onto monitor 2. it renders the windows perfectly so that it looks like it is both running as full screen. i can now even simply click on each side i want and access both accounts instantly... even minimise to windows, pop both clients back up... sweetness.

Did you install two different clients or did you use that linking system to make a separate cache folder for your second instance of EVE?
I botched things trying to install a second copy of EVE so that I had ccp/EVE and ccp/EVE2 as my two copies but for some reason they were using the same cache files so I am doing a fresh install of only ONE copy and using the linking method to make a separate cache folder for the 2nd instance.
I'm in a similar system using an ATI 4850 card and two different types of monitors (main is widescreen going at like 1360x768 and the second monitor is a flat screen running at 1024x768).
Any thoughts on which method is best?
Cheers, OK

if you have 2 monitors you need to get to your graphic driver oprogramme for example i am running nivdiia graphic cards
so i have a porgramme called n-tune
i turn both monitors to show as one desktop horizontal
press accept
run eve and change it to 1280 X1240
to 2560 x 1240 as that is the new resolution of my desktop as it is across to screens
also goes really well when watching a movies on itunes since it goes all cinematic and looks awesome
look awesome for watching dark knight
y so serious

I routinely run three clients at once. Its all about how new your hardware is and what video card you run.
I have no client side lag. However, I also have 8gb corsair ram, 2 video cards and a quad core processor. You can get by with less but your performance will degrade accordingly. |

is it possible to use 2 different vid cards, my spare computer broke down, motherboard issues, and i was thinking of grabbing the still ok vid card and putting it in my machine and plugging a second monitor in to that, could i then run eve full screen on the 2 different video cards? |

Not really related but might be useful to someone:
I run dual boxes, a client on each, using a program called input director. Lets you use the same keyboard and mouse for two networked machines and lets you arrange the screens as you would in the windows control panel so it appears you are using one machine but with two(or more) monitors. Very cool, especially if you encounter lag, I for one find my framerates halving if I run two clients on my one machine and all my hardware is fully up to date.
I'd really like to know the setups of those who triple or quad account at the same time. |

On Windows XP EveLauncher is the best solution, up to four monitors can run EVE Online in full screen (I tried with two so YMMV)
It gets trickier on Vista/Seven. I can get EveMon to run one copy in full screen, but not two.
My notes and links:
http://edenexplorer.info/how-to-run-multiple-copies-of-eve-online-in-full-screen/
I will give EveMover a try tonight to see if this makes it work for me on Windows Seven. |

If you mean in windowed mode with Evemon maximizing the window, then it's possible but tricky.
1. Open both clients, set to windowed mode and put one window on each screen. 2. Open Evemon with the option to maximize window on. 3. Now that Evemon is running, click on the first client window and Evemon will maximize it. 4. Alt-Tab back to Evemon. (or alternatively hit the windows key then click on the Evemon tab) 5. Change setting to maximize window on second screen and then close Evemon. 6. Re-open Evemon then click on the second client window and it will maximize to the second screen. 7. Alt-tab to Evemon and turn off maximize option.
That works for me anyway. It's important not to click on the wrong window at the wrong time or you'll maximize the wrong window or the wrong location. If this happens you can either close everything and start over, or turn off the Evemon option and hit Alt-Enter a couple of times from each client window to reset them.

Edited by: Mire Stoude on 17/06/2009 06:06:11 Well, I think the traditional dual monitor Eve setup is Eve on your main monitor then p.o.r.n on the other.

Yes - altho EVE does not support that low vertical resolution. For that you need to mess around a bit to get those resolutions available. I'm myself have separate client set up that runs in 960x1080 (as my second monitor is 1920x1080 so I can run 2 clients there side by side). If I remeber correct smallest resolution EVE supports is 1024x768. You might have some problems with x600 vertical resolution.
