Originally by: Captian Duffy before adding any new ships CCP should have a look at how much marauders and black ops(especially black ops!) are used in game. the price-benefit ratio is ridiculously high for them. i mean why pay a price of a carrier for BATTLESHIP that will get blown up almost just as easy as your regular BS for 80-90m isk + you'll be magnet for suicide ganks. imo prices for blackops and marauders should be 2x or 3x the price of a regular battleship max.
There is a very valid point here. T2 gets increasingly difficult to justify using in PvP as you go up the scale. If these ships are intended to be used in PvP, then they would need to be cheaper to produce. The insurance should be kept the way it is, but the ships need to be a little more disposable than they are at the moment.
This is something that can be done in increments. See the game with more of the resources that make T2, see if the price goes down a little, see if they take up in using T2 in PvP goes up a little, and repeat if necessary.
T2 shouldn't replace T1, that's for sure, but I think I have seen 1 Kronos and around 2 or 3 Golems since the T2 BS' were released, which isn't really common enough. Assault frigates, HACs and so on are fairly common, but once you get to the BC-level and above in T2, they become increasingly rare.
And to those who say that there are too many ways to generate ISK in this game. Well, maybe there are, but if the main focus of your game is PvP, then it is significantly harder to keep shelling out for tech 2. Besides, many of these forms of generation are okay if you don't mind grinding for hour upon hour in missions (which is why I tend to specialise in other forms of ISK generation). Also, if it were truly that easy to generate ISK, why aren't people risking high-end ships more often?
In regards to the other ships, I would like to see some of the faction ships become a little more affordable too, so they can be taken in PvP too. I like the look of the Nightmare, but there is no way I would invest that much in a ship to take it into battle where it has a high chance of dying in seconds.
Some of the T2 models could be added to as well. Not major changes, but subtle changes to help differentiate the ship models. For instance, the Purifier has two extra engines bolted on to differentiate it from the Inquisitor (if that is the T1 equivalent). This is quite a nice subtle change. The Manticore, on the other hand, only really has a colour change. Perhaps they could be a little more bold with the redesigns. I always thought the Tempest fleet issue, with it's rectangular solar sails made quite a striking difference to the regular polygonal one without too much redesign, and you can clearly differentiate that from a distance.
