Too early to tell unless you want eft dueling. I'd say t3 cruisers get one extra slot over t2 cruisers. They can be designed to be better versions of the t2 ships. A muninn w/ 5 mids and 33% more alpha for example. Depends on your taste for "best."

Edited by: kessah on 18/04/2009 01:00:21 Taking the two most distinguishing subsystems fitted to each of the 4 races of t2 cruisers. That being the immunity to warp bubbles and covert ops cloak offensive subsystem.
The Legion is probably the best followed by the Loki then Tengu, Proteus is probably the worst of all three from those subsystems fitted.
If your not fitting those subsystems, then i suggest u get ur head examined because t2 can do the job cheaper. Christ even the drake can do it in the Tengu's case.
Remember your tank might be uber, your dps insane! but it only take a blob to kill you. Best use a setup that can escape to fight another day than to tank the world and then die to some nublet alliance that would rather share loot 50 ways.

Looking at Survivability I'd prolly say Loki is first but then i haven't been able to work out how to fit a Legion yet

Depends on what you want to do with the ship.
I'd say Tengu is the King for PVE, as it can deal a lot of damage at huge range and tank everything with ease. _

I can get 750 dps out of a tengu pretty easily. With heavies. At 112km. Without ridiculously expensive items. A cruise golem or CNR with full faction fit won't get that. Oh and it still tanks awesome at the same time, has smaller sig radius, is a hell of a lot more agile, and also moves at 6-700m/s.
If that isn't shining then I do not know what does...

Tengu > Loki > Proteus/Legion
I think that the tengu is awsome sauce all round you get some scary dps and tank fittings and can be very evil. Where as teh Loki makes and awsome sniper, with a huge alpha. The legion is a better zealot but the hardby is better than legio in a few ways. Definite tengu > other t3 ships atm.
Theres a faction fit that has like 22+ ehp in shields alone with i think 400 passive tank, and has 3 bcu's and HAMS that hit at 30km which can overlaod to high DPS. None of the other ships can reach this in dps, other than the blaster proteus to be honest but the ranges sux.

I don't know about you guys but with the Proteus gets breathtaking EFT numbers.
I have a Proteus fitting with 109k EHP, 900 DPS, completely stable and with full tackle: If you switch the offensive for the cloaking one, you drop to 680ish DPS but hey, you get a recon cloak!
Nothing says **** you more than a 700 DPS, 100+k EHP monster uncloaking in your face when you're ratting.

i was away from game when all this came about, but if its immune from bubbles then how do you tackle it? Or is it only imune from bubbles and not ordinary points which seems kinda strange (unless ofc coupled with the cloak)

Yep, immune to bubbles but can be tackled with normal point. Of course it having cloak and being able to warp inside bubbles makes it super-hard in most cases.

A reasonable, cap stable (even with AB on), Tengu PvE setup:
[Tengu, Pithi B] Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Damage Control II
Pithi B-Type Small Shield Booster Pithi B-Type Small Shield Booster Caldari Navy Shield Boost Amplifier Caldari Navy Invulnerability Field Caldari Navy Photon Scattering Field Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Capacitor Control Circuit II Capacitor Control Circuit II Warhead Rigor Catalyst I
Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node Tengu Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay Tengu Propulsion - Intercalated Nanofibers
670DPS with kinetic at 110kms and 706 DPS omnidefence. The new king of PvE. You can replace the Pithi B-s with a Pithum A and one more boost amplifier and you'll have around 1100 DPS omnidefence.

I think Pithum A-type medium shield booster is enough. You can always throw in HG Crystal set. It needs target painter and boost amp thrown away gives a slot for it.
Good solid fitting for PVE. I will try this out when my Tengu comes out of the owen...
EDIT: I had similar perma running armor tank with AB in Ishtar and that 700 dps tank was well enough to tank all lvl4s there is and the small sig radius is the cause for it. |

Cap stable, TP, 670 dps tank (uniform) easy to use mission specific hardeners if needed. Sig radius 205, wich is really small. T2 heavy missiles for hardest rats, t1 missiles for rest.
I switched T2 CCC rigs to T1's.
But never, ever do Buzz Kill with this. I know that it would take ages to knock out all those elite frigs in that mission.
EDIT: That's with HG Crystal set
EDIT2: EFT shows -2 seconds as align time for this...
EDIT3: LOL.. Just had interesting idea.. Get alt in Basilisk (tank, ab, couple med shield rr and rack of t2 small scouts)
Tengu warps in, kicks ab on, uses tp to take full stage agro (or knock out all triggers to get it) then Basilisk warps in and deals with the elite frigs etc and gives repping for Tengu... Both flying over 500 ms...

Sorry for making you depressed .
Originally by: Mystafyre ...
Golem and paladin/nightmare will still be better for missioning. Alt in basilisk? Get an alt in domi, more dps is better. Why omnitank? Use mission specific hardeners, also get rid of dc2 for another faction bcu. And using rigor rigs is much more comfortable than messing with target painter /well only if hmls can kill elite frigs in reasonable time/.

Quote: Loki Offensive - Hardpoint Efficiency Configuration
Adaptation and innovation go hand-in-hand, and this subsystem is a prime example of both ideas. While researching Sleeper drone weapon systems, a group of Minmatar engineers discovered special similarities to the technology behind all Sleeper weapon types. Distilling the underlying mechanic to its essence produced this hardpoint configuration, which enabled projectile weapons and missile launchers to share power sources and energy supplies (most of which were advanced beyond modern standards). This offers a vast increase to the rate of fire of both weapon types. Attempts to merge this technology to other weapon groups have, as yet, proven unsuccessful.
Subsystem Skill Bonus: 7.5% bonus to medium projectile turret rate of fire per level 7.5% bonus to missile launcher rate of fire per level

Originally by: Lady Thanatos Why is the Loki one of the better T3? It's speed, or am I just playing into the trolling?
If you want speed, you have to really try to get 2.2k/s out of this and then u have poor agility, so lows are wasted on istabs also. If its speed u want the vaga will be a lot more cost effective. You dont get much more dps than vaga but twice the shield buffer vaga style. Loki has an awsome alpha strike as a sniper with 7x 720 II adn the damage bonii. You can one volley all sorts!
The "Mini phoon" offensive subsystem leaves you lacking an active tank with good dps. As the split system compramises tank too much. Although there is a nice setup which shield tanks and has 1x neut 3xHAM II 3x425mm II and drones, does 650 dps and has 80k effective shields without a shield repper though, would work well in roaming gangs with logistics. |
