I'm also in Australia, and I have zero sympathy for people in Europe who think travel to iceland is too expensive. The round trip to London would cost me $2500, then I'd have to get to Iceland. Or I could buy a decent second hand car.

send four eggs!
ahem.
It is kinda expensive to travel there, but it's all relative tbh. not that i'm going anyway.
and downtime is in my prime-time too, and I'm in the UK (just unemployed and play all day)
> With the lights out it's less dangerous. |

It's a game with a playerbase across multiple continents. Its pretty obvious that wherever they choose to host the game, a lot of people aren't going to be able to attend. I'd suggest a glass-half-full outlook on the event. The Monkeysphere |

The Jokers were trying to arrange an expedition to the FanFest, with Jokers T-Shirts and all but when we realized how expensive it would have been (Rome-London-Rekjavik and the reverse, 4 flights not factoring the 2-3 hotel days) we had to renounce.
Ah well maybe next time, in London or Paris. *winks*.

Flying to an iceberg to party with a bunch of computer geniuses sounds about as fun as a visit to the dentist.
I would need to bring drugs just to keep me from going into Manic Depression from the climate, and more drugs for the cold, impersonal Nordic culture.
Here's a clue for the clueless : Next year, try the Bahamas

Logistically, holding the FanFest in Iceland makes sense. There's a lot of gear that would have to be transported to a different country, in addition to flying out all the staff. It is more cost effective to the company to hold it in the home town. This also gives all the fans that are interested a chance to see where we keep the testers chained to their systems and the infamous fishtank!
Also, with the Fest being held at the same time as the Airwaves Festival, the marketing guys were able to get a price reduction for the FanFest.
Maybe a future FanFest will be under a different set of circumstances. Personally, I'd love to see the next one held in the Caribbean!

Well, I live in Maine, USA, and being a disabled verteran I can take a MAC flight there since there is a US Navy base in the area. Will only cost me about $12.
If it were in London, it would cost me more.
