I understand that the DEVS want to advertise their home country (Iceland) by making the Fanfest there.
I find it very honorable but, if you don't live in a major country you have to fly to one and then fly to Iceland.
That makes the cost in RL money unbareable.
I'm sure you will only have major countries players there.
I will be very hard to find little countries players like Portugal (my case), Spain, Greece, Holland, etc showing up.
I would love to go but taking a flight from Lisbon to London and then to Iceland is very expensive.
Making the Fanfest in London would solve alot of problems you know? Afterall you have the cluster server there don't you.

Yeah I have to agree to a certain extent. You can reach London easily from all over the world, Iceland, err, no.
And Iceland is insanely expensive. Maybe London next time or the States?

Rented iceberg floating in the middle of the Atlantic and everybody get's a life saver and general directions to paddle in - might work as well.

well icelandic culture is realy fasinating you shuld come here.It will be one hell of a expiriance one you will never forget.Trust me iceland is the best place to have this fan fest!

I would go, but I only got into EVE 2 months ago.I've been to umpteen game related meets in the past, but I usually don't bother unless friends or guild mates turn up.
So in this case it'll probably just turn out to be a bit of a damp squib.. who knows, maybe next year. (Kali meet?  )

to all you whiny euro people , try sparing a thought for us aussies who miss out on 99% of MMO fan fests simply becuase we have to fly half way round the world to get to them
hrmm perhaps if I use the next 6 months rent to get there ...... hrmm no then I'd be homeless  .
hehehe so when you guys are having hella fun in iceland just spare us a thought, bad enough we already get downtime during our prime time 9pm-10pm.

I for one have always wanted to go to Iceland. Now I get several reasons to go; I get to go with some friends I know, some friends I haven't met and hopefully get to meet some new friends while I'm there.
Sure it's expensive - but it's the first one, CCP have a right to be proud of their work and where it all started. So why not have the fan fest in the home town?

No, thats not the point at all. The point is this - you can get to London from anywhere easily and get flight deals because alot of traffic goes there. You try getting to Rekjavik from South Africa, Asia or Australia. Much harder and much more expensive. Thats the point.
